Abstract

Calculus is a branch of mathematics that focuses on the concept of change and the relationships Between continuously evolving quantities. In science and engineering, calculus is understood Not only as a collection of formulas, but as a thinking tool that helps explain various phenomena Quantitatively. The concept of limits is used to understand values approaching a given point, While derivatives help analyze rates of change, such as velocity, acceleration, and growth. Integrals, on the other hand, are used to calculate area, volume, and the accumulation of a Quantity over a given interval. In science, calculus plays a crucial role in physics, explaining The motion of objects, the law of gravity, and energy transformations. In chemistry and biology, Calculus helps analyze reaction rates and population growth. Meanwhile, in engineering, Calculus is used in the design of building structures, material strength calculations, electrical Circuit analysis, and the development of modern technologies such as control systems and Computer modeling. Without calculus, many technical calculations would be difficult to Perform accurately. Furthermore, learning calculus also trains logical, systematic, and Analytical thinking skills. Students not only learn to solve problems but also understand the Processes and cause-and-effect relationships within a system. Therefore, calculus is a crucial Foundation for the development of science and technological innovation, which continues to Evolve in the modern era.

Abstract

This study aims to develop quartet card learning media to facilitate Civic Education learning for fifth grade students at SDN 182 Pekanbaru. The background of this study stems from the minimal use of media and the dominance of lecture methods, which result in students being less active and learning becoming less interesting. The research used the Research & Development method with a 4D model that included the define, design, develop, and disseminate stages. In the define stage, an analysis of the curriculum, student characteristics, material, and learning needs was conducted. The design stage produced a quartet card design based on cultural diversity from 38 provinces. In the develop stage, validation was carried out by media experts, material experts, and language experts with an average feasibility of 89% (highly valid), as well as practicality tests with students and teachers, which each scored 86-91% (highly practical). Small group and limited group trials showed that this media was interesting, easy to use, and able to increase student engagement. In the dissemination stage, the product was submitted to schools as a ready-to-use learning medium. The results of the study indicate that the quartet cards are feasible and practical for use in civic education and have the potential to increase student motivation and understanding.

Abstract

The integration of computational thinking (CT) into classroom instruction has become increasingly important in 21st-century education due to its role in fostering logical reasoning, systematic thinking, and problem-solving skills among learners. However, implementing CT at the elementary school level requires instructional approaches that are developmentally appropriate and accessible to young learners through concrete learning experiences. This study aimed to examine the development of elementary students’ CT skills through science learning media based on unplugged coding in the topic of Harmony in Ecosystems. A quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design was employed involving 24 fifth-grade students at SDN 37 Pekanbaru. The intervention was carried out using a student worksheet integrating unplugged coding activities, including coordinates, conditionals, debugging, and classification within a science learning context. Data were collected through an objective test developed based on CT indicators and analyzed using descriptive statistics and N-Gain analysis. The findings revealed an improvement in students’ CT skills, indicated by an increase in the mean score from 6.88 to 8.75, with an N-Gain score of 0.60 categorized as moderate. These findings suggest that integrating unplugged coding activities into science instruction provides contextual learning experiences, encourages active student engagement, and supports the development of more structured thinking patterns in understanding scientific concepts.

Abstract

Learning difficulties in mathematics are a common problem experienced by elementary school students, particularly in whole number operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. These difficulties can hinder students’ conceptual understanding and their ability to solve both direct and word problems. This study aims to describe the forms of students’ difficulties and the factors causing these difficulties in solving whole number operation problems among third-grade students at SD Negeri 2 Pagar Air, Aceh Besar Regency. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. The subjects of this study were 16 third-grade students. Data collection techniques included tests, questionnaires, and interviews. The data analysis technique used the Miles and Huberman model, which consists of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the overall difficulty level of students in solving whole number operation problems was categorized as very high. Specifically, the highest difficulties were found in problem-solving skills (91.87%), arithmetic skills (90.46%), and conceptual understanding (82.5%). The factors causing these difficulties consisted of internal and external factors, with the most dominant factors being school learning facilities, peer influence, and teaching approaches. Thus, it can be concluded that students’ difficulties in solving whole number operation problems are still very high and are more dominantly influenced by external factors.

Abstract

The weak grasp of Pancasila Education by students and the poor and tedious use of information technology as a medium of instruction by instructors prompted this investigation. The objective of this research was to find out how fourth graders at SDN 9 Pangkalanbaru interpreted the social application of rights and responsibilities after seeing animated video content. A One Group Pretest-Posttest Design was used in this quantitative study as a pre-experimental (non-design) strategy. We employed saturation sampling as our sample strategy. This research used a sample size of 22 fourth graders. Students' knowledge was assessed using pre- and post-treatment assessments in the data gathering process. The data was analyzed using a paired sample t-test and the Shapiro-Wilk normality test. The findings demonstrated that the therapy using animated video media improved the pupils' comprehension. After the exam, the average score increased to 76.82 from 55.34 on the pretest. The sig value (2-tailed) was 0.000, which is less than \0.05, according to the Paired Sample t-Test findings. As a result, we may conclude that Ha is true and Ho is false, suggesting that the use of animated video media influences fourth graders' comprehension of the community's rights and responsibilities at SDN 9 Pangkalanbaru.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the phenomenon of students who often show undisciplined behavior in the learning process, such as rushing to complete assignments due to peer influence, lack of focus, and leaving tasks unfinished. This phenomenon indicates problems in students' academic attitudes that have not been optimal. This study aims to analyze the strategies of Islamic Religious Education teachers in forming the academic responsibility of first-grade students at SDIT Ar Rahman Petukangan, South Jakarta. This study uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects consisted of Islamic Religious Education teachers as the main informants, as well as first-grade students and the principal as supporting informants. Data analysis was carried out in three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data was strengthened by triangulation techniques. The results showed that: 1) Islamic Religious Education teachers apply various strategies in forming students' academic responsibility, including group formation and point systems, habituation of discipline and responsibility, teacher exemplary, and integration of Islamic values in every learning process; 2) The results of these strategies can be seen from the increased focus of students in learning, seriousness in completing assignments, and compliance with class rules, although these impacts have not been evenly distributed among all students; 3) Obstacles faced include the characteristics of lower-grade students who are still easily influenced by peers, lack of patience, and the influence of the family environment. The solutions implemented are individual approaches, continuous reinforcement, and establishing collaboration with homeroom teachers and parents.
