Abstract

The phenomenon of mosque fundraising on highways represents an established social practice in Indonesian society, particularly in Bangkalan Regency. This practice creates a unique dynamic between religious legitimacy and social norms that warrants comprehensive examination. This study aims to analyze the practice of mosque fundraising on Bangkalan Regency highways from the perspective of Islamic legal sociology, focusing on the interaction between religious and social norms that shape this practice. Employing a qualitative approach with field research methods, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The findings indicate that mosque fundraising practices on highways receive support from local religious leaders despite contradicting the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) fatwa. This support creates strong social acceptance, making it an integral part of local tradition that is difficult to modify. However, this practice raises challenges related to road user safety and trustworthy fund management. It can be concluded that the practice of mosque fundraising on Bangkalan Regency highways is formed through complex interactions between religious and social norms that mutually legitimize each other. Better management is needed to avoid negative impacts on society and increase awareness of public safety.

Abstract

The condition of academic integrity in Indonesia is currently facing serious challenges with the rampant practice of jockeying in the world of education. This phenomenon threatens the principles of honesty and responsibility that should be the main foundation in the learning process. The purpose of this study is to comprehensively analyze the role of the integration of the concepts of faith, knowledge and charity in revitalizing the pillars of academic integration in the midst of rampant jockeying practices. This research uses library research. The data collection technique uses the content analysis method by searching literature from various sources. Theoretically, this research can enrich the literature on academic integrity by integrating the concepts of faith, science, and charity, which provides a new perspective in understanding the relationship between religious principles and academic behavior. Based on this research, it is found that through the cultivation of spiritual values (faith), strengthening of understanding and correct knowledge ( ilān ), and the application of real actions ( amal ) in the learning process, it is expected that unethical practices such as jockeying can be minimized. Thus, education in Indonesia can return to its original essence, which is to produce a generation that is not only intellectually intelligent, but also has strong character and integrity. strong character and high integrity.

Abstract

This research explores the adaptation of Islamic law through local wisdom, particularly the gotong royong tradition, in Muslim minority communities in Tomohon and Tana Toraja. Using a qualitative approach and case study method, the research involved 20 informants, including Islamic religious leaders, traditional leaders, and active Muslim community members. The findings show that the gotong royong tradition facilitates the practice of Islamic law in marriage, zakat management, and religious celebrations by integrating the values of inclusivity and local cultural solidarity. Harmony is created through intensive dialogue between Islamic and Christian religious leaders, strengthening interfaith relationships. Adjustments, such as the use of moderate adhan volume and distribution of zakat to all levels of society regardless of religion, serve as tangible evidence of this adaptation. This research contributes to the development of Fiqh Nusantara, demonstrating the flexibility of Islamic law that can align with local culture while supporting social inclusion. Practically, these results provide insights for policymakers to design policies that support religious harmony in multicultural regions. This research affirms that Islamic law not only maintains its essential teachings but can also become an integral part of pluralistic society. The implications of this research open opportunities for further studies on the harmonization of Islamic law in other minority communities.

Abstract

Women's leadership in Islamic philanthropic institutions continues to face various structural and cultural challenges, despite having great potential for social transformation. These challenges include limited representation in leadership positions, cultural barriers, and complexities in aligning traditional and modern management approaches. This study analyzes the dynamics of women's leadership in Islamic philanthropic institutions, focusing on role transformation, adaptation strategies, and the impact of dual roles as institutional leaders and socio-religious activists. This qualitative research employs a single case study design at BAZNAS Sleman Regency, using in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis during July 2024. Data were analyzed using a thematic analysis approach with method triangulation to ensure findings' credibility. Women's leadership demonstrated effectiveness in improving institutional performance, evidenced by a 16.7% increase in zakat collection from 9.6 Billion to 11.2 Billion within a year. The integrative leadership model combining institutional roles and socio-religious activism proved effective in the context of Islamic philanthropy. The success of women's leadership in Islamic philanthropy depends on the ability to integrate traditional values with modern management and develop adaptation strategies suitable to local socio-cultural contexts.

Abstract

This research examines the transformation of political communication strategies in the digital era, specifically the use of Instagram by Tegal Regency's candidate Regents in the 2024 Regional Election. The high social media penetration in Indonesia, with 97% of Instagram users actively interacting, creates new opportunities and challenges in regional-level political communication. The research aims to analyze the digital personal branding strategies and political communication effectiveness of both candidates through Instagram. The research method employs a descriptive qualitative approach with social media content analysis using Nvivo 12 Pro, focusing on Instagram accounts @bimasakti19 and @ischak.mr during the September-October 2024 period. Research findings show significant strategy differences between the two candidates: @bimasakti19 implements an interactive approach with consistent hashtag #LOKENPANKAYAKIEBAE and actively reposts community support, while @ischak.mr focuses on field activity documentation and direct interaction. Word cloud analysis reveals the dominance of keywords related to public service and local issues. In conclusion, Instagram has become a vital instrument in local political communication transformation, creating a more dynamic dialogue space between candidates and voters, although still requiring balance between digital branding strategy and political message authenticity.

Abstract

The participation of first-time voters in Indonesia's 2024 General Election presents new challenges in the digital era, particularly regarding digital literacy to counter misinformation and hoaxes. This study aims to identify the digital literacy skills of students from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), University of Bengkulu, in addressing political misinformation. Utilizing a digital ethnographic method with a qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis involving eight first-time voters aged 17–19 years. The findings reveal that social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter are the primary sources of political information, despite their vulnerability to hoaxes. Respondents demonstrated basic skills in identifying false information, such as fact-checking through applications and engaging in group discussions. However, they were also exposed to algorithmic echo chambers that amplify information biases. The study concludes that strong digital literacy skills can enhance responsible political participation. Strengthening digital literacy programs is essential to support the integrity of democracy.

Abstract

The issue of political dynasties has increasingly emerged in democratic systems, including in Indonesia. The political dynasty of Jokowi's family is interesting to analyze as it demonstrates how political communication can be strategically implemented in building a positive image and gaining broad public support. This research aims to examine how Jokowi's family's political communication shapes the image of their political dynasty. The theories used are political communication and framing. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach to illustrate political communication in forming a positive image of Jokowi's family political dynasty. Data was obtained through literature studies utilizing various sources such as books, scientific journals, research reports, magazines, and other related research articles. The analysis used in this research is content analysis by analyzing textual, visual, or symbolic data to identify meaning. This research is limited to the period from the beginning of Jokowi's career as Mayor of Solo until the formation of his family's political influence at the national level, particularly approaching the 2024 Election. This research finds two main political communication strategies: through family political regeneration and consistent framing use. The researchers found that the political success of Jokowi's family demonstrates the effectiveness of planned and long-term-oriented political communication strategies. Through portraying themselves as a family close to the people, both through direct and symbolic messages, they have successfully built public trust, which became the key to consecutive victories in various elections, both by Jokowi himself and his family members.

Abstract

Islamic economics has emerged as a significant alternative financial system in recent decades. In Manado, as a region with a Muslim minority, Islamic economic practices demonstrate unique dynamics within a multicultural society context. This research aims to analyze how Islamic economics functions as an identity negotiation mechanism for the Muslim minority in Manado, focusing on identifying integration success factors, stakeholder roles, and formulating an adaptive development model. Using qualitative methods with a literature study approach enriched by spontaneous observations, this research reveals three main findings. First, the successful integration of Islamic economic practices is supported by universal value recognition, market-based adaptation, and social capital development. Second, stakeholders' active role in Islamic economic adaptation and development is manifested through inclusive leadership, cross-cultural business partnerships, and multicultural understanding promotion. Third, an adaptive Islamic economic development model has been successfully formulated with key components including an inclusive economic framework, multi-stakeholder collaboration, and cultural integration mechanisms. These findings indicate that Islamic economics can develop sustainably in plural societies through local context adaptation.

Abstract

Character education in Indonesian Islamic boarding schools faces the challenge of integrating national values with religious teachings. This study examines the implementation of extracurricular activities at Muhammadiyah Darul Arqam Gombara Islamic Boarding School in strengthening the Pancasila Student Profile, particularly through an integrated approach combining Islamic values and national character development. Using a qualitative case study design, this research collected data through in-depth interviews with 15 participants, participatory observations of extracurricular activities, and document analysis over six months. The findings reveal that the integration of various extracurricular programs - including arts, sports, Hizbul Wathan scouts, Tapak Suci martial arts, and the Muhammadiyah Student Association - significantly contributes to character development in five key areas: discipline, independence, social skills, moral values, and academic-nonacademic balance. The study highlights how these activities serve as effective platforms for practicing Pancasila values through experiential learning. However, challenges remain in terms of facility limitations, time management, and mentor training. The research concludes that structured extracurricular activities in Islamic boarding schools can effectively support character education when designed holistically, integrating both religious and national values. This model offers valuable insights for other Islamic educational institutions seeking to strengthen character education through extracurricular programs.
