Abstract

This study is motivated by the presence of disruptive behaviors in the learning process, specifically off-task behavior. Off-task behavior refers to disruptive actions performed by students during the learning process, where they are not engaged in the lesson itself. Off-task behavior consists of three aspects: verbal, motoric, and passive. These behaviors occur due to various factors, one of which is behavior formation, a concept discussed within the behaviorism approach. This study explores effective strategies to reduce off-task behavior in classroom learning through the behaviorism approach. The results indicate that methods such as reinforcement, self-control, individual counseling with behavior contracts, sociodrama, self-control, and token economy enhance student engagement and create a productive learning environment. Implementation challenges include limited facilities and curriculum pressure. Collaboration between teachers, counselors, and the school is key to success. Keywords: Off-task behavior, behaviorism.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of cognitive restructuring techniques in reducing self-harm behavior in students. The background of the study is based on the phenomenon of increasing self-harm behavior among adolescents, which is triggered by affective and environmental factors such as emotional stress, social rejection, and negative mindsets. This study used a single subject design method with one student as the subject who had a high self-harm behavior score. The intervention was carried out through individual counseling services with a cognitive restructuring approach for six sessions. The results of the visual analysis showed a significant decrease in self-harm scores from high to low categories. Analysis within conditions and between conditions showed a negative trend, indicating the effectiveness of the intervention. In conclusion, cognitive restructuring techniques are effective in changing students' negative mindsets to be more rational and adaptive, so that they can reduce self-harm behavior. This technique is recommended for use in individual counseling services in schools. Keywords: self-harm behavior, cognitive restructuring

Abstract

This study aims to examine: (1) the implementation of group guidance services using the SEFT (Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique); (2) the career anxiety condition among students at the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FTK), UIN Banten; and (3) the effectiveness of group guidance with SEFT technique in reducing students' career anxiety. The research method employed a quantitative experimental approach using a One-Group Pretest-Posttest design. Seven students were selected as samples through purposive sampling and assigned as members of the group guidance session (experimental group). Data collection involved administering a pretest and posttest using the Student Career Anxiety Scale (SCAS), developed based on Greenberger & Padesky's theory. The data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The results revealed that: (1) group guidance was conducted over five sessions following the stages of group development forming, transition, working, and closing—with each session focusing on one career-related topic; the SEFT technique was implemented at the beginning of the closing stage; (2) career anxiety among FTK UIN Banten students showed a progressive decline in average scores: 62.43 (pretest), 60.57 (after first treatment), 59.43 (after second treatment), 58.29 (after third treatment), 52.57 (after fourth treatment), and 50.43 (after final treatment); and (3) the group guidance service using the SEFT technique was effective in reducing students’ career anxiety, with a statistically significant value of 0.018 (< 0.05). These findings highlight the potential for developing a career guidance model that integrates both spiritual and emotional dimensions.  Keywords: Group Guidance, SEFT Technique, Career Anxiety

Abstract

Ellison’s theory of spiritual well-being emphasizes that an individual’s well-being is not solely dependent on physical and psychological aspects, but also on the spiritual dimension that provides meaning in life and emotional balance. In the context of education, the implementation of spiritual well-being through spiritual guidance and counseling services can serve as an effective strategy to address bullying behavior. Spiritual guidance and counseling not only focus on resolving students’ psychological problems, but also instill transcendental values such as empathy, compassion, and respect for others. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method with a literature review approach to analyze the concept of spiritual guidance and counseling and its relevance in addressing bullying in schools. The findings indicate that the integration of spiritual values in guidance and counseling can foster students’ character development, making them more tolerant, appreciative of diversity, and morally aware. Furthermore, the application of spiritual guidance and counseling based on the principles of religious pluralism enables students to understand universal values that reject all forms of violence. Thus, spiritual guidance and counseling play a significant role not only in enhancing students’ holistic well-being, but also in creating a harmonious school environment free from bullying
