Abstract

This study aimed to improve children's number recognition skills through educational game media using a smart board at Melati Kindergarten, Mungka District. The research was conducted because children's ability to recognize and write numbers was still low, partly due to the limited use of instructional media in the learning process. The method used in this study was Classroom Action Research (CAR), consisting of two cycles: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observation, documentation, tests, and assignments. The results showed a significant improvement at each stage of the research. In the pre-cycle stage, the average ability of children to recognize numbers was still relatively low at 22.2%. After the implementation of the action in Cycle I, the percentage increased to 72.2%, and in Cycle II, it showed a more significant improvement, reaching 89.95%. This improvement was supported by the use of educational game media through a smart board. The method proved effective in enhancing children's number recognition skills. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the use of play activities, visual media, and repetitive practice can improve children's understanding of numbers.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low language skills of children in Group A at SPS Mekar Indah in Bengkulu City. Based on initial observations, 60% of the children were not yet able to name objects and describe their functions using simple sentences in accordance with the STPPA curriculum. This was because instruction still relied predominantly on pictures and lectures, which were not concrete enough for 4- to 5-year-olds with preoperational thinking. The purpose of this study was to enhance children’s language development through the introduction of real objects in their immediate environment. The method used was the Kemmis & McTaggart model of Classroom Action Research, conducted in two cycles. The study subjects consisted of 15 children in Group A. Data collection techniques included observation, documentation, and field notes. The success indicator was set at 80% of the children achieving development in line with expectations. The results showed an improvement in the children’s language skills. In the pre-cycle phase, only 40% of the children met the expected developmental standards. After Cycle I, this figure increased to 66.7%, and in Cycle II, it reached 86.7%. Improvements were observed in vocabulary, confidence in speaking, and the ability to describe objects. The conclusion of this study is that introducing real objects from the surrounding environment can enhance the language development of children in Group A at SPS Mekar Indah in Bengkulu City. It is recommended that teachers make more optimal use of the environment as a concrete medium in language learning.

Abstract

Reading literacy is a foundational skill that plays an essential role in supporting students’ academic development at the elementary school level. However, initial observations in second-grade students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah in Lhokseumawe City indicated that their reading literacy skills were still relatively low. These difficulties were seen in students’ limited fluency in reading, low comprehension of text content, inability to draw simple conclusions, and lack of responsiveness during reading activities. One instructional strategy that can be used to address this issue is the implementation of Big Book media, which presents reading materials in large formats accompanied by attractive illustrations to enhance students’ attention, motivation, and understanding. This study aimed to analyze the effect of Big Book media on students’ reading literacy skills in Indonesian language learning. The research used a quantitative approach with an experimental design involving a control and experimental group. The population consisted of 50 second-grade students of MIS Banda Masen Lhokseumawe, with 25 students assigned to each group. Data were collected using oral tests in the form of pretest and posttest. The data were analyzed using normality and homogeneity tests, followed by hypothesis testing using the Independent Sample t-Test. The results showed an improvement in the experimental class with a posttest mean score of 87.32 compared to the control class with 77.60. The statistical test resulted in a t-value of 4.148 with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that Big Book media had a significant effect on improving students’ reading literacy skills. In conclusion, the use of Big Book media is effective in enhancing students’ reading literacy by increasing reading interest, comprehension, and learning engagement. Abstract

This study conducts a comparative analysis of the epistemological thought of Ibn Sina and Mulla Sadra and examines its implications for the development of Islamic education curricula in the contemporary era, given that the intellectual contributions of both scholars remain highly relevant to ongoing educational discourse. Using a library research method with a qualitative-descriptive approach and comparative analysis of relevant literature, the study finds that Ibn Sina’s epistemology emphasizes the integration of sensory experience, rational reasoning, and intuitive insight, with demonstrative reasoning and intellect serving as the primary tools for attaining truth, whereas Mulla Sadra, through the framework of al-Hikmah al-Muta‘aliyah (Transcendent Philosophy), constructs an epistemological system that unites reason, revelation, intuition, and spiritual experience within an existential and transformative understanding of knowledge. Although both philosophers acknowledge the importance of intellect and metaphysical dimensions, they differ in their conceptualization of knowledge and the relationship between the knower and the known. Their epistemological perspectives collectively offer significant implications for curriculum development that bridges religious and secular sciences, harmonizes rationality and spirituality, and integrates theoretical understanding with practical application and character formation, thereby enabling Islamic education to produce learners who are intellectually competent, ethically grounded, spiritually mature, and capable of navigating modern challenges without losing their Islamic identity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the causes of the failure of the manual derrick system on the SPOB Mahakam vessel, which resulted in the suspension of cargo loading and unloading operations for 14 hours, and to evaluate the maintenance practices applied to cargo-handling equipment on board. The research method used was descriptive qualitative research through direct observation and interviews with ship officers and crew members. The findings indicate that the derrick failure was not only caused by the deterioration of structural conditions due to corrosion and material fatigue, but also by inadequate preventive inspections, insufficient maintenance documentation, and the predominance of reactive maintenance practices. In addition to the derrick, similar issues were identified in other equipment such as cranes, winches, cargo hoses, cargo pipelines, and other supporting cargo-handling components, indicating that the overall maintenance system has not yet been optimized. These findings highlight the need to implement a structured maintenance system based on a Planned Maintenance System (PMS), as well as to strengthen crew competencies in inspection, preventive maintenance, and equipment condition assessment prior to operations. Furthermore, spare-part procurement constraints were identified as a major obstacle to repairs, making it necessary to adopt a more proactive spare-parts logistics strategy through the establishment of minimum stock levels and the availability of critical components on board. With the implementation of a comprehensive PMS, enhanced technical training for crew members, and strong logistical support from the company, the effectiveness and safety of cargo loading and unloading operations can be significantly and sustainably improved.

Abstract

Teachers play a crucial role in designing effective learning to optimally achieve learning objectives. Lesson Implementation Plans (RPPs) and open modules are among the tools used in lesson planning. RPPs serve as guidelines for teachers in systematically organizing learning activities, while open modules contain objectives, materials, methods, and assessments tailored to student needs. Curriculum developments in Indonesia, particularly the implementation of the Independent Curriculum, encourage teachers to be more creative and innovative in developing learning materials. Learning modules are designed to enhance learning materials that are more flexible, contextual, and student-centered. Through open modules, the learning process is expected to enhance critical thinking skills, creativity, collaboration, and student learning independence. However, the implementation of RPPs and open modules still faces various challenges. Some frequently encountered obstacles include teachers' lack of understanding regarding developing learning materials that are appropriate to student characteristics, limited time for planning, and minimal training and mentoring related to open modules. These conditions can impact the quality of classroom learning. Therefore, a thorough understanding of the concepts, functions, and steps involved in developing lesson plans and open modules is essential. With proper lesson planning, teachers can create a more focused and effective learning process that supports the achievement of educational goals in accordance with the applicable curriculum.

Abstract

The learning process is often trapped in rote memorization (surface learning), resulting in low conceptual understanding and weak social interaction among students. The primary issue in this study is the lack of active engagement and the low quality of students' collaborative communication in understanding abstract values in Pancasila Education. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Deep Learning approach and analyze its impact on improving the collaborative communication of fifth-grade students at MI Muhammadiyah Buntu Barana. The method used is descriptive qualitative research. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the implementation of the Deep Learning approach through mindful, meaningful, and joyful learning elements successfully creates a profound learning atmosphere. Students do not merely memorize concepts but are able to connect them with social realities. A significant impact is observed in the improvement of collaborative communication, characterized by better listening skills, courage to express opinions, and increased group responsibility. This study implies that Deep Learning can serve as a strategic solution for educators to build democratic character and social skills in students from an early age through meaningful learning.
