Abstract

This article aims to explain the educational program carried out by lecturers and students of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Program, Universitas Katolik Indonesia Santu Paulus Ruteng, to students at high schools in Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. The method of implementing the program consists of four stages, namely debriefing students and supervisors of this program, observation of the problems of prospective students, third, based on the results of observations, the supervisor directing students in providing assistance, and fourth is the implementation of mentoring carried out during two weeks. Based on the process that has been carried out, it can be seen that this program can help students at Setia Bhakti high school level to deepen understanding of learning materials they got at school. This system can also replace the role of parents in supervise their children during the online learning process because not every parent has the adequate ability to understand subjects in high school. Meanwhile, the results of the evaluation after the implementation of the program showed that the students wanted similar programs to be continued in the future if face-to-face learning could not be implemented. In addition, the mentoring method can be further refined according to input and feedback from teachers and teachers in partner schools

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic that has hit the world including Indonesia has had a serious impact on all sectors of human life including the education sector. Everyone is forced to stay at home to break the transmission of Covid-19. Public facilities such as schools were closed to prevent the spread of Covid-19. The closure of schools resulted in learning activities moving to a distance learning system by utilizing internet (online) facilities on an untested and unprecedented scale. The aims of this community service activity is to train teachers to be able to make learning videos to support and meet the learning needs of students during the Covid-19 pandemic by utilizing android applications on the teacher's mobile device. The implementation of this PkM activity is carried out in three stages, namely 1) the socialization stage, 2) the simulation stage, and 3) the training and mentoring stage. The results of the activity showed that after training and mentoring, the teacher was able to make learning videos. With instructional videos, teachers and students are helped in implementing learning activities during this pandemic.

Abstract

Stunting is a form of growth failure (growth faltering) due to the accumulation of inadequate nutrition that lasts a long time from pregnancy to 24 months of age. If stunting is not prevented immediately, it will have an impact on the quality of future generations, especially in 2031 the estimated demographic bonus occurs. Stunting can lead to increased morbidity and mortality among children under five. Stunted growth and development. Based on data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health, Directorate General of Public Health, Directorate of Nutrition, Kalimantan, in 2015 the percentage of stunting aged 0-59 months was (38.4%) in 2016 (34.1%) in 2017 (39.0%), 2018 (34%) ) and in 2019 (32%) this is still far from the 2020-2024 RPJM target (19%). The role of Posyandu cadres is really needed to be able to screen the incidence of stunting, and so far this has not been done optimally because of the lack of knowledge about early detection and intervention for the growth and development of children under five. As an effort to prevent stunting, it is necessary to detect and intervene early in child development with instruments that have been determined from the Indonesian Ministry of Health on an ongoing basis, especially during the pre-school age, one of the activities is to provide guidance using instruments for Posyandu cadres. This community service was carried out in 2020 with the subject of cadres at Posyandu Katingan and Melati, Palangka Raya City. The aim of this coaching is so that cadres can detect delays and deviation in growth and development in children so that they can be immediately intervened so that they are given the right therapy.

Abstract

Preliminary numeracy skills are very important to develop from early childhood. This ability is needed in everyday life, especially the concept of numbers which is also the basis for developing mathematical skills. The development of preliminary numeracy skills in early childhood must be done through fun play activities and using interesting educational play tools. However, the lack of availability of educational play tools plus limited financial capacity is still an urgent problem for almost all early childhood education institutions. This condition is exacerbated by the fact that many early childhood education teachers are not creative because of their limited knowledge and experience in providing educational game tools independently by utilizing existing tools and materials. A similar condition is experienced by teachers who are members of the cluster work center organization Ca Nai Cibal. This training activity aims to add insight and increase the creativity of early childhood education teachers in the cluster work center organization Ca Nai Cibal in making an appropriate educational play tools, especially for the development of preliminary numeracy skills. The methods used are: a) Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to explore the experiences of teachers regarding the overall picture of learning activities that have been taking place in their respective institutions, b) lectures are used to introduce the concept of the importance of APE for stimulating early childhood student cognitive development and use of educational play tools in supporting the optimization of the development of preliminary numeracy skills. c) performance/ performance of making various educational play tools using a variety of used goods that have been prepared. The results of the activities carried out, the teachers gained knowledge and skills about the function of educational play tools and their use in developing the cognitive aspects of early childhood, gained new knowledge and skills about the benefits of used household goods in making simple educational play tools, and were able to produce educational play tools, both by imitating and based on their own ideas. -Each by using used goods, such as: cardboard, plastic bottle caps, egg boards and others.

Abstract

Intolerance is a worrying problem in Indonesia. Many of the perpetrators are young people. There are many root causes of intolerance. Some of these are the lack of knowledge about other religions and the absence of relationships with others. In order to prevent the young Catholics in Ruteng from being intolerant, this program offers them dialogue activities and visitations to non-Catholic places of worship. The main objectives are to increase knowledge and build good attitudes and character. Through the program, the youth can do dialogue with other religious leaders. With this activity, they can have tolerance and respect for other religious communities. The main methods of this activity are dialogue and field visitations. Communities that are dialogue partners of religious leaders and people from the Muslim, Hindu, three Protestant denominations, namely the Evangelical Christian Church in Timor (GMIT), the Indonesian Bethel Church - Reign of Christ King (GBI-ROCK) and the Indonesian Bethel Church - Hosana. Location of the dialogue and visitation activities in their respective houses of worship in Ruteng. The result was that after this activity, young Catholics gained new knowledge about other religions, got to know places of worship for other religions, and had a positive perspective on other religions. Therefore, dialogue and tolerance activities are very beneficial for Catholic youth in Ruteng and effectively foster religious tolerance. It is recommended that this activity be carried out regularly for other groups of young people and even for all communities

Abstract

Learning from Home (LFH) is one of the policies that must be taken to prevent the expansion of the COVID-19 pandemic. The application of LFH is certainly a challenge for both students and teachers. The challenges of implementing LFH for early childhood experienced by teachers are very complex. The most basic challenge is the lack of understanding of teachers in making learning designs that are easy for parents and children to understand during LHF, and still accommodate learning outcomes in accordance with the school curriculum. A similar problem is experienced by teachers at the Santa Juliana Playgroup. This activity aims to improve the pedagogic abilities of Santa Juliana Early Childhood Education Teachers in planning play activities for children while LFH and make it easier for teachers to collect developmental assessment data. This guide contains a lesson plan format that is more practical and easier for parents to understand, as well as a form of assessment that can be carried out by parents on various activities carried out by children during LFH

Abstract

As an effort to preserve cultural heritage which can also be an attraction in the tourism sector, social media is a digital media that is familiar to use among young people. The internet can have potential as a medium for community empowerment itself. Based on the thoughts, the implementing team for this Community Service activity has carried out community service activities with the title "Digital Media-Based Culture and Tourism Promotion: Raising Youth Awareness of Local Cultural Heritage." The scope of the implementation of this service activity is in the fields of culture and tourism education which is adjusted to the minor profile of the implementing team's study program. The places where PkM activities are carried out are Langgo Village and Ruteng Pu'u Village with different activity times. In general, this Community Service activity was carried out well. This can be seen in the achievements of the activities carried out in accordance with the situation analysis and the initial plan of activities. Nevertheless, the implementing team acknowledged that there were several planned activities that could not be implemented due to the pandemic situation and restrictions on public activities that were currently taking place. Finally, the implementation of service activities has implications for the unavoidable trend of going digital. This trend can be one of the breakthroughs that change the way tourism and local culture are promoted more broadly, effectively, and modernly. With digital-based promotions, the reach of tourist information and various cultural arts performances will touch all levels of society in various regions with a wide reach, anytime and anywhere

Abstract

Community Service Activities by the PkM Team on behalf of the Unika Santu Paulus Ruteng institution along with alumni illustrate concern and a sense of humanity towards others. The Unika Santu Paulus Ruteng Institute was present among the victims of natural disasters in Lembata Regency to ease the burden of their suffering. The presence of the PkM team in social and humanitarian activities, namely distributing and delivering aid directly to victims of natural disasters is a picture of humans as social beings. With the strength of coordination and action, the PkM team demonstrated the presence of the academic community of Unika Santu Paulus Ruteng as a missionary institution that provided relief and consolation for the victims.

Abstract

The PKK (Family Empowerment and Welfare) is a mass organization formed with the aim of empowering families to improve welfare, become more faithful, and devoted to God Almighty, have character and are virtuous, healthy and prosperous, advanced and independent, achieve gender equality and justice and legal and environmental awareness. To achieve this goal, PKK needs to collaborate with stakeholders in developing its strategic program. The campus is one of the important institutions as a supporting partner for the implementation of the PKK program. This article describes the collaboration between the Indonesian Catholic University of Santu Paulus Ruteng Campus and the Team (TP PKK) of Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara in developing community empowerment and education programs. The forms of campus support in the Manggarai Regency PKK program that have been implemented are: assistance in developing PKK strategic programs, Education and Socialization of the PKK role to the District PKK TP and holding joint webinars to educate the wider community. The target of this activity is the District PKK TP, the District PKK TP, the Kelurahan/Village PKK TP and the Manggarai community in general. The activities that have been carried out have had a positive impact in the form of changes in knowledge, behavior and the establishment of mutual cooperation. Therefore, it is recommended that these activities be carried out regularly and continuously in the future and need to be expanded to other fields

Abstract

The development of children into healthy individuals and having good characters is a challenge for educators at all times. Educators in families, schools, and communities have an important role in educating children's characters. This paper was written based on community service activities carried out at Carep Station, St. Michael Parish of Kumba, Ruteng. There was found the problem of the character of the children. There were children who are lack of basic trust, sense of independence, initiative, creativity, and perseverance; they suffered from inferiority complex, speak dirty words, do not behave properly during the liturgy in the Church; they do not have care for nature as a common home and have not fully understood the values of the Scriptures. Therefore, the activities of the Missionary Children's Apostolic Union were carried out to educate the values ​​of good character. The methods applied are prayer, reading and explaining the text of the Bible, dramatizing the story of the Bible, singing, dancing, drawing, the practice of cleaning the church and its surroundings as well as explanations about the equipment of the church. The result of the activities showed that the children were active and enthuastic to participate and are making progress in living values such as basic trust, initiative, creativity, and perseverence; they are more confident and polite; they start to love the natural environment and develop proper behavior during the liturgical celebration and appreciate the Word of God. This activity is recommended to be carried out on an ongoing basis for the children of the Carep station and children in other places
