Abstract

This study aims to describe the inner conflict of Makaji as the main character in the short story Juru Masak by Damhuri Muhammad through Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalytic perspective and to explain the influence of social stratification on the character’s psychological conflict. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The primary data source was the text of the short story Juru Masak, while secondary data were obtained from books, journals, and other relevant scientific references. Data were collected through reading and note-taking techniques, then analyzed using content analysis. The results show that Makaji’s inner conflict arises from the contradiction between the id, which drives the need for recognition and self-esteem, the ego, which adjusts to social reality, and the superego, which controls behavior based on social norms. The conflict is further strengthened by social stratification that places the profession of a cook in a subordinate position, causing psychological pressure, decreased self-esteem, and an identity crisis. Thus, the character’s inner conflict is not only caused by individual personality dynamics, but also by interactions with the surrounding social construction. This study confirms that literary works are able to represent the

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of leadership style on employee productivity in the public service sector, particularly at the village administrative level. The urgency of this research is grounded in the increasing complexity of public service demands, which require higher effectiveness and efficiency in employee performance. This study employs a quantitative approach with an associative research design, involving 30 respondents selected through a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, and simple linear regression analysis. The results indicate that leadership style has a positive and significant effect on employee productivity, with a t-value of 4.209 exceeding the t-table value of 2.048 and a significance level of 0.000 (p < 0.05). These findings suggest that more effective leadership styles contribute directly to increased employee productivity. Theoretically, this study reinforces the transformational leadership framework in the context of public organizations. Practically, it provides strategic implications for improving human resource management at the village level to enhance the quality of public service delivery.

Abstract

Contemporary Islamic education faces a crisis in teacher personality characterized by moral degradation, weak role models, and a materialistic orientation in carrying out the teaching profession. This study aims to analyze the concept of the ideal teacher personality according to Imam Al-Ghazali and its relevance to the challenges of 21st-century Islamic education. Using a qualitative approach with a library research type, the primary data sources of this study are the books Ihya' Ulumuddin, Ayyuha al-Walad, and Bidayat al-Hidayah, while secondary sources are articles from the period 2015-2025. The data analysis technique uses content analysis with a descriptive-interpretive approach. The results of the study indicate that Al-Ghazali's concept of the ideal teacher personality includes three main dimensions: first, the spiritual dimension internalized in the traits of asceticism, sincerity, and piety; second, the moral dimension manifested in exemplary behavior, humility, and compassion; third, the intellectual dimension reflected in mastery of knowledge, scientific honesty, and the harmony between knowledge and deeds. This study found that Al-Ghazali's concept has significant relevance to the four teacher competencies required in contemporary education, but requires contextualization in the aspects of digital literacy, reflective pedagogy, and ongoing professionalism.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the personality structure of the characters in Ahmad Tohari's short story "Mata yang Enak Dipandang" using Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic perspective. The main focus of this study is to identify the dynamics of the id, ego, and superego as reflected in the characters' actions, dialogue, and inner conflicts. The method used is descriptive qualitative with content analysis techniques through a literary psychology approach. The results show that the characters' personality structure is dominated by the id, which is oriented towards fulfilling basic needs, while the ego acts as an adaptive mediator to social reality, and the superego presents as a weak moral control. The inner conflict that arises is a result of the imbalance of these three personality structures and is reinforced by external factors such as poverty and social pressure. These findings emphasize that literary works not only represent individual psychological conditions but also reflect social realities that influence the dynamics of the characters' psyches.

Abstract

The implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum is a significant initiative by the Indonesian government aimed at transforming the education system to be more adaptive, contextual, and student-centered. The success of this policy largely depends on how effectively it is communicated to teachers at the school level. This study aims to explore how the Merdeka Curriculum was introduced at SMPN 5 Talang Kelapa in Banyuasin Regency and to identify factors influencing teachers’ understanding and its implementation in practice. This research employed a qualitative method with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the principal, vice principal for curriculum, and teachers involved in the implementation. Data analysis followed the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the dissemination of the Merdeka Curriculum was carried out through internal meetings, teacher training sessions, and participation in workshops organized by external institutions. Effective communication played a crucial role in enhancing teachers’ understanding and encouraging a shift toward more engaging and student-centered teaching practices. However, several challenges remain, including limited facilities and resources, variations in teachers’ competencies, and technical issues related to digital learning management. This study provides insights into curriculum policy communication at the school level and offers strategic recommendations to improve ongoing implementation.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of professional teachers in teaching Islamic Cultural History (SKI) through the application of storytelling methods to improve the quality of learning in elementary madrasahs. The background of this study is based on low student participation caused by conventional teaching methods that are less innovative and teacher-centered. The approach used is a qualitative approach through a literature review, which includes the analysis of various scientific sources such as journals, books, and relevant previous studies. The results of the analysis indicate that the storytelling method, supported by teacher professionalism, is capable of enhancing learning motivation, conceptual understanding, and student engagement in the learning process. Professional teachers can design and implement creative, interactive, and enjoyable teaching strategies, ensuring that SKI material is presented in a contextual and easily understandable manner. Additionally, the storytelling method plays a role in instilling character values through meaningful narratives. Thus, the integration of teacher professionalism and the storytelling method makes a significant contribution to improving the quality of SKI learning in elementary madrasahs.
