Abstract

Abstract

The program "Encouraging Savings for Children in Remote Elementary Schools" aims to improve students' financial literacy through an interactive and engaging approach. This program incorporates educational storytelling, saving simulations, and financial prioritization games tailored to the needs of students in remote areas. Evaluation results indicate an average improvement of 25% in students' financial understanding, with pre-test scores of 60% increasing to 85% in post-test assessments. Additionally, 70% of students have started practicing saving habits at home, supported by positive feedback from teachers and parents. Challenges such as limited time and inadequate facilities in some schools were key concerns. However, the effectiveness of interactive methods demonstrates the program's success in creating meaningful changes in students' understanding and behavior regarding financial management. With additional support, this program has the potential to be replicated in other regions, providing a broader impact on building financially aware and literate young generations

Abstract

The use of contraception among couples of reproductive age is an important effort to regulate birth spacing and the number of children; however, many couples still have limited knowledge regarding the types, effectiveness, and side effects of contraceptive methods. This condition causes most couples to continue using hormonal contraception for long periods despite experiencing complaints such as weight gain, menstrual disorders, headaches, changes in libido, and increased blood pressure. This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge and understanding of couples of reproductive age regarding hormonal and non-hormonal contraception through health education activities. The method used was counseling by delivering educational materials using PowerPoint media and interactive discussions. The target participants were couples of reproductive age in RT 01 RW 04, Bambu Apus Subdistrict, Cipayung District, East Jakarta, with a total of 18 women of reproductive age. The results showed that participants were very enthusiastic in attending the education sessions, actively participated in question-and-answer discussions, and experienced an increase in knowledge regarding types of contraception, side effects, and their management. Contraceptive health education is expected to assist couples of reproductive age in choosing appropriate contraceptive methods, reducing side effects, and improving reproductive health status

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the degenerative diseases that is a priority for treatment in the elderly. In addition to optimizing the coverage of health services, improving the ability of the elderly to care for themselves at home is an equally important focus. Regular physical activity is one of the management strategies recommended by the Indonesian government. One modality that can be applied is gardening therapy, which is known to help control blood pressure and reduce anxiety. Nurses play a role in enhancing self-efficacy and the ability of the elderly to manage their blood pressure. This program aims to introduce and implement gardening therapy for the elderly with hypertension. The method used is divided into three sessions: education, sharing, and practice. The activities were carried out in May 2024. The participants included 84 elderly individuals, 5 community health workers, and 4 healthcare center staff. The evaluation of the program results showed an increase in the knowledge and skills of the target group. It is hoped that elderly individuals with hypertension can continuously implement gardening therapy at home to improve their health status

Abstract

There have been several major natural disasters that have attacked Kupang City in the last five years, namely the Seroja tropical cyclone disaster, a 5.1 Magnitude earthquake, and a moving mountain disaster. With several disasters that occur quite often in NTT Province, especially Kupang City, it is undeniable that this has been predicted and warned by BMKG to the Community. This proves that the Community can be said to be unprepared to face and mitigate natural disasters that will occur. Therefore, based on this background, a Community Service activity was held in the form of Natural Disaster Mitigation Training and Simulation in one of the locations in Kupang City, namely the Nunsui, Oesapa Village. The training materials that will be provided are in the form of natural disaster mitigation (before, during, and after it occurs) from three examples of civil engineering fields, namely construction, transportation, and cost management. It is hoped that with the training and simulation activities, the community can understand how dangerous the disaster that might hit the inhabited area is, and the community can respond better to the intended disaster mitigation methods

Abstract

Consistency in content publication is one of the main challenges in social media management, particularly for business-to-business (B2B) service organizations that rely on educational content as a communication and branding tool. The absence of a structured scheduling system often leads to irregular posting, uneven workload distribution, and difficulties in monitoring content production progress. This activity aims to improve the consistency of social media content publication through the implementation of a digital scheduling system as a strategy to enhance content management efficiency. The method used is participatory observation with a descriptive qualitative approach, in which the author was directly involved in the content planning, production, and scheduling processes during an internship program. The implementation of the digital scheduling system utilized a content calendar and task management platform to organize the content workflow systematically. The results indicate an improvement in publication consistency, a more organized workflow, and a more stable growth of social media followers. The digital scheduling system supports efficient content management without involving sensitive company data. These findings are expected to serve as a practical reference for organizations or MSMEs in managing social media content sustainably

Abstract

The community of Sooko Village, Gresik, East Java, has yet to fully grasp the significance of financial literacy and saving, primarily due to low income levels and economic uncertainty. This community service initiative aims to enhance financial awareness through training and mentorship. The service-learning method was employed, involving 15 students from Petra Christian University and 3 lecturers, conducted on February 5 and 17, 2025, in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity Indonesia. The activities included lectures, discussions, and the “Quartet” game, designed to teach expenditure prioritization and cash flow management. As a result, participants gained a better understanding of financial management and began to save, despite challenges related to time constraints and the limited number of participants. This initiative is crucial in promoting financial independence through prudent financial management.

Abstract

Household organic waste management in Indonesia remains a serious challenge, with food scraps being the largest component of waste. Limited knowledge among the community, particularly housewives, about effective and economically valuable processing methods is a major challenge. This study aims to empower housewives in RT 08 RW 14 Jatisampurna, Bekasi City through Black Soldier Fly (BSF) maggot cultivation training as a solution for organic waste bioconversion. The activity was carried out from June to September 2025. The methods used were counseling, training, and practical mentoring. The results of the activity showed a 76% increase in participant knowledge based on pre- and post-activity tests. The "Maggot Box" innovation provided was successfully implemented by 30 housewife participants, who are now able to process organic waste independently. The perceived benefits include reducing waste volume, increasing economic value through by-products (animal feed from maggots), and increasing the role of housewives in environmental management. This activity is effective in providing practical and sustainable solutions to organic waste problems while increasing community productivity

Abstract

Village officials often work based on their individual experiences without systematic guidelines on how to communicate effectively in serving the community, resulting in service inconsistencies that impact dissatisfaction and a decline in the quality of public services. This community service activity aimed to improve the effective communication skills of village officials and village institutions in order to enhance the quality of public services in Sarangmandi Village. The activity involved 20 participants, consisting of village officials and institutions (village office staff, the head of the PKK, neighborhood heads (RT), and the head of the Youth Organization/Karang Taruna), as well as university students conducting their Community Service Program (KKN) in Sarangmandi Village. The training was carried out through presentations and practical sessions on effective communication, emphasizing speaking techniques, body language, and public speaking skills in the context of public service. The results of the activity indicate that participants were able to apply more structured and confident communication, and became more responsive to community needs in the service process

Abstract

Sentul Village, Purwodadi District, Pasuruan Regency, has approximately 3,050 residents, with low household organic waste management practices. Improper waste management can increase environmental pollution risks and reduce the productivity of home gardens. This community service activity aimed to improve residents’ knowledge and skills in managing organic waste through the construction of biopore holes in the TOGA (Family Medicinal Plants) Garden. The activity was conducted from February 1 to 11, 2025, involving 50 housewives who collectively constructed 25 biopore holes as a natural composting medium. Evaluation was carried out by measuring the volume of organic waste before and after the activity, as well as pre–post tests using questionnaires to assess participants’ knowledge improvement. The results showed that the utilization of 25 biopore holes reduced the volume of household organic waste sent to the landfill by 30% and increased the average participants’ knowledge score from 62% to 85%. Furthermore, the compost produced enhanced the fertility of the TOGA Garden soil, indicated by improved growth of planted seedlings. In conclusion, the biopore method is an effective and sustainable solution for reducing household organic waste, increasing community knowledge, and improving environmental quality. This approach can be replicated more widely in other communities
