Abstract

This research focuses on the utilization of teaching materials in mathematics concerning fractions that are less engaging and fail to connect mathematical concepts with concrete and beneficial situations in students' lives. The aim of this study is to create a teaching product on Fractional Material using the PMRI approach and linking it with the Musi Rawas Tourism Context, which is not only scientifically valid but also easily applicable in practice. The research was conducted in Grade V at Elementary School 58 Lubuklinggau. This study is a developmental research that utilizes a development model adapted from the Four-D model. This model consists of four stages, namely: 1) the definition stage, 2) the design stage, 3) the development stage, and 4) the dissemination stage. Data were collected through interviews and questionnaires. Evaluation by experts yielded validation scores of 0.82 for language experts, 0.84 for media experts, and 0.73 for subject matter experts, with an average score of 0.80. Meanwhile, the analysis of teacher practicality showed an average score of 0.90, and for student practicality, the average score was 0.87. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Teaching Material on Fractions Based on PMRI and Utilizing the Musi Rawas Tourism Context has met the standards of validity and practicality, making it suitable for implementation in the learning process regarding fractions.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine which learning model was effective between Project-Based Learning (PjBL) and conventional learning models and describe the PjBL and conventional models on mathematics learning outcomes regarding data and diagram material in seventh grade SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Samarinda. This research was analyzed with mixed methods. The results showed the PjBL class an average posttest score which was higher than the average of the conventional class, with N-Gain scores of 80% (high criteria) and 49% (medium criteria) respectively. Another thing that proves the PjBL model was effective in improving math learning outcomes was the students' positive response, which was 81% with good criteria. This was also supported by the results of student interviews that they were interested and enthusiastic about learning math-based projects. Based on the research results, the PjBL model was described as a model that can arouse students' learning attention through projects related to daily activities. Therefore, the PjBL model was effectively applied to math learning because the understanding process was easier through real objects. Meanwhile, the conventional model applied was not enough to produce learning outcomes that reached the KKTP.

Abstract

Effective education that supports future development is the type of education that focuses on developing students' abilities. Developing digital game-based learning media can be an innovative choice to expand digital media and add variety to the learning process, especially in mathematics education. This digital media development uses the Unity platform and follows the Research and Development (RD) method with the 4D model. The research results show that the development of the "baret" digital game media is very practical, as evidenced by the assessments from media and content experts, and the majority of students also find this media very practical to use in the teaching and learning process.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the extent of mathematical critical thinking skills of junior high school students on the material of relations and functions. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach involving 3 students from 39 students of class VIII SMPN 3 Cihampelas as research subjects. Data was collected through giving test questions related to relation and function material and interviews to gain in-depth understanding. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that students' mathematical critical thinking skills in relation and function material can be classified as quite good. This can be seen from the number of students who are in the medium category. While some others are in the high and low categories. Students who have high mathematical critical thinking skills can fulfill all five indicators of mathematical critical thinking, namely elementery clarification, basic support, advance clarification, strategy and tactic, inference. Students in the medium category were only unable to fulfill the inference indicator, while students in the low category were only able to fulfill the elementary clarification indicator.

Abstract

In order to maximize the learning interest capacity of class VIII MTSS Al-Washliyah Tembung pupils for the 2023–2024 academic year, this research attempts to deepen the mathematics learning assessment technique utilizing Wordwall on flat-sided geometric material. Students might find the evaluation process more engaging and enjoyable when technology-based assessment formats like Wordwall are used. Using the ADDIE model approach (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and assessment), a development study was employed as the research technique to create a Wordwall-based mathematics learning assessment. Observation, surveys, interviews, and documentation are some of the techniques used to collect data. Techniques for analyzing data include validity, usefulness, and effectiveness analysis. The project yielded a Wordwall-based evaluation product for mathematics learning on flat-sided geometric material. Four validators gave this product an average score of 93%, which was used to declare it legitimate. This product received an 88% practicality grade after being provided practically by practitioners. The N-gain test scored 0.66 in the medium group based on the outcomes of the Wordwall-based learning assessment test. In summary, the assessment of Wordwall-based mathematics instruction using flat-sided geometric materials for MTSS Al-Washliyah Tembung's class VIII.

Abstract

The research aims to explain the suitability of teaching materials. This type of research and development (RD) uses the ADDIE model (analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation). The data in the research consists of qualitative and quantitative data. The research was carried out at SDN 10/IV Jambi City. Research data collection instruments include observation, interviews, questionnaires and documentation. The results of the feasibility test for teaching materials from language validation obtained an average score of 4.9 (very valid category). Media validation got an average score of 4.7 (very valid), material validation with an average score of 4.7 (very valid). The results of validating the practicality of teaching materials from educators' responses had an average score of 4.9 (very practical), and students got an average score of 4.6 (very practical). The conclusion of this research is that the development of ethnomathematics-based teaching materials for the traditional game of marbles using the Canva for education application for class VI elementary schools is very feasible (very valid and very practical).

Abstract

This research describes competency profile of certified mathematics teacher(s) and non-sertified mathematics teacher(s) which were investigated through TPACK. Applying a qualitative approach to case study research. The data were obtained through questionnaires, interviews, and observation techniques. Determining subjects was carried out using a purposive sampling technique, 2 types of subjects were obtained: 2 certified mathematics teachers and 2 non-certified mathematics teachers. Data analysis applying the spiral model by Creswell. Checking the validity of the data was carried out using observation and data triangulation techniques. The results of this research show: (1) certified mathematics teachers have very good TPACK abilities, they are able to choose, use and teach by ascertaining whether the learning class conditions support applying technology or not, (2) meanwhile, the results on non-certified mathematics teachers show good TPACK abilities. This means that teachers can choose, use, and teach learning that combines technology, content, and teaching approaches, but however they experience difficulties in adjusting learning using technology at the first time they used it.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe students' mathematical communication skills in Problem Based Learning viewed from students' learning styles. The type of research used is qualitative research supported by observation data, questionnaires and interviews. Validity testing is the credibility test, transferability, dependability, and confirmability. The results of the study indicate that students' mathematical communication skills viewed from learning styles include visual learning styles (30.4%), auditory (34.8%), and kinesthetic (26.1%) and visual-kinesthetic (8.7%). Mathematical ability indicators on a scale of 0-10 include 1) The ability to express ideas orally, in writing and demonstrate them and describe them visually (8.78), 2) The ability to understand, interpret, and evaluate mathematical ideas orally, in writing and demonstrate them and describe them visually (8.21), 3) The ability to use mathematical terms, notations, and their structures to present ideas describing relationships with situation models (5.30). The appropriate learning style is the key to student success in learning. The use of learning styles that are limited to only one form can cause an imbalance in absorbing information. Therefore, in learning activities, students need to be helped and directed to recognize the learning style that suits them so that learning objectives can be achieved effectively.
