Abstract

The increasing number of cruise tourist arrivals at Tanjung Emas Port in Semarang and Tanjung Perak Port in Surabaya requires travel agencies to implement professional and well-structured operational management. However, field findings reveal gaps between Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and their actual implementation at Bondjava Travel Tours, which affect service quality. This study analyzes the dynamics of operational management in handling cruise tourists, covering planning, implementation, supervision, operational challenges, and response strategies. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis conducted in Semarang and Surabaya. The results show that Bondjava Travel Tours has established structured planning and coordination mechanisms; however, several challenges remain, particularly in the consistency of SOP implementation, the quality of human resources, the readiness of transportation facilities, and coordination among service providers. These constraints influence the effectiveness of service delivery and the overall tourist experience. The findings highlight the importance of strengthening quality control systems, improving human resource competencies, and enhancing integration within the tourism service supply chain. Therefore, strategic efforts are needed, including refining more applicable SOPs, intensifying human resource training, strengthening coordination among stakeholders, and implementing continuous monitoring systems. These measures are expected to improve operational effectiveness and support the sustainability of cruise tourism services.

Abstract

Scientific publication literacy is a crucial competency for students completing their final research projects, yet many remain unfamiliar with predatory journals and proper journal submission procedures. This community service activity was conducted at the Geography Education Study Program, Nusa Cendana University, targeting 103 sixth-semester and final-semester students who were actively writing their theses. A preliminary survey revealed that 68 out of 103 participants did not know how to verify journal credibility or understand the stages of journal submission, both nationally and internationally. To address this, a structured training was conducted focusing on predatory journal detection, national journal classification under the Sinta 1 to 6 indexing system, and the complete journal submission process from manuscript preparation to publication. Following the training, post-test results showed that approximately 85 participants were able to distinguish predatory journals from legitimate ones, understand the journal submission stages, and differentiate between national and international journal categories. These results demonstrate that targeted training significantly improved students' scientific publication literacy and prepared them to make informed decisions when selecting journals for publishing their research findings.

Abstract

Waste is a major problem facing Indonesian and global communities. Poorly managed household organic waste can lead to environmental pollution and public health problems. One environmentally friendly solution is the use of ecoenzymes, a liquid fermented from organic waste that is beneficial for hygiene and simple farming. This community service activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of the Hulung Hamlet community in processing organic waste into ecoenzymes as an effort to reduce household waste volume. Implementation methods include education through outreach, interactive discussions, and live demonstrations of the ecoenzyme production process using readily available organic materials. Evaluation was conducted through participant observation and increased understanding before and after the activity. The results of the community service show an increase in community knowledge about the benefits of ecoenzymes and the ability of participants to practice ecoenzyme production independently. Furthermore, there has been a change in community attitudes, leading to greater concern for organic waste management. The recommendations from this activity are the need for continued mentoring and the sustainable implementation of ecoenzymes to support a cleaner and healthier environment in Hulung Hamlet.

Abstract

Singasari Village, Jonggol District, Bogor Regency has abundant banana fruit potential; however, its utilization is still limited to fresh fruit, so it has not yet provided optimal economic added value for the community. This Community Service activity aims to improve the community's knowledge and skills in processing local bananas into Banana Sable Cookies as an alternative business product based on local food. The activity was carried out on 18 June 2026, involving 20 housewives through the stages of preparation, implementation, evaluation, and data analysis. Evaluation was conducted using pre-test, post-test, and a participant satisfaction questionnaire. The results showed an increase in the average pre-test score from 65 to 82 on the post-test, indicating an improvement in participants' understanding after the training. In addition, the satisfaction questionnaire results obtained an average score of 4,46, showing that participants gave a positive response to the material, learning media, delivery method, and implementation of the activity. This training not only improved participants' knowledge and skills in processing local bananas into value-added food products, but also increased participants' motivation to utilize local food potential as a home-based business opportunity. This activity is expected to support the community's economic empowerment while contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly No Poverty and Good Health and Well-being.

Abstract

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is one of the main causes of lower respiratory tract infections in children under five years old. Limited public knowledge regarding transmission, prevention, and early management of RSV increases the risk of severe complications, especially in rural areas such as Krapyak Village. This community service activity aimed to improve mothers’ knowledge regarding the early management of RSV infection through a health education program. The activity used a pre-experimental one-group pre-test post-test design involving 53 mothers with toddlers at Posyandu Mawar 6, Krapyak Village. The intervention included health education sessions, animated videos, interactive discussions, and leaflet distribution. Data were collected using a validated questionnaire and analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-ranks test and N-Gain score. The results showed a significant increase in respondents’ knowledge after the intervention, with most participants achieving a good level of knowledge and an average N-Gain score in the moderate category. The program was effective in improving mothers’ understanding of early RSV management and is expected to support better preventive practices among toddlers in Krapyak Village.

Abstract

Mangrove forests play a vital role in protecting coastal areas. They regulate hydrological functions and prevent natural disasters. At the same time, these ecosystems support biodiversity, provide habitat for fish, crustaceans, and birds, and support the livelihoods of local residents. In Lembung Village, Galis District, Pamekasan Regency, community service workers from the State Polytechnic of Malang, along with the “Sabuk Hijau” tourism awareness group, are expanding mangrove revegetation efforts to strengthen their coastline while creating sustainable livelihoods through silvofishery and the introduction of fish processing technology. Silvofishery itself is a system that combines mangrove forest conservation with mangrove crab cultivation, while fish processing technology is introduced to utilize the abundant fish available locally for sale in dried form. The purpose of this community service is to implement mangrove conservation in synergy with silvofishery, thus providing ecological, social, and economic benefits for the local community, preserving natural resources, and strengthening the ecotourism-based economy of coastal communities through the introduction of fish processing technology. The results of this community service include revegetation of one hectare of mangrove forest, construction of a silvofishery area, and a fish drying machine.

Abstract

Yakonde Village in Waibu District boasts abundant natural food resources, including sago palms (Metroxylon sagu Rottb), which grow wild throughout the lowlands. The potential for local raw materials, such as sago pulp waste, is enormous, but only a small portion is used for fuel briquettes. Therefore, empowerment and development strategies are needed for local communities, aiming to provide training in utilizing this waste. Through this outreach, local communities can create alternative fuels from this waste, thereby reducing dependence on fossil fuels and addressing fuel shortages. Sago pulp waste is a product that can increase local income by turning it into charcoal briquettes.

Abstract

Corruption remains a serious problem in the Indonesian legal system, not only because it causes state financial losses but also weakens public trust in government institutions and undermines the principle of the rule of law. The development of corruption shows an increasingly complex pattern, both in terms of the number of cases and the modus operandi used by perpetrators. This condition demands a systemic eradication strategy and the reconstruction of the evidentiary paradigm in criminal law to increase the effectiveness of law enforcement against corruption. This study aims to analyze the strategy to eradicate corruption through a systemic approach and examine the reconstruction of the evidentiary paradigm in Indonesian criminal law. This study uses a normative juridical research method with a statutory and conceptual approach, supported by a literature review of various criminal law and corruption eradication law literature. The results show that corruption eradication cannot rely solely on conventional law enforcement but requires a comprehensive legal system reform that includes institutional strengthening, regulatory refinement, and increased coordination between law enforcement agencies. In addition, the reconstruction of the evidentiary paradigm, particularly through expanding the meaning of the unlawful element and the implementation of more progressive evidentiary mechanisms, is a crucial factor in addressing the complexity of corruption. Therefore, strengthening the legal framework and evidentiary system is a strategic step in realizing more effective and equitable corruption eradication efforts in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aimed to explore students’ perceptions and challenges in learning vocabulary through the Spelling Bee method at an equivalency education institution. The research employed a qualitative case study approach involving students from a non-formal education program. Data were collected through interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings revealed that students generally had positive perceptions toward the implementation of the Spelling Bee method. The activity increased students’ motivation and interest in learning English by creating a fun, interactive, and engaging learning environment. In addition, the method helped students improve their vocabulary mastery, pronunciation, and spelling skills through repeated practice and active participation. Some students also reported that the method supported them in constructing simple sentences, although difficulties in grammar and sentence structure remained. Despite the positive outcomes, several challenges were identified, including anxiety and nervousness during the activity, difficulty in spelling and pronunciation, limited vocabulary knowledge, and challenges in constructing sentences. The findings also highlighted the importance of teacher and peer support in helping students overcome learning difficulties. Overall, the study concludes that the Spelling Bee method is an effective and enjoyable strategy for vocabulary learning in equivalency education, although additional instructional support is still needed to maximize students’ language development.

Abstract

Oral and dental health remain major public health concerns because they significantly influence quality of life and general well-being. Although community members often demonstrate adequate knowledge and positive attitudes toward oral health, these factors do not always translate into appropriate preventive behaviors. This study aimed to analyze the structural relationship between knowledge, attitude, and oral health practices among residents in the Puskesmas Pegirian area using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). A cross-sectional analytic study was conducted involving 250 adult participants selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a validated Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice (KAP) questionnaire related to oral health. Data analysis was performed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to evaluate both measurement and structural models. The results demonstrated that knowledge significantly influenced attitude (β = 0.61; p < 0.001), while attitude significantly influenced oral health practice (β = 0.54; p < 0.001). Knowledge also showed a direct but weaker effect on practice (β = 0.21; p < 0.05). Attitude acted as a significant mediating variable between knowledge and oral health behavior. These findings indicate that improving knowledge alone is insufficient to promote sustainable oral health behavior without strengthening positive attitudes. Therefore, oral health promotion programs at the primary health care level should integrate behavioral reinforcement and motivational strategies to achieve long-term behavioral change.
