Abstract

This study aims to determine teacher strategies for increasing student learning engagement in fourth-grade science studies at SD Negeri 39 Palembang. This study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects consisted of a fourth-grade teacher and fourth-grade students. The results showed that teacher strategies for increasing student learning engagement were implemented through the use of cooperative learning models, the use of learning media, and providing motivation and appreciation to students. These strategies were able to increase students' courage in asking questions, answering questions, discussing, and participating during the learning process. Supporting factors in the implementation of teacher strategies were the availability of learning media, student interest in learning, and a supportive school environment. Inhibiting factors included a lack of concentration on the part of some students and differences in student learning abilities. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that teacher strategies play a crucial role in increasing student learning engagement in fourth-grade science studies, thus making the learning process more active and effective. Abstract

This research was motivated by the existence of students who were less active, less focused, and lacked confidence during the learning process, indicating the need for effective teaching skills to improve students’ learning motivation. This study aimed to determine the relationship between teachers’ teaching skills and students’ learning motivation in Indonesian language learning for fourth grade students at SDIT Raudhaturrahmah Pekanbaru. This research used a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. The subjects of this study consisted of one fourth-grade teacher and 23 students of class IV Al-Malik. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and interviews conducted over five meetings. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing using triangulation techniques. The results showed that the teacher had implemented eight basic teaching skills during the learning process, with the most dominant skills being reinforcement, variation, explaining, and classroom management skills. Students’ learning motivation showed fairly good results, with the most dominant indicators being appreciation in learning, interesting learning activities, and a conducive learning atmosphere. The findings also revealed that teachers’ teaching skills had a relationship with students’ learning motivation, indicating that teachers’ teaching skills play an important role in improving students’ learning motivation during the learning process.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low critical thinking skills of class VII A students in the subject of Islamic Religious Education and Character Education at Junior High School 30 Muaro Jambi Regency. The low level of critical thinking skills was indicated by students’ lack of ability to analyze learning materials, express opinions, provide logical reasons for their answers, and solve problems related to the lesson material. Therefore, an appropriate learning method is needed to improve students’ critical thinking skills, one of which is differentiated learning through the Gallery Walk method. This study aims to analyze students’ critical thinking skills in the teaching and learning process of Islamic Religious Education through differentiated learning using the Gallery Walk method for class VII A students at Junior High School 30 Muaro Jambi Regency. This research used a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects consisted of Islamic Religious Education teachers and class VII A students. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study showed that the implementation of differentiated learning using the Gallery Walk method was able to improve students’ critical thinking skills. This could be seen from the increased ability of students to ask questions, provide responses, analyze learning materials, participate in discussions, express logical opinions, and collaborate in groups to complete learning tasks. In addition, differentiated learning helped teachers adjust learning strategies according to students’ characteristics and learning needs, making the learning process more active, interactive, and meaningful. Supporting factors in implementing this method included teacher creativity, student cooperation, and a conducive learning environment, while the inhibiting factors included limited learning time and differences in students’ levels of understanding of the material. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of profitability, leverage, liquidity, and firm size on tax aggressiveness in transportation and logistics companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2016–2023 period. This research uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive method. The data used are secondary data obtained from financial statements and annual reports. The data analysis technique employed is multiple linear regression using SPSS version 27.0. The results show that partially, profitability, leverage, and liquidity have a significant effect on tax aggressiveness, while firm size has no significant effect. Simultaneously, all independent variables significantly influence tax aggressiveness. The Adjusted R Square value of 0.347 indicates that the independent variables explain 34.7% of tax aggressiveness, while the remaining 65.3% is influenced by other variables outside the research mod

Abstract

The focus of this study is “How is the ability of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 20 Kupang in writing news texts?”. The aim of this research is to analyze and describe the students’ ability in writing news texts. The study is grounded in writing theory. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, using a performance-based test in which 27 students of Class VII-A were asked to write a news text. In this research, the material focused on news texts by paying attention to their structure and linguistic features. A news text is a type of text that reports on events or incidents that are currently happening and widely discussed by the public. Based on the analysis of the 27 students in Class VII-A of SMP Negeri 20 Kupang, their ability to write news texts, particularly in terms of structure and linguistic aspects, can be categorized as fairly good. This is supported by the completion rate: 20 students (74.1%) met the expected criteria, while 7 students (25.9%) did not.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze teachers’ understanding of the developmental dimensions and developmental tasks of elementary school students and how this understanding is implemented in the learning process. The problem underlying this study is that learning practices in elementary schools still tend to focus on cognitive achievement, while students’ social, emotional, and moral development has not been optimally integrated into classroom activities. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The research subjects consisted of two elementary school teachers in Purwakarta. Data were collected through observation and semi-structured interviews to obtain in-depth information regarding teachers’ understanding and teaching practices. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that teachers generally have a good understanding of student development as a multidimensional process involving cognitive, social-emotional, and moral aspects. Teachers also recognize differences in students’ characteristics and developmental levels. However, learning practices still predominantly emphasize cognitive aspects, especially basic literacy and numeracy skills. Although teachers have attempted to consider individual differences in teaching, these practices are still intuitive and not fully based on developmental theory. In addition, social and emotional development has not been explicitly integrated into learning activities. Several challenges were identified, including limited time, inadequate facilities, large class sizes, and limited parental support. Therefore, strengthening teachers’ pedagogical competence and collaboration between schools, families, and communities is needed to support holistic student development.

Abstract

This study focuses on examining the implementation of the Project-Based Learning strategy in improving students' critical thinking skills during the learning process. The problem underlying this research is related to the still limited ability of students to analyze critically, which is influenced by the tendency of teacher-centered learning and the lack of student engagement in learning. This study uses a qualitative approach with a library research method. The data sources were obtained through the exploration of various scientific literature, including journals, books, and other academic publications related to project-based learning and the development of critical thinking skills. The analysis was carried out descriptively by emphasizing the interpretation of relevant findings. The results of the study show that the use of Project-Based Learning provides a positive contribution in optimizing student engagement in learning. This strategy also directs students to examine problems more deeply, fosters independence, and enhances their ability to generate ideas. Additionally, students' critical thinking skills develop through activities that require discussion, exploration, and problem-solving related to real-life situations. Therefore, Project-Based Learning can be considered an adaptive and contextual learning approach in efforts to improve the quality of learning while strengthening students' critical thinking abilities.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low development of fine motor skills among children aged 5–6 years at TK Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal Muara Tembesi. The problems identified include children’s difficulties in cutting according to patterns, pasting accurately, writing, and coordinating hand movements. This study aims to determine the effect of rock painting activities on the fine motor skills development of early childhood. The research employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental design with a one group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 19 children in group B. Data were collected using an observation sheet that had been tested for validity. Data analysis techniques included normality test, homogeneity test, and hypothesis testing using paired sample t-test. The results showed a significant effect of rock painting activities on children's fine motor skills, indicated by improvements in hand-eye coordination, finger control, and precision in coloring and drawing activities. In conclusion, rock painting activities are effective as an innovative and enjoyable learning method to improve fine motor skills in early childhood.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using the Educaplay game on the literacy skills of children aged 4–5 years at TK Negeri Pembina 1 Kota Jambi. The background of this research is based on the low level of early literacy skills among children, as shown in initial observations, which indicates the need for more engaging and interactive learning media. This study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a one-group pretest-posttest model. The participants consisted of 12 children aged 4–5 years selected through a saturated sampling technique. The research instruments included pretest and posttest assessments as well as observation sheets consisting of six indicators of literacy skills, such as letter recognition, vocabulary understanding, word formation, and matching images with words. Data analysis techniques included normality testing, the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, and effect size calculation. The results showed that the mean pretest score was 12.58 with a percentage of 69.91%, while the mean posttest score increased to 18.75 with a percentage of 78.13%. The Wilcoxon test results indicated a significance value of 0.002 (< 0.05), meaning there was a statistically significant difference between pretest and posttest results. Furthermore, the effect size value of Cohen’s d = 2.72 indicated a very large effect. These findings demonstrate that the use of the Educaplay game has a significant and strong effect on improving early literacy skills in children aged 4–5 years. The game-based learning approach enhances motivation, engagement, and active participation, making it more effective than conventional learning methods in early childhood education.

Abstract

Research relationships play an important role in the development of science and evidence-based decision making. In scientific studies, the relationship between variables becomes the main foundation for understanding phenomena systematically and logically. This study aims to analyze the role of research relationships in supporting scientific development and decision making in various fields. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach with a library research method through the study of books, journals, and relevant scientific literature. The results of the study indicate that research relationships, both causal, correlational, and descriptive, contribute significantly to building scientific concepts, strengthening theories, and producing accurate information for decision making. In addition, understanding research relationships also supports the preparation of more systematic research methodologies and improves the validity of scientific findings. Therefore, research relationships become an important element in the advancement of science and in determining policies and solutions based on scientific data.
