Abstract

this study aims to determine the use of the Rumah Budaya Museum in Banda Naira as a source of learning about history. The research method used is qualitative, with a case study approach. The data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects included history teachers, students, and Rumah Budaya Museum managers. The results of the study show that: (1) the role of the history teacher in utilizing the Rumah Budaya Museum as a source of history learning is to plan, implement, and evaluate history lessons by referring to competency standards and essential competencies that are appropriate to regional history material; (2) students' learning motivation when visiting the Rumah Budaya Museum is high because they can directly see, touch, and study historical objects in the museum; (3) the obstacles faced by history teachers and students in utilizing the Rumah Budaya Museum as a source of history learning are time, cost, and licensing limitations. This study provides suggestions so related parties can work together to overcome these obstacles and develop a history-learning design that utilizes the Rumah Budaya Museum as a source of history learning.

Abstract

STEAM, an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics, represents an instructional approach closely linked to children's cognitive abilities. The combination of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and arts in the learning process can prepare students with 21st-century skills. The objective of this study is to examine the STEAM learning model in primary education through a literature review, aiming to enhance students' intelligence. This research is qualitative in nature, utilizing a literature review to connect existing research and fill gaps in prior studies. The findings of this study reveal that the STEAM learning model for children can be implemented by creating a safe and enjoyable learning environment. It provides children with opportunities for exploration, discovery, construction, experimentation, prediction, seeking answers to complex questions, and connecting knowledge to real-life situations, thereby stimulating their intelligence.

Abstract

This participatory research aims the co-design of an optimal distance education system adapted to rural areas, in collaboration with local stackholders. We adapted semi-structured interviews with each group (school principals, teachers, students, parents) that allowed us first to evaluate the teaching models used in their environment. Secondly, with a collaborative working group, the results of the analysis are used to identify and plan corrective actions for these models. The outcome of the corrective actions allowed us to co-design in each school an optimal 3D model to improve the performance and use of distance or hybrid teaching practices. The idea of the designed model is to set an internet generator in the schools to provide good network to the whole region. The stakeholders also designed their specific tablet, which is connected to an intranet, and that only works between the school and the students’ devices, ensuring that the student would not have access to any other content than education. The teacher will have a similar device, he will receive the students' comments, and he will be able to clarify or answer the students’ questions individually or in groups, online or during the face-to-face lesson. Students wanted their device to be uploaded with interactive lessons to make them feel like they were in a genuine class. In addition, they wanted parental aid during the home study process.

Abstract

Organizing self-study is essential during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many teachers and students are faced with the problems of remote learning of educational material. Therefore, it is advisable to create and highlight those methods that will facilitate the study of biology. The purpose of this research was to develop approaches, in which students are motivated for self-study and self-assessment with minimal teacher guidance. Schools were selected randomly for the study. Each of them had 4 cohorts per course. In such a cohort, three experimental groups and one control group were randomly selected. One experimental group was given both success criteria and a checklist, another experimental group was given success criteria, and a third experimental group was given a checklist. As a result of the research, it can be seen that the method of teaching the material, as well as the means, affect the success criteria. The use of different methods of self-assessment in the learning process increases the knowledge and motivation of students to study biology. For example, after testing, the students were allowed to independently check their work and analyze their mistakes, or use different colors to highlight those tasks that the student wrote himself (the answer is correct), those with errors and those, with which difficulties arose. In addition, one can improve their communication skills and bonding with their classmates by helping others check their work. The findings will help teachers and other educators meet the educational challenges of the twenty-first century.
