Abstract

The postpartum period plays a critical role in establishing successful breastfeeding. Adequate breast milk production is essential to meet the nutritional needs of infants, particularly during the first 1,000 Days of Life (HPK), a window that significantly impacts a child's growth and development. Among the various factors that influence lactation, consistent and proper breast care practices by postpartum mothers are believed to support milk production. This study employed an analytical observational design using a cross-sectional approach. A total of 32 postpartum mothers at Klinik Pratama Hugo Hasena were selected through a total sampling technique. Data on breast care practices and breast milk production were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed using the chi-square statistical test. The findings revealed that the majority of mothers (81.3%) performed breast care routinely, and the same proportion (81.3%) reported sufficient breast milk production. Statistical analysis showed a significant relationship between breast care and breast milk production (p = 0.000). The study concludes that breast care has a significant association with breast milk production among postpartum mothers. These results highlight the importance of educating and empowering mothers on proper breast care techniques as part of postnatal support to promote successful breastfeeding. Healthcare providers are encouraged to enhance postpartum education programs, particularly focusing on the role of breast care in supporting optimal lactation and infant health during the critical early stages of life.

Abstract

Diarrhea is one of the most prevalent health problems in Indonesia, especially in areas with limited access to clean water and adequate sanitation facilities. In addition, diarrhea is one of the leading causes of death in the world, especially in children under 5 years of age, with approximately 2.2 million deaths each year. The purpose of this study was to increase community knowledge about diarrhea in Bagan Dalam Village, Tanjung Tiram Sub-District, Batu Bara Regency to prevent diarrhea. The research method used is quantitative with a pre-experimental approach designed in the form of one-group pre-test and post-test. Sampling using the accidental sampling formula obtained 30 samples in this study. This research instrument uses a questionnaire with data analysis techniques using paired simple t-test. Based on the results of the pre-test and post-test tests, there was no significant difference in knowledge between before and after counseling, with an average value of 0.833. This is because the education was only conducted once, so the impact on changes in the level of knowledge of the community who became the research sample was not large.

Abstract

Hypertension is theoretically influenced by several risk factors. The first risk factors are those that cannot be changed such as age, gender, and genetics. Modifiable risk factors include education, knowledge, behavior, and attitude. This study aims to identify factors that contribute to hypertension in Bangun Sari Village, Datuk Tanah Datar Sub-district. This study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional analytic design. The study population consisted of all residents of Bangun Sari Village, with a total population of 4,099 people and 1,148 households. The sample was taken using a purposive sampling technique, with the Lameshow formula, resulting in 94 respondents. Data were collected through observation sheets. The results showed a statistically significant relationship between age, knowledge, behavior, attitude, and occupation with the incidence of hypertension (with a p-value of 0.001 for all variables except education). There was a statistically significant association between employment status and the incidence of hypertension (p-value = 0.002). However, no significant association was found between education level and the incidence of hypertension (p-value = 0.501). Therefore, there is a statistically significant relationship between age, knowledge, behavior, attitude, and occupation with the incidence of hypertension, but there is no significant relationship between education level with the incidence of hypertension in Bangun Sari Village.

Abstract

Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever is a disease caused by the dengue virus due to the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito. Patients will go through 3 phases of this disease: fever, critical, and recovery. A complication that often occurs in the critical phase is dengue shock syndrome. This case report aimed to provide an overview of nursing care for patients in the critical phase of dengue hemorrhagic fever at a private hospital in West Jakarta. Care was provided by Diploma III nursing students for 4 days using a nursing process approach that includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Data was collected using interview techniques, observation, and physical and diagnostic examinations. The assessment showed that the patient was in a grade II critical phase, characterized by the appearance of petechiae on both superior extremities without a tourniquet test. The nursing problems raised were the risk of hypovolemia, the risk of bleeding, acute pain, and nausea. The interventions provided focus on preventing bleeding and fluid management. The implementation includes providing appropriate fluid resuscitation, monitoring blood hematology laboratories, and encouraging patients to rest in bed to reduce the risk of other bleeding. On the fourth day of treatment, three nursing problems were solved: the risk of bleeding, acute pain and nausea. The nursing problem that was partially resolved is the risk of hypovolemia. In conclusion, in dengue hemorrhagic patients in the critical phase, nurses need to pay primary attention to the possibility of hypovolemia even though it is not necessarily an actual problem.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the main health problems faced by people throughout the world, including in Indonesia. Uncontrolled hypertension can cause various complications such as heart disease, stroke and kidney damage. Microalbuminuria, namely the presence of small amounts of albumin in the urine, is an early indicator of kidney damage. In hypertensive patients, microalbuminuria can be an early sign of hypertensive nephropathy, which is a serious complication of high blood pressure. Compliance with taking medication affects blood pressure control. This study aims to evaluate the relationship between adherence to antihypertensive medication and microalbumin levels in hypertension prolanis patients. This research is observational analytic with a cross sectional approach. Data was obtained prospectively in the period July-August 2024 with a sample size of 33 respondents. Medication adherence was taken using a questionnaire, and data on microalbuminuria levels was obtained through medical record data. Next, the results were subjected to a chi-square statistical correlation test. Microalbumin levels and medication adherence blood pressure lowering medication, obtained a value of p = 0.0 (p < 0.05) which indicates that statistically there is a significant relationship between microalbumin levels and compliance of taking blood pressure lowering medication. The frequency distribution of hypertensive sufferers with high microalbumin levels, namely ≥ 30 mg/dL, shows a result of 51.6% (17 patients).

Abstract

College students are in early adulthood, a developmental stage vulnerable to psychological pressure, including social anxiety. One of the contributing factors to this condition is authoritarian parenting, which is typically characterized by strict control, lack of open communication, and high parental expectations. These traits can negatively affect an individual’s mental health. This study employed a quantitative research design with a cross-sectional and correlational approach. A total of 75 undergraduate nursing students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sukabumi were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through the Parenting Styles and Dimensions Questionnaire (PSDQ) and the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS), and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results revealed that 65.3% of the respondents experienced authoritarian parenting, and most reported moderate to severe levels of social anxiety. Statistical analysis indicated a significant relationship between authoritarian parenting and social anxiety among students (p = 0.001). Authoritarian parenting was positively correlated with social anxiety levels. The higher the authoritarian style in parenting, the higher the level of social anxiety experienced by the students. This study highlights the importance of balanced parenting approaches and emotional support to minimize the risk of social anxiety disorders among college students.
