Abstract

Academic burnout is a condition frequently encountered by students during the learning process at school, which can lead to academic procrastination. This study aims to examine the relationship between academic burnout and academic procrastination among grade VIII students at Indralaya 1 Public Junior High School. Quantitative method with correlational design was used, involving 171 students from 9 classes. The research instruments were burnout and academic procrastination scales distributed through Google Form. As a result, most students experienced burnout (37%) and academic procrastination (38%) in the moderate category. The correlation between the two variables was -0.521, indicating a negative or opposite relationship. This suggests that as academic burnout increases, academic procrastination tends to decrease, and vice versa. This research is anticipated to serve as a guideline for schools and teachers in addressing the issues of burnout and academic procrastination

Abstract

Bullying is a serious problem in education that has a negative impact on students' psychological and social well-being. This study examines the effectiveness of animated videos in classical guidance services as a strategy to prevent bullying at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Palembang. Using a one-group pretest-posttest experimental design on 37 students of grade XI 6, the instrument used was a validated Guttman scale test. Data analysis through paired sample t-test and N-Gain showed an increase in students' understanding from a pretest score of 51.76 to 84.05 in the posttest. The increase in N-Gain of 66% is quite effective. These results indicate that animated video media is effectively used in classical guidance services to increase students' awareness and understanding of bullying.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of emotion regulation on aggressive behavior among students at SMP Negeri 19 Kota Jambi. The research employed a quantitative approach with an ex post facto design and involved 256 students selected through stratified random sampling. The research instruments consisted of an emotion regulation questionnaire (29 items) and an aggressive behavior questionnaire (26 items). The results showed that students’ emotion regulation levels were categorized as high (74.1%), while their aggressive behavior was categorized as moderate (56.4%). Regression analysis revealed a significance value of 0.000 with r = 0.468, indicating that emotion regulation contributed 46.8% to aggressive behavior. The better the students' ability to regulate their emotions, the lower their tendency to exhibit aggressive behavior. These findings highlight the importance of preventive Guidance and Counseling services in strengthening students’ emotion regulation to reduce the potential for aggressive behavior in the school environment

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level and characteristics of self-regulated learning (SRL) in senior high school students and its differences based on gender. SRL is understood as students' ability to plan, monitor, and evaluate the learning process independently by involving cognitive, metacognitive, motivational, and behavioral aspects. The study used a descriptive quantitative approach with a sample of 640 senior high school students (312 males, 328 females) selected through a proportionate stratified random sampling technique. Data were collected using an SRL questionnaire adapted from Zimmerman and Pintrich, consisting of four main dimensions: goal setting and planning, self-monitoring, motivational control and learning strategies, and reflection and self-evaluation. The instrument was measured using a four-point Likert scale and had a Cronbach's Alpha reliability of 0.87. Data analysis was conducted descriptively and through an Independent Samples t-test using JASP. The results showed that 82% of students were in the moderate SRL category, 15.3% in the low category, and only 1.8% in the high category, with an average SRL score of 77.19 (SD = 6.22). No students were found in the very high or very low categories. The t-test showed a significant difference between male and female students (t = -2.292; p = 0.022), where female students had a higher level of SRL. These findings emphasize the need for pedagogical strategies and guidance services that explicitly develop SRL through learning models oriented towards autonomy, self-reflection, and responsibility for learning

Abstract

The use of marine sediments in Karimun Regency causes socio-economic changes that have a direct impact on the psychological well-being of students in coastal areas. This study aims to formulate the design of collaborative guidance and counseling services as a mitigation strategy for family pressure, income instability, and community social dynamics arising from sediment extraction activities. Qualitative research methods were used to analyze contextual data, empirical literature, and school service needs. The results of the study show that these socio-economic impacts contribute to increased stress, decreased learning motivation, and behavioral vulnerability in students. These findings underscore the need for a collaborative guidance and counseling services model that integrates data mapping, cross-agency partnerships, family and community-based psychosocial interventions, and environmental-social literacy education. The formulated model positions counselor as systemic links between schools, families, and coastal stakeholders, thereby strengthening student resilience and increasing the effectiveness of services in the context of ecological and socioeconomic changes

Abstract

This study examines the level of metacognitive awareness of faculty of education undergraduate student-teachers on the field for teaching practice exercise and also determine the influence of metacognitive awareness on academic competence among undergraduate student-teachers in Southwestern Nigeria. With the increasing recognition of metacognition as a core determinant of student success, this research sought to analyse how well student-teachers regulate and reflect upon their learning processes. A total of 120 student-teachers from four public universities in southwestern Nigeria were selected through a multistage sampling technique. Using validated instruments; the Teacher Competence Assessment Scale (TCAS) and the Metacognitive Awareness Scale (MAS), the study employed descriptive statistics and regression analysis to measure the levels of metacognitive awareness and their predictive capacity on teaching competence. Findings revealed that the majority of student-teachers exhibited moderate levels of metacognitive awareness. However, the regression analysis showed no significant influence of metacognitive awareness on teaching competence. These results have implications for teacher education programs and the integration of metacognitive strategy instruction
