Abstract

This article discusses the phenomenon of "War Takjil" (iftar hunting) during the holy month of Ramadan 1445 H which went viral on social media. The "War Takjil" or the war over iftar food is not only an economic competition between food traders who sell various snacks and refreshing drinks to break the fast but also the phenomenon of non-Muslim communities taking part in fighting for iftar food like Muslims. This paper aims to see the extent of the impact of the "War Takjil" phenomenon by non-Muslims in Ramadan 2024, both on religious harmony, especially Muslims and non-Muslims, as well as its socio-economic impact and impact on Muslims. In addition to the impact caused, there are several messages that emerge from the phenomenon, both positive and negative. This paper uses a qualitative research methodology with an ethnographic approach. The analysis was carried out by observing and documenting certain groups (social media users, especially big cities in Java). The data was collected through capturing conversations of netizens on social media. "War Takjil" is a phenomenon when non-Muslims performs solidarity and social concern for Muslims. This reflects the values of togetherness and empathy in society.

Abstract

This research was studied to find out the thoughts of Shah Ismail I in spreading Shi'a in Iran and how the existence of Shi'a theology can survive until today in Iran. In addition, this research also intends to describe the pattern of propagation carried out by Shah Ismail I in spreading Shi'ism during the Safavid empire. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with a historiographic approach and based on historical studies. The data sources in this research come from literature studies obtained from various books and journals relevant to research studies in the field of Islamic civilization studies regarding the history of the Safavid empire, especially Shah Ismail I. In the data collection stage, researchers collected literature sources obtained from various books and journals. In the data collection method, researchers collect secondary sources such as books, journals, and academic materials that are historical in nature. After that, researchers traced and compiled the data obtained based on the study of historical literature. After completing the data search and collection stage, the next stage is for researchers to analyze all the data obtained by collaborating all data from secondary sources, then all data is presented and analyzed narratively in the form of points. The results showed that Ismail I during his leadership embraced a theocratic pattern at the beginning of his leadership. Then, he also politicized religion as a way to expand his territory to other regions. Shah Ismail I also applied Shiite theology to the daily life of his people. This shows that the existence of the Shi'a sect in Iran is estimated to have started since the reign of the Safavid dynasty led by Shah Ismail I.

Abstract

This study investigates efforts to meet the needs of defense logistics during the Indonesian Revolutionary War in West Sumatra. The research emphasizes the strategic role of West Sumatra in the struggle for independence. The main question is how local fighters and communities managed to secure and distribute essential supplies, such as food, weapons, and ammunition, under inadequate conditions. Using historical methods, this study analyzes primary and secondary sources, including archival documents and official reports. The qualitative analysis aims to reconstruct the logistics operations and adaptive measures undertaken by the local population. The findings show that despite limited local resources, fighters employed a variety of innovative strategies. These efforts were crucial in maintaining supply chains and ensuring the sustainability of defense logistics. In conclusion, this study argues that success in war is largely determined by the ability to manage and meet logistical needs.

Abstract

\This study aims to analyze the conflict surrounding the rejection of the Methodist Church construction in Pematang Seleng Village, Labuhanbatu Regency, from a sociological perspective. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, data were gathered through observations, interviews, and literature reviews. The findings reveal that the conflict is driven by socio-cultural, political, economic, and religious factors. Socio-cultural factors are related to the norms and values of the predominantly Muslim local community, while political factors encompass both local and national interests. Economic factors include concerns over the potential depletion of local economic resources, and religious factors involve fears of Christianization and religious disparities. The conflict exemplifies the complexity of inter-religious relations in Indonesia, underscoring that tolerance and pluralism remain significant challenges. The study recommends resolving the conflict through inter-religious dialogue, education on tolerance and pluralism, law enforcement, and governmental efforts to promote harmonious inter-religious relations.

Abstract

Market revitalization is one of the flagship programs of the Surakarta government in eliminating the negative stigma of traditional markets. Jongke Market is one of the traditional markets that is carried out by the revitalization process so that it requires the traders to be relocated in order to facilitate the development process. This research will examine the social and economic impacts that arise due to the liminality process in the revitalization of Jongke Market. Qualitative method with descriptive approach is used in this research. The informants of this research are traders and buyers in Jongke Market. Data were obtained through an interview process and then analyzed through the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The results showed that the liminality process in Jongke market revitalization had a social impact in the form of fading social relationships of traders which resulted in social change, norm change, the emergence of ambiguity due to the repeated adaptation process, to the emergence of conflict. This impact affects the economic activities of traders because the small size of stalls results in reduced bargaining power of traders, the unstrategic location of stalls reduces customers, increases production capital, and reduces income. The destructive liminality process results in an economic crisis for traders.
