Abstract

This study aimed to determine the condition of sports infrastructure and its relationship with the sports achievements of West Lampung Regency in the Lampung Provincial Sports Week (PORPROV Lampung). This research was motivated by the importance of sports infrastructure in supporting athlete development and improving regional sports achievements. The research used a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques were carried out through field observations, interviews with the management of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) of West Lampung Regency, and documentation related to sports facilities and regional sports achievement data. The collected data were analyzed descriptively to describe the condition of sports infrastructure and its relationship to athlete development and achievements. The results showed that the sports infrastructure in West Lampung Regency consists of a sports stadium and the Aji Saka Sports Hall (GOR), which are used for various sports activities. Several sports facilities were found to be in fairly good condition and could be utilized for athlete training and community sports activities. However, there were still several limitations, such as the athletic track not yet using a synthetic surface, the absence of a permanent throwing area for athletics, limited sports facilities meeting national standards, and uneven distribution of sports facilities. Based on documentation data from KONI West Lampung Regency, during the 2022 Lampung PORPROV, West Lampung Regency obtained a total of 146 medals consisting of 45 gold medals, 32 silver medals, and 69 bronze medals. The analysis results indicated that sports infrastructure has a relationship with the athlete development process and regional sports achievements. The availability of adequate sports facilities can improve training effectiveness and support the enhancement of athlete performance. The conclusion of this study shows that sports infrastructure is one of the important factors in supporting athlete development and regional sports achievements. Therefore, improving the quality, completeness, and distribution of sports infrastructure needs to be carried out continuously to support the improvement of sports achievements in West Lampung Regency in the future.

Abstract

Critical thinking is one of the essential competencies that should be developed in twenty-first-century learning, particularly in Natural and Social Science (IPAS) education. However, elementary school students' critical thinking skills still require significant improvement to meet the demands of the Merdeka Curriculum. This study aimed to analyze the critical thinking skills of fifth-grade students in the IPAS subject on the topic What Is a Food Chain? at MIN 25 Aceh Utara and to identify the factors influencing these skills. This research employed a qualitative approach using a field research design. The research subjects consisted of 32 fifth-grade students, while the informants included two IPAS teachers and six students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation, while data analysis followed the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that students' critical thinking skills were moderately developed but had not reached an optimal level across all of Ennis's critical thinking indicators. Students experienced difficulties in analyzing relationships among living organisms, providing logical reasoning, developing comprehensive explanations, and solving problems systematically. The findings also indicated that critical thinking skills were influenced by several factors, including teaching methods, instructional media, learning motivation, prior knowledge, learning environment, and students' self-confidence. These findings highlight the importance of creating meaningful learning experiences that actively engage students in inquiry, discussion, and problem-solving activities. Therefore, student-centered learning strategies supported by appropriate instructional media and interactive classroom practices should be implemented to improve students' critical thinking skills in IPAS learning and enhance the overall quality of elementary education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of parental parenting support in improving the reading comprehension skills of Phase C elementary school students. The study was motivated by the importance of reading comprehension as a fundamental skill that supports students' academic achievement. A qualitative method with a case study approach was employed. Data were collected through student observations, questionnaires distributed to parents, in-depth interviews, parenting education sessions for parents, and documentation. The observation results indicated that 5 students (30%) were categorized as having good reading comprehension skills, 3 students (5%) were in the moderate category, and 8 students (65%) were in the low category. The interview findings revealed that parental support varied, including warmth and involvement, reasoning through rules and consequences, democratic participation, and positive parent–child interactions. Students raised under an authoritative parenting style tended to demonstrate better reading comprehension skills than those whose parents adopted authoritarian or permissive parenting styles. This study concludes that both emotional and instrumental parental support contributes significantly to the improvement of students' reading comprehension skills. These findings may serve as a reference for teachers, schools, and policymakers in designing family-based literacy programs.

Abstract

Students' low learning interest in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) remains a challenge in elementary education, primarily due to the limited use of interactive learning media. This study aimed to examine the effect of the Wordwall application on the learning interest of fifth-grade students at SDN 2 Nagri Tengah. A quantitative approach with a survey method was employed involving 28 students as the research sample. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed through descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, simple linear regression, hypothesis testing, correlation analysis, and the coefficient of determination. The findings revealed that the use of Wordwall had a positive and significant effect on students' learning interest, as indicated by the regression equation Y = 58.783 + 0.367X. The partial test produced a t-value of 3.441 with a significance level of 0.002, while the simultaneous test yielded an F-value of 11.840 with a significance level of 0.002. The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.313) indicates that Wordwall contributed 31.3% to students' learning interest. Therefore, Wordwall can be considered an effective interactive learning medium for enhancing students' learning interest in IPAS.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the impact of the Discovery Learning model on improving the critical thinking skills of fourth-grade elementary school students in Integrated Science and Social Studies (IPAS). The study was motivated by the low level of students' critical thinking skills caused by teacher-centered learning, which limited students' opportunities to actively analyze, investigate, and solve problems. This research employed a quantitative approach using a Pre-Experimental Design with a One-Group Pretest–Posttest Design. The research participants consisted of fourth-grade students at SDN Giriwangi. Data were collected through critical thinking tests administered before and after the implementation of the Discovery Learning model. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, prerequisite tests, and hypothesis testing to determine the effect of the treatment. The findings indicate that students' critical thinking skills improved after participating in learning activities based on the Discovery Learning model. Students demonstrated better abilities in interpreting information, analyzing problems, evaluating evidence, drawing logical conclusions, and explaining their ideas systematically. The learning process also encouraged students to become more active in observing, discussing, investigating, and constructing knowledge independently. These findings support Bruner's constructivist theory, which emphasizes that meaningful learning occurs when students discover concepts through direct experience. Therefore, the Discovery Learning model can be considered an effective learning alternative for improving elementary school students' critical thinking skills in IPAS learning.
