Abstract

Sanggar Anak Sungai Deli (Sasude) is a community-based learning center focused on educational and creative training activities. Its primary aim is to empower children living in the outskirts along the Deli River by nurturing their potential in various fields, including the arts, literature, environmental awareness, and other forms of creativity. This community service initiative aims to provide literacy mentoring to the children of the sanggar through an interactive and participatory writing approach. The core focus is to cultivate narrative thinking and self-expression through hands-on writing activities. The implementation process is structured into three systematic stages: planning, execution, and evaluation. During the implementation phase, participants were given the opportunity to write a narrative with the theme “I Will Become”, accompanied by visual illustrations to enhance the meaning of their writing. Following this, the children were encouraged to present their work in front of their peers as an exercise in oral literacy and confidence building. The results of the program indicate a notable improvement in the children’s understanding of literacy, particularly in selecting appropriate vocabulary, organizing ideas coherently, and articulating their thoughts verbally. More than just writing, the children began to grasp that literacy involves thinking critically, communicating effectively, and reflecting on the meaning behind their own narratives. These skills are expected to serve as a valuable foundation for their personal development in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the form and function of directive speech in Raditya Dika's podcast entitled "THOSE WHO NEED HELP, WATCH THIS!". The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach. Data in the form of oral speech containing directives were obtained through listening and recording techniques, then transcribed, identified, and classified into six forms, namely requests, questions, orders, prohibitions, granting permissions, and advice. The results of the study showed that there were 34 directive speeches consisting of 3 requests, 15 questions, 3 commands, 9 prohibitions, 1 granting of permission, and 1 advice. The most dominant form is the question. Pragmatically, the dominance of the directive of questions shows that the educational strategies in this podcast are more realized through information extraction and dialogical clarification. In addition, the existence of prohibitory speech and advice related to fire safety procedures shows that there are aspects of preventive education and increased public safety awareness. Thus, this podcast has the potential to be used as a medium for learning Indonesian, especially in the study of directive speech, language politeness, and persuasive communication in digital discourse.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze authoritative parenting styles in the novel Ayahku (Bukan) Pembohong by Tere Liye and to examine its relevance to literary appreciation instruction in high school. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method using a literary psychology approach. The data consist of text excerpts sourced from the novel Ayahku (Bukan) Pembohong by Tere Liye. Data was collected through a reading-and-noting technique, involving a thorough and repetitive reading of the text. Data analysis utilized the Miles & Huberman interactive model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The data was classified based on indicators of authoritative parenting according to Baumrind and then analyzed for its relevance based on aspects of instructional material selection according to Rahmanto. The findings indicate that the authoritative parenting style in the analyzed novel is characterized by dialogic communication, modeling of values, rational control, and emotional warmth, which contribute to the development of the child character’s independent, empathetic, responsible, and emotionally mature personality. Furthermore, the novel’s relevance as instructional material examined from linguistic, psychological, and cultural background perspectives has the potential to develop students’ critical and reflective thinking skills through literary appreciation courses in high school.
