Abstract

The initial study has found several fundamental problems related to the professionalism of vocational teachers. These problems are in the form of 1) unequal teachers in getting the opportunity to participate in competency improvement programs; 2) lack of awareness in conducting research; 2) lack of desire to write articles and teaching materials, and 3) low level of desire to design instructional media in the field of mechanical engineering expertise. The objectives of this study were to 1) test the efficiency and effectiveness of the capacity building model; 2) find the determinants of success in professional development, and 3) produce a model for professional development of vocational teachers in the field of mechanical engineering expertise through effective and efficient capacity building. This study uses the Research and Development method. The subjects in this study were teachers in the field of mechanical engineering expertise in Bireuen Regency, the principal, two education management experts, and two mechanical engineering vocational education experts. Data collection techniques used in this research are through observation, interviews, FGD, documentation and questionnaires. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the teacher capacity building model can improve teacher professionalism. These activities are carried out through the formation of learning communities, virtual self-education, writing, critical development groups, peer assistance, teacher exchanges, further studies, congregational action research, conferences and seminars, and ongoing training.

Abstract

Primary school education is an important factor for the success of the next level education. Several changes have been made to the education system in Indonesia to expand access of education in rural areas, improve the quality of education, building initiatives since 2001. In this study, the method used was Multivariate to explore the relationship between several independent variables, i.e. gender, residence and expenditure groups. Prerequisite tests performed showed that the data were normally distributed. The results of this study indicate that in the Hierarchical Cluster analysis, four clusters were found in number of gross participation rate (APK) of primary schools or equal in Indonesia year 2018, 2019 and 2020. The hypothesis test showed that gender, residence and expenditure group has no significant effect on APK of primary schools or equal students. This indicates that in year 2018, 2019 and 2020, primary schools or equal students have received education evenly in ratio of gender, residence and expenditure group.

The data analysis technique is carried out in stages (1) data reduction (summarizing the core data); (2) data presentation (coding of data that has been reduced); (3) conclusions (concluding the data obtained). The research result shows the following matters. First, the planning of learning to write scientific papers are prepared by the teacher is valued 98,4% and is categorized as very good. Second, the process of implementing learning to write scientific papers are carried out by the teacher is 92,9% and categorized as very good. Third, the evalution of learning to write scientific papers are done by the teacher is 77,7% and categorized as good. Abstract

This study aims at analyzing the violation of the maxim of quantity produced by undergraduate students in research seminar and the reason why they violate this kind of maxim. The researchers applied qualitative research design by using observation and in-depth interview. Four undergraduate students were the participants of this research recruiting using purposive random sampling. The results show that most of the participants violated the maxim of quantity by doing circumlocution (not to the point), providing more explanation, and talking too much. They considered that it was valuable for them to provide more information than needed to obtain the attention of the examiners. They assume that the more they speak the good outcome for their research seminar will be accomplished because having more explanation means they master their research content well.

Abstract

This study was used to determine the feasibility of the instruments before being used for further research. This study calculates the results of the validation of three validators who are experts in their fields using arithmetic averages, the validated instruments are: (1) the syllabus gets a score of 92.67%; (2) Learning Implementation Plan (RPP) scored 94.4%; (3) The Knowledge Assessment Instrument received a score of 93.36%; (4) The skill assessment instrument got a score of 93.31%; (5) The attitude assessment instrument got a score of 96.89%; (6) The Project Based Learning module received a score of 93.1%. In addition, this study also calculates the validity of the items, the differentiability of the items, the level of difficulty of the items and the reliability test of the items. This question consists of 30 items that have been tested on 15 students to find out the results of the calculation: (7) the validity of the items obtained a significance level value (ɑ) 0.05; (8) the level of difficulty of the items obtained a percentage of 16.67 for the easy question category, 70% for the medium question category, and 13.33% for the difficult question category; (9) The differentiating power of the items has very good criteria; and (10) the reliability of the items got a score of 0.753. From the calculation results that have been mentioned, it can be stated that the instrument of the influence of project-based learning models on learning outcomes on the basic competencies of commercial hair trimming is declared feasible and can be used for further research.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of implementing the teaching factory on readiness to work through the competence of students. This research was conducted at SMKN 2 Mojokerto. This research is an ex-post facto research. The population of this study were students of class XI and class XII of the catering service program at SMKN 2 Mojokerto, totaling 193 students. The research sampling technique was simple random sampling and calculated using the Slovin formula, so that the number of research samples was 130 students. The data analysis technique used path analysis. Research data collection uses a questionnaire instrument on the variables of teaching factory implementation and readiness to work, while for competence using tests and observation sheets. Before being distributed to research respondents, a validation test was first conducted on each research instrument. In line with the objectives, the results of the study show that: (1) the implementation of the teaching factory has a positive effect on the competence of students at SMKN 2 Mojokerto; (2) The implementation of the teaching factory has a positive effect on the readiness to work of the students at SMKN 2 Mojokerto; (3) The competence of students has a positive effect on the readiness to work of students at SMKN 2 Mojokerto; and (4) the implementation of the teaching factory has a positive effect on the readiness to work of students at SMKN 2 Mojokerto through the competence of students.
