Abstract

AbstractGoldfish (Cyprinus carpio) is a quite developed freshwater fish for consumption in Indonesia, and hence, demand for goldfish products is high enough. The significant increase in production is caused by the breeding activities. Bacteria attack is one of the factors affecting the amount of production from fish sales, which results in the amount of fish production decreasing drastically due to disruption of growth or mass deaths. Therefore, the aim of this research is to identify what type of bacteria infecting goldfish (Cyprinus carpio) in the Lambaro traditional market, Aceh Besar through biochemical tests. Carried out from December 18th 2023 to January 9th 2024, the samples were taken from 3 sellers, with 5 individuals per seller. Bacterial identification was executed at the Fish Quarantine Station Laboratory, Quality Control and Safety of Aceh Besar Fishery Products. The results of biochemical tests found 4 genera of bacteria that infect goldfish, namely Aeromonas sp., Escherichia coli., Salmonella sp, and Shigella sp. The most common type of bacteria found was Aeromonas sp, which was found in 41 goldfish samples. Key words: Goldfish, identification, biochemical test

Abstract

Indonesia as a maritime country has great potential in the fisheries and marine sector. One of the development strategies implemented is the minapolitan concept, namely the development of a fisheries-based area integrated with other supporting sectors. This study aimed at analyzing the impact of minapolitan area development on the economy and ecotourism of community in Lango Village, Pante Ceureumen District. The research method used descriptive quantitative and qualitative through surveys, in-depth interviews, observations, and secondary data analysis. The results showed that the implementation of the minapolitan concept contributed in increasing community income up to 25% in the first year and creating new business opportunities and jobs. In terms of ecotourism, there has been a significant increase in the number of tourists along with the development of supporting infrastructure. However, challenges such as limited infrastructure, community readiness for new technologies, and the risk of natural resource exploitation still need to be considered in the implementation of sustainable policies. Therefore, the minapolitan area management strategy must consider economic, social, and environmental aspects holistically so that the benefits could be savored for a long term.

Abstract

The potential of flying fish (Decapterus sp.) in Sangihe is relatively abundant, yet the catch frequently cannot be absorbed by the market in the peak season. One alternative to overcome the excess catch is to process it into salted fish products. The quality of salted fish is highly dependent on salt concentration and soaking time. This study aimed to observe the effect of soaking time on the sensory quality of flying salted fish. This research was an experimental research with two treatments for the duration of soaking in salt solution with each treatment repeated three times. The research stages included making salted fish using 20% salt concentration with 12 and 24 hours of soaking. Furthermore, the sensory assessment was carried out (SNI no. 8273: 2016) with the parameters of appearance, taste, odor, and texture. Storage was carried out for 30 days at room temperature before being tested for the presence of mold. The results showed that the treatment of soaking time only had a real influence on the sensory value of the appearance of flying salted fish. In contrast, the soaking time did not affect the sensory values of odor (8,47±0,6-8,53±0,4), taste (8,33±0,9-8,40±0,6), and texture (7,87±0,7-7,93±1,0). After being stored for 30 days at room temperature, it was seen that mold had grown on flying salted fish. The study results showed that the 12-hour soaking time had a better value than the 24-hour soaking time.

Abstract

Kerinci Lake is a type of tectonic lake located in the Kerinci Regency, Jambi Province. The fishing gear such as tangkul/ pesap, nets (trawls), and traps (lukah) are commonly used in Telago Village. This research aims to investigate the effect of soaking duration of trap fishing gear on the catch of freshwater lobster. This research was conducted from February 27 to March 18, 2024. An experimental fishing method was employed, comparing soaking durations of 24 hours and 12 hours. Quantitative data were analyzed using frequency of occurrence, followed by T-test analysis. The results showed that a 24-hour soaking period yielded 237 lobsters with an average weight of 34.75 grams, with the highest frequency of occurrence at 44% and the lowest at 24%, averaging 33.20%. In contrast, a 12-hour soaking period resulted in 119 lobsters with an average weight of 33.88 grams, with the highest frequency of occurrence at 32% and the lowest at 8%, averaging 17.60%. T-test analysis indicated no significant effect of soaking duration on the number of lobsters caught, average weight, or depth-related environmental parameters. However, significant effects were observed for environmental parameters such as temperature and pH. In conclusion, while soaking duration does not significantly affect the catch of freshwater lobster (Cherax quadricarinatus), the 24-hour soaking period resulted in a higher yield.
