Abstract

This study aimed to improve students’ arithmetic operation skills through the use of Islamic illustrated storybooks in mathematics learning for second-grade elementary school students. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the spiral model of Kemmis and McTaggart, which consisted of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects of the study were 24 second-grade elementary school students. The research was conducted in two cycles. Data collection techniques included observation, learning outcome tests, interviews, and documentation. The research data were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative descriptive techniques. The results showed that the use of Islamic illustrated storybooks was able to improve students’ arithmetic operation skills in mathematics learning. The improvement could be seen from the gradual increase in students’ learning mastery percentage in each cycle. In the pre-cycle stage, the percentage of students’ learning mastery was 33%. After the implementation of Islamic illustrated storybooks in Cycle I, the learning mastery percentage increased to 67%. Furthermore, in Cycle II, the learning mastery percentage increased again to 87%. In addition, students’ learning activities also improved because students became more active, enthusiastic, and interested in participating in learning through illustrated storybook media integrated with Islamic values. Thus, the use of Islamic illustrated storybooks proved to be effective in improving arithmetic operation skills of second-grade elementary school students while creating a meaningful and enjoyable learning atmosphere.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the determination of learning interest on the manifestation of student enthusiasm in English language learning among third-grade students at SD Negeri Cikaret. The research is driven by a behavioral paradox where male students exhibit high cognitive proficiency despite expressing negative interest, while female students show positive interest but struggle with processing speed. This study employed a quantitative-correlational approach with 32 students (19 males and 13 females) as subjects. Data were collected through learning interest questionnaires and enthusiasm manifestation observation sheets, then analyzed using simple linear regression via SPSS. The results showed an R-Square (R2) value of 0.456, meaning that learning interest determines 45.6% of students' enthusiasm manifestation. The findings reveal gender-based differences: male students exhibit "competitive-speed enthusiasm" that ignores accuracy, while female students show "process-based enthusiasm" hindered by cognitive anxiety. The study concludes that interest is a primary predictor of engagement, necessitating adaptive Cooperative Learning strategies to address gender dynamics in primary education.

Abstract

Student participation in English learning at the junior high school level remains a complex issue because students are required to process vocabulary, sentence structures, meanings, class instructions, and verbal responses within a limited time. Low participation is often understood as shyness or passivity, whereas this condition can also be related to cognitive processes, such as limited working memory, prior knowledge, self-efficacy, and instructional support. This study aims to analyze the participation of seventh-grade students in English language learning from a cognitive perspective, focusing on cognitive load, activation of prior schemas, self-efficacy, learning support, scaffolding, and media use. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research subjects consisted of English teachers and seventh-grade junior high school students. Data were collected thru classroom observations, field notes, limited interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis by identifying, coding, grouping, and interpreting themes based on the cognitive framework. The research results show that student participation is divided into three patterns: active, reactive, and passive participation. Students who appear silent do not always indicate a lack of interest in learning, but are related to cognitive load, limited vocabulary, underdeveloped initial schemas, varied self-efficacy, and the need for thinking time before responding. These findings indicate that English language learning needs to be designed clearly, gradually, contextually, and supportively to align with students' cognitive capacities and encourage better participation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the policy of the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum in responding to transformation and adaptation demands in the era of disruption. Technological advancements, globalization, and rapid social changes require the education system, particularly PAI, to innovate in order to remain relevant and to develop students’ character with noble morals while also being adaptive to contemporary developments. The research method employed is a qualitative approach through a literature review of various existing educational policies and curricula. The findings indicate that the transformation of the PAI curriculum emphasizes the integration of Islamic values with 21st-century competencies, such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and digital literacy. In addition, curriculum adaptation is carried out through strengthening contextual learning, utilizing digital technology, and applying a religious moderation approach. Therefore, PAI curriculum policy in the era of disruption is not only oriented toward cognitive aspects but also toward character building and the ability to face change.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the Walisongo's method of managing Islamic propagation in Java. The issues raised in this study are rooted in the Walisongo's success in spreading Islamic teachings with a peaceful, adaptable approach, and attention to local culture in a Javanese society still steeped in Hindu-Buddhist traditions. The method used in this study is a qualitative literature study approach, involving the discussion of various books, scientific journals, and historical sources related to Islamic propagation management and the role of the Walisongo. The findings of this study indicate that the Walisongo's Islamic propagation management was carried out through planning, organizing, implementing, and monitoring functions that are interconnected with the socio-cultural values of Javanese society. The Islamic propagation strategies they implemented included cultural approaches, education, art, tradition, and social role models, so that Islam could be accepted harmoniously without triggering conflict. Furthermore, the Walisongo's Islamic propagation management model is still relevant to current Islamic propagation developments, especially in creating humanistic, tolerant, and contextual communication in a multicultural society. Thus, the Walisongo's perspective on Islamic missionary management can serve as an effective example for the peaceful and sustainable dissemination of Islamic values within society. Abstract

Teachers play a crucial role in improving the quality of learning, particularly in motivating students to learn. This study aims to describe the role of teachers in motivating 10th-grade students in sociology classes at State High School 7, Tangerang Regency. This study was motivated by the low level of student enthusiasm in sociology classes, indicating the need to optimize the role of teachers in motivating student learning. This study employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive method, with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation, as well as data analysis conducted through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the role of teachers in motivating 10th-grade students’ learning is carried out through the provision of stimuli in the form of apersepsi, the use of engaging teaching methods by sociology teachers, communicative interaction, and the provision of verbal motivation. However, there are several obstacles faced by teachers, such as a lack of school facilities for the learning process and students who still require motivation to participate in sociology lessons. To address these issues, teachers strive to create a pleasant learning atmosphere and build closer interactions with students so that the learning motivation provided by teachers can be conveyed optimally.

Abstract

Learning planning is the primary foundation for quality educational processes. Competent teachers are required to design measurable learning objectives and indicators, develop innovative teaching materials, and implement comprehensive assessments. This study aims to develop an integrated learning planning model that integrates objectives/indicators, teaching tools, and assessment as a unified teacher competency framework within the Independent Curriculum (Kurikulum Merdeka) context. The method used is Research and Development (RnD) with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) through literature study, needs analysis, product development, expert validation, and field testing. The results show that: (1) teachers' ability to formulate learning objectives aligned with Learning Achievement (CP) still requires strengthening; (2) development of innovative teaching modules has been proven to improve the quality of the learning process; and (3) integrated implementation of diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments significantly contributes to improving student learning outcomes. The developed model obtained 87.5% validity from experts and 82.3% effectiveness in field tests. The conclusion affirms that learning planning encompassing objectives/indicators, teaching materials, and assessment constitutes inseparable pillars of teachers' pedagogical competence in achieving meaningful learning.
