Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic Education (PAI) teachers in shaping students’ creative character through P5 activities at SMPN 10 Palembang.aims to analyze the role of Islamic Education (PAI) teachers in shaping students’ creative character. Data collection efforts were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. Once the necessary data was obtained, the researcher conducted data analysis to derive research findings. This process involved data reduction, followed by data display, and finally, drawing conclusions based on all the data collected. The validity of the data was ensured through support from relevant sources, making this study a qualitative research. This research is based on Role Theory proposed by Aris Adi Laksono and Creativity Theory by Drevdal. Based on the research findings obtained through the data collection and analysis process following established procedures, the researcher found that the role of PAI teachers in shaping creative character through P5 activities is highly significant. As coordinators and facilitators, PAI teachers design and implement activities that cultivate students' character, particularly their creativity. In this character-building process, PAI teachers provide encouragement, motivation, and guidance to help students complete their project tasks effectively. Additionally, they instill a fundamental understanding that Islamic teachings serve as the foundation for actions. As a result, the students' creative ideas and works are expected to be beneficial for themselves and their surroundings.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation of gender equality values in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning to shape students’ gender-responsive behavior, particularly in class VII, and to identify supporting and inhibiting factors. This qualitative case study collected data through observation, interviews, and documentation, using purposive sampling to select informants. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that gender equality values are implemented through three strategies: (1) gender-unbiased lesson plans, (2) classroom arrangements that ensure equal access and facilities for all students, and (3) learning methods that promote collaborative interactions without discrimination. Supporting factors include principal support, teacher commitment and awareness, and the content of PAI itself. Inhibiting factors involve the absence of written gender equality policies and the diversity of students’ cultural backgrounds. These findings highlight the importance of structured policies and inclusive practices in fostering gender-responsive behavior in schools.

Abstract

This study explores the role of Islamic education strategies in enhancing the quality of human resources in the modern era. Humans are regarded as unique beings endowed with the potential to develop holistically spiritually, intellectually, and physically. Islamic education addresses this through two interconnected strategic models: macro and micro strategies. The macro strategy involves systemic efforts, including three core components: (1) the ultimate goal of Islamic education, which is to form pious individuals and a righteous society; (2) the foundational principles that guide the development of a curriculum rooted in Islamic values; and (3) policy priorities such as ensuring equal access to education for all children, diversifying educational pathways, reviewing and improving educational materials and methods, reinforcing religious education, strengthening educational administration and planning, and fostering regional and international cooperation among Islamic nations. The micro strategy, on the other hand, centers on tazkiyah al-nafs (purification of the soul), which aims to nurture personal discipline and moral character. This process cultivates inner balance by aligning the soul, mind, and body, ultimately fostering ethical awareness, resilience, and self-regulation.Together, these strategies form a holistic framework that equips individuals not only with knowledge and technical skills but also with strong moral and spiritual foundations. In the face of modern challenges—ranging from ethical dilemmas to rapid technological changes—Islamic education offers an integrative approach to developing high-quality human resources who are intellectually competent, morally upright, and spiritually grounded.

Abstract

Moral education is a core component of the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum, functioning to shape students’ character in accordance with Islamic values. However, the assessment process of moral behavior often faces a dilemma between objectivity (evaluation based on standardized criteria) and subjectivity (evaluation influenced by teachers’ personal perceptions). This study aims to analyze the epistemology of moral assessment conducted by Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers, focusing on the balance between objectivity and subjectivity as well as its implications for character formation. Using a qualitative method with a field study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with four Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers, participant observation, and classroom documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The findings indicate that objective assessment is based on curriculum indicators such as honesty and discipline in worship, while subjectivity arises from teachers’ personal perceptions and experiences of students. Approximately 80% of the field data reveal a dominance of subjective assessment, particularly toward students with disciplinary issues. This condition creates potential bias and reduces fairness in evaluation. Therefore, teacher training and the development of standardized assessment rubrics are needed to make the moral evaluation process more measurable, fair, and effective in shaping students’ character in the digital era.

Abstract

The utilization of social media as a communication tool and information source among vocational high school students in the digital era presents substantial opportunities for knowledge construction. However, high-intensity social media use also introduces challenges such as distraction, decreased focus, and the risk of spreading invalid information. This study aims to analyze the impact of social media usage intensity on students’ knowledge construction and to identify the challenges and benefits in the context of vocational agricultural education. A quantitative method with structured interviews was employed to explore students’ experiences. The results indicate that with adequate teacher supervision and digital literacy, social media can be optimized as a valid, interactive, and productive learning resource. Therefore, strategies such as curricular integration, digital literacy education, AI technology utilization, social norm implementation, and collaboration among schools, teachers, students, and parents are needed to create a more effective and sustainable digital learning ecosystem

Abstract

The advancement of educational technology has opened new opportunities for digital innovation in Islamic Religious Education (IRE). This study aims to analyze the implementation of online gamification in IRE at SD Negeri 3 Ngadirgo, Semarang, and its influence on students’ engagement, motivation, and moral internalization. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through classroom observations, interviews with teachers, students, and the principal, as well as an analysis of instructional documents. The findings indicate that digital platforms such as Wordwall, Quizizz, Canva, and Wheel of Names effectively enhance students’ enthusiasm, participation, and moral awareness, particularly values of honesty, responsibility, and ukhuwah islamiyah (Islamic brotherhood). Teachers demonstrated pedagogical readiness by designing game-based lessons aligned with the moral objectives of IRE. Institutional support, including digital infrastructure, teacher collaboration, and visionary leadership, further strengthened the sustainability of innovation. This study concludes that online gamification can serve as a modern form of ta’dib (moral cultivation), integrating digital creativity with spiritual formation. It contributes to the development of the digital faith pedagogy framework, emphasizing that technology, when guided by ethical and spiritual purposes, can become a catalyst for value-based learning in Islamic education.

Abstract

This study explores the internalization of wasathiyah (Islamic moderation) values within the Introduction to Islamic Studies (PSI) module at Universitas Terbuka and its influence on character development among Islamic Education (PAI) students. Using a qualitative case study design, data were collected from 50 students, three lecturers, and three experts through interviews, observation, and document analysis. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, covering data reduction, presentation, and verification. The findings show that wasathiyah values such as ‘adl (justice), tawazun (balance), and tasamuh (tolerance) are integrated thematically within the PSI module. However, their internalization is often limited by descriptive learning methods that lack reflective and dialogic engagement. Lecturers play a crucial role as facilitators in promoting active moral reflection through contextual and case-based approaches. This study highlights the need for a transformative learning design that bridges cognitive knowledge with moral practice, enabling students to embody moderation values in real-life contexts. The novelty of this study lies in identifying pedagogical gaps in distance Islamic education and proposing reflective, value-based strategies to strengthen wasathiyah-oriented character formation among future Muslim educators.

Abstract

This research raises the importance of integrating Islamic values, especially almsgiving, with a scientific approach in forming socially caring character. The phenomenon of a lack of empathy and social concern, especially among students, prompted this research to explore the concept of alms as a learning instrument that not only strengthens spiritual values, but also provides psychological and social benefits. The aim of this research is to describe the role of alms in building socially caring character and examine the relevance of integrating Islamic values ​​and science in character education. This research uses a literature review method, by analyzing articles from various sources that discuss alms, Islamic religious education, social care character education, integration of Islamic values ​​and science. The analysis process is carried out through selection of inclusion and exclusion criteria to ensure data validity. The research results show that almsgiving has a significant impact in increasing empathy, strengthening social relationships, and building deep social awareness. From a scientific perspective, the act of giving improves psychological well-being and reduces stress, while from an Islamic perspective, almsgiving is a form of worship that strengthens the spiritual connection with Allah SWT and social solidarity in society. The contribution of this research is to provide a conceptual basis for integrating Islamic values ​​and science in the educational curriculum, especially in the formation of socially caring character. This research encourages the development of holistic and contextual learning strategies, making alms an effective approach in forming an empathetic and socially responsible young generation.
