Abstract

Pharmaceutical services at pharmacies in several regions of Indonesia are still low, that is un-equal to the growth of the establishment in pharmacies which continues to increase. The four sub-sectors which coverage in pharmaceutical services include non-prescription drug service standards, KIE services, and prescription service and drug management standards in pharmacies. This cross-sectional study was carried out in Tangerang area to determine the factors that influence the quality of pharmaceutical services, with a total of 68 pharmacists serving in 68 pharmacies. The characteristics of pharmacists are conducting by using questionnaire and observation. The results obtained for APA characteristics were 72.1% with age 26-35 years, 80.9% female, 94.1% having undergraduate and professional degree, and 98.53% had worked as APA ≤ 10 years. The quality of pharmaceutical services is 48.5% in the good category and the pharmacist (APA) presence factor is the most dominant variable that influencing the quality of pharmaceutical services (OR-58.3 with p-value=0.002), while the ones which not affecting are APA motivation and pharmacy ownership status (p> 0.05).

Abstract

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a form of renal failure for 3 consecutive months that can be treated with hemodialysis. CKD patients need to undergo diet according to their kidney condition to prevent complications. On Riskesdas 2018, the prevalence of CKD reached 3.8 percent for population aged ≥15 years. The study aimed to determine the effect of nutritional counseling with dietary journal on the knowledge, attitudes, and dietary compliance of CKD patients who were undergoing hemodialysis at PGI Cikini Hospital. The study used a one-group pre and post-test design with 39 samples. Nutrition counseling was carried out using dietary journal twice. Knowledge and attitudes of samples were collected by asking samples to fill out questionnaire before and 1 week after nutrition counselings. Dietary compliances were collected from energy intake, macro and micronutrients, and IDWG values. The results showed that there were increases in the number of samples with adequate and good knowledge levels, positive attitudes, and in the compliant group to 84.6 percent; 94.9 percent; and 69.3 percent, respectively. Bivariate analysis showed that there were significant differences in the level of knowledge and compliance of CKD patients underwent hemodialysis at RSI PGI Cikini after nutrition counseling with a dietary journal. However, nutrition counseling has no effect on patients’ attitudes towards hemodialysis diet. It was concluded that nutritional counseling with a dietary journal affected the knowledge and dietary compliance of CKD patients underwent hemodialysis at PGI Cikini Hospital. Abstract

Solid soap as a body skin cleanser can be used as a souvenir. Kaffir lime leaves and sappanwood are natural ingredients and contains good anti-bacterial compound. This paper aims to explain how to make solid soap with shape of watermelon using thick extracts of kaffir lime leaves and sappanwood with a concentration of 1%. Kaffir lime leaf and sappanwood extracts were each made by soaking 300 g of powder in 500 mL pro analysis ethanol solvent for 48 hours and thickening using a rotary evaporator at a temperature of approximately 50 °C. The soap is made using the cold method (cold process). The research results showed that the soap had a fresh smell, solid shape, soft texture and color resembling the shape of a watermelon. Has a pH of 9.8 ± 0.4 and free fatty acids of 1.39 ± 0.2, according SNI Soap. Artisan soap is also antiseptic and able to inhibit Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria.

Abstract

Lip balm is a preparation used or applied on the lips to protect the lips from adverse environmental effects and prevent dry lips. Apricot seed oil is one of the oils that contain essential fatty acids, namely linoleic acid and oleic acid, thus it can be used as an excellent skin moisturizer. Objective this study aims to make a lip balm preparation formula containing apricot seed oil as a lip moisturizer. The research method used was an experimental design which included testing the quality of the oil, making lip balm preparations with optimization of apricot oil concentration, evaluated the quality, safety, and efficacy. The results active ingredients of apricot oil contained linoleic acid, oleic acid, palmitic acid, α-linolenic acid, and stearic acid. All preparations met the quality requirements as a homogeneous lip balm preparation with a melting point of 58oC - 60oC, pH 5.80 - 6.06. Safe to use and non-irritating. Optimization concentrations of 2.5%, 5%, 7.5%, and 10% have the effectiveness of moisturizing lips with an average percentage of increase in lip moisture after 4 weeks of use, namely 18.6%, 28.8%, 45.4%, and 65.6%. Conclusion apricot seed oil can be formulated as lip balm preparations that met quality requirements and have been tested to be safe for use. Lip balm preparations containing 10% apricot seed oil have been able to increase moisture on the lips.

Abstract

Gambier is an endemic plant that can grow properly such as in Indonesia it has been empirically used for natural coloring, antiinfection and burns wound healing. Gambier used as antimicrobials because its catechins compound. Catechins mechanism as antimicrobial are break the cell wall or cell membrane of bacteria, other mechanism is to precipitate of protein because the catechins properties is same with phenolic compound. This research aims to know the preservative effectivity of dry water extract of gambier (Uncaria gambir Roxb.) in cream type of cosmetics. Research methods are total plate count, yeast and mold count, logs and percentage of preservative effectivity test. The data of the result there are: gambier extract in Pseudomonas aeruginosa cream shows the preservative requirement at 2%, 2,5% and 3% concentrations with 100% of reduction and 3 logs reductions on 14th days testing; gambier extract in Staphylococcus aureus cream shows the preservative requirement at 3% concentrations with 100% of reduction and 3 logs reductions on 7th days of the test; gambier extract in Enterobacter aerogenes cream shows the preservative requirement at 2%, 2,5%, 3% and 3,5% concentrations with 100% of reduction and 3 logs reductions on 28th days of the test; gambier extract in Candida albicans cream shows the preservative requirement at 2%, 2,5% and 3% concentrations with 100% of reduction and 3 logs reductions on 7th days of the test; gambier extract in Aspergillus niger cream shows the preservative requirement at 2,5% and 3% concentrations with 100% of reduction and 3 logs reductions on 7th days of the test. Dry water extract of gambier has the potential that can be used as a microbial preservative in cream type of cosmetics

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a non-communicable disease that is still a problem in Indonesia, with 19.5 million people aged 20 – 79 years in Indonesia suffer from it. Fiber is known to produce short-chain fatty acid which is beneficial for people with DM. Bobiku brownie with yellow sweet potato flour and stevia sweetener is an alternative snack for people with DM to meet the recommendations regarding fiber consumption. This study aims to determine the effect of the amount of yellow sweet potato flour used on the organoleptic quality and preference level of Bobiku brownies as a high-fiber snack. This research was experimental with completely randomized design by using 3 treatments and 3 replications. Organoleptic test was conducted by panelists. Energy and nutrient analysis were conducted a Saraswanti Indo Genetech Laboratory. The organoleptic test analysis results showed that different amount of yellow sweet potato flour used affected the aroma, texture, and preference level of Bobiku brownies (p<0.05). However, different amounts of yellow sweet potato flour used did not affect color and taste of Bobiku brownies. The product that panelists liked most was the brownie with 50 g of yellow sweet potato flour and 50 g of wheat flour. One serving (75 g) of brownies contained 228 kcal of energy, 7.6 g of protein, 6.14 g of fat, 34.7 g of carbohydrates, and 6.54 g of fiber. Abstract

A vortex mixer can be utilized for repetitive sample-mixing tasks that need execution over a predetermined period. The subject of this study is a device known as a vortex mixer, which is used to rapidly homogenize liquids in a compact container. The module's design aims to produce a portable vortex mixer with an object detector for use in the solution-mixing process. The module comprises a circuit controlled by ESP32, an infrared sensor for object detection, and a TFT LCD ILI9341 for display. A charging battery can also charge this device, making it easier to transport. This instrument has three degrees of speed: the low-level ranges from 300 to 500 RPM, the medium level ranges from 600 to 1500 RPM, and the high level extends from 1600 to 2500 RPM. The results reveal that the motor speed accuracy of the vortex mixers is low at 95.78%, medium at 97.49%, and high at 99.19%. Moreover, the battery life is lengthy, with an average charging time of 2.62 hours and a discharging time of 9.7 hours for 300 RPM; 7.34 hours for 600 RPM; and 3.03 hours for 1600 RPM, respectively.

Abstract

Indonesia has a "Double Burden of Malnutrition". Based on Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) data for 2018, the prevalence of undernutrition is estimated at 13.8%, while the prevalence of overweight is reported to be at 8%. Balanced nutrition is crucial for normal growth, physical development, and cognitive abilities. The key to the success or failure of nutritional status in toddlers lies in the mother's knowledge regarding nutrition. Nutrition education is an effort to overcome nutritional problems by increasing mothers' knowledge. The purpose of this study is to examine the difference in mothers' knowledge of balanced nutrition for preschool children before and after receiving nutrition education using PowerPoint slides at biMBA AIUEO Unit Vila Bintaro Indah. The research method employed in this study was a pre-experimental design using a one-group pre-test-post-test approach.. The total population in this study is 80 individuals and a total of 31 mothers were included as participants taken utilized purposive sampling. Data was collected through a questionnaire (Google Form). Statistical analysis were conducted using the Paired Sample t-test. The results showed that there is a significant difference in the mother's knowledge regarding balanced nutrition for preschool children with p = 0.000 (p <0.05). The suggestion given is that the school encouraged to collaborate with the local Community Health Center (Puskesmas) to provide continuous nutrition education for preschool children.

Abstract

Overweight and central obese in Indonesia are increasing. The 2018 basic health research showed the prevalence of central obese at the age of 15 years was 31.0%. The prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia is 34.1%. The purpose of this study was to describe the body mass index according to age (BMI/A) and the ratio of waist-hip circumference (WHR) to blood pressure in class XI MAN 4 Jakarta. The study used a descriptive approach with a cross sectional design. The sampling method used a proportional systematic random sampling formula and the number of samples representing each department was determined by the stratified random sampling formula. The research was conducted on at MAN 4 Jakarta on 52 students of class XI for the academic year 2021/2022 aged 16-17 years. While the primary data collected were sample characteristics used interview , body mass index by age used microtoise tools and weight scale, waist- hip ratio, and blood pressure. Results: BMI/A most of the subjects had good nutritional status 63.5%, WHR most of the subjects were in the no-risk category 61.5%, most of the subjects had normal blood pressure 76.9%. There was no significant relationship between age, gender, family history of hypertension and waist-to-hip-ratio circumference (WHR) to blood pressure (p>0,05) and to a significant relationship between body mass index by age (BMI/A) to blood pressure (p<0,05). Conclusion: There is a normal blood pressure tendencies are common those who had a body mass index by age (BMI/A) are overweight or obese and waist-to-hip-ratio circumference (WHR) are at risk

Abstract

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19 ) is caused by the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) virus and has a fast spread rate. The treatment for COVID-19 was at the beginning of the pandemic, and until now, it cannot be determined with certainty, so various efforts have been made. Treatment can be in the form of antiviral therapy until the use of antibiotics given at the start of the pandemic. The aim of this study is to identify antiviral and antibiotic use patterns in COVID-19 patients at a government hospital in Bengkulu City, Indonesia. This research was conducted by retrospective collection using secondary data (Medical Records) of COVID-19 patients hospitalized at a Regional General Hospital (RSUD) Dr M. Yunus Bengkulu from June to September 2021. In this study, a sample of 232 patient medical records was obtained. Common symptoms in confirmed COVID-19 patients were weakness (76.29%), cough (67.67%), shortness of breath (65.52%), flu (43.10%), fever (42.24%), etc. In this study, the most comorbid disease was hypertension (10.34%). There are three types of antiviral prescribed for COVID-19 patients: Favipiravir (49.56%), Remdesivir (19.82%), and Oseltamivir (15.51%), but 15.08% of patients were not prescribed antivirals. The prescription of antibiotics in this study varied, Azithromycin (53.02%), Ceftriaxone (24.57%), Cefixime (18.53%), and several other types of antibiotics, while 9.91% of patients were not given antibiotics. Antiviral therapy for COVID-19 patients was Favipiravir, Remdesivir, and Oseltamivir. Favipiravir is the most widely used antiviral drug. Meanwhile, the most widely used antibiotic therapy for COVID-19 patients is Azithromycin.
