Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of educational game tools (APE) Dasuka (syllable dice) on the early reading ability of children aged 5-6 years in Markus Kindergarten. This study is motivated by the fact that there are still children aged 5-6 years who have difficulty in recognizing letter sounds, reading syllables, and reading simple words. In addition, the lack of use of interesting learning media and in accordance with the characteristics of early childhood needed to support the development of early reading skills. This study uses a quantitative approach with a Pre-Experimental research type and a One Group Pre-test Post-test design. The population in this study was 27 children aged 5-6 years in Markus Kindergarten, with a sample of 9 children selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through observation and analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, and the N-Gain Test. The results of the study showed that the average child's early reading ability increased from 20.44 in the pre-test to 34.33 in the post-test Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test results. The Rank Test obtained an Asymp, Sig (2-tailed) value of 0.008 < 0.05, so there is a significant difference between children's initial reading ability before and after treatment. The N-Gain test results show an average value of 0.7646 which is included in the high category. Thus, it can be concluded that the APE Dasuka (syllabic dice) has a significant effect on the initial reading ability of children aged 5-6 years at Markus Kindergarten

Abstract

This study aims to conceptually analyze the management of Islamic religious educational institutions in implementing character education policies based on Islamic values through a library research method. The study focuses on synthesizing various scientific literature regarding the application of four management functions: planning, organizing, implementing, and supervising, to support the effective implementation of character education policies. The results indicate that the success of Islamic religious educational institution management is determined by the institution's ability to integrate Islamic values into institutional governance, curriculum development, student development, and the creation of a conducive academic culture. Synergy between institutional leaders, educators, education staff, and students is a crucial factor in creating an educational environment that supports Islamic character formation. Furthermore, an educational and ongoing monitoring system plays a role in maintaining consistent policy implementation. This study provides a theoretical contribution in the form of a conceptual model for Islamic religious educational institution management oriented towards strengthening institutional governance and character formation that is adaptive to the challenges of the digital era.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This article examines the ideas of two prominent scholars in stylistics from different intellectual traditions: Charles Bally, representing the European linguistic tradition, and Amin Al-Khuly, representing the tradition of Arabic literary criticism. Using a comparative-analytical approach, this study explores the core concepts developed by each scholar, including Bally’s concept of affective value and Al-Khuly’s principle of manhaj al-adabi (literary method). The findings indicate that despite their different intellectual backgrounds and contexts, both scholars share significant epistemological commonalities, particularly in their emphasis on the relationship between language, expression, and culture. This study contributes to the development of comparative stylistics in the Indonesian academic context while fostering scholarly dialogue between Western and Arabic stylistic traditions in contemporary language and literary studies. Abstract

The pedagogical competencies of Arabic language teachers are a crucial factor in the success of learning, particularly in Islamic boarding schools that implement a 24-hour language immersion system (bi’ah lughawiyyah). This study aims to describe the pedagogical competencies of Arabic language teachers and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors at the Al Ikhwan Islamic Boarding School in Muaro Jambi. The study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of three Arabic language teachers selected via purposive sampling. Data validity was ensured through triangulation of sources and techniques, while data analysis followed an interactive model. The results indicate that teachers’ pedagogical competencies generally fall into the adequate to good category, though they are not yet optimal. Understanding of students’ characteristics is fairly good, but the implementation of differentiated instruction remains limited. Instructional planning is beginning to align with the Merdeka Curriculum; implementation is dominated by lecture-based methods with minimal use of digital media; and assessment remains focused on cognitive aspects. The main supporting factors are the bi’ah lughawiyyah program and student motivation, while inhibiting factors include time constraints, a lack of pedagogical training, insufficient facilities, and the absence of academic supervision. This study recommends strengthening the teacher mentoring system and developing a pedagogical competency model that is contextual to Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

Teacher performance appraisal (TPA) for Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in Indonesia has traditionally relied on classical supervision techniques—classroom visits, direct observation, and post-observation conferences—while post-pandemic digital transformation has pushed supervisors and school principals to combine these with technology-based instruments such as e-supervision, learning management systems, and online TPA applications. This study aims to analyze and compare, through a literature-based conceptual framework, how the two supervision techniques are implemented in PAI teacher performance appraisal. This is a qualitative study using a library research (literature review) approach, synthesizing findings from national and international journal articles, books, and education policy documents published mainly between 2013 and 2025. The analysis suggests that classical supervision excels in relational depth and in assessing PAI teachers' affective-spiritual dimensions but is constrained by time limitations, evaluator subjectivity, and narrow reach; conversely, technology-based supervision offers time efficiency, standardized documentation, and longitudinal data trails, yet is vulnerable to digital literacy gaps and risks reducing the qualitative, contextual nature of PAI teachers' exemplary conduct. This study's main contribution is a conceptual hybrid supervision model that positions technology as a documentation and continuous-monitoring instrument, while classical supervision remains the dialogical space for assessing personal and socio-religious competencies. As a literature-based study, the proposed model still requires empirical testing through field research before it can be adopted as operational policy.

Abstract

Religious intolerance is a serious threat to social cohesion in Indonesia's multicultural society. The destruction of the Gereja Kristen Setia Indonesia (GKSI) prayer house in Padang City in 2024 is a real manifestation of the weakening of ukhuwah values in social life. This study aims to analyze the phenomenon of the crisis of ukhuwah values, examine the chronology and causal factors of the conflict, and interpret the case through the perspective of the Qur'anic paradigm. The method used is descriptive qualitative research with a case study approach, supported by questionnaire data distributed to 35 respondents from young academics. Primary data were collected through surveys, while secondary data came from mass media coverage and literature review. The analysis results show that the conflict was triggered by low religious tolerance, group fanaticism, lack of community dialogue, and the spread of provocative information through social media. As many as 91.4% of respondents confirmed that the destruction of a place of worship contradicts ukhuwah values, and 97.1% rejected violence as a response to differences in belief. A total of 97.2% believe Islam teaches mutual respect among religious communities, and 94.3% believe the Qur'anic paradigm promotes peace. In the perspective of the Qur'anic paradigm, these intolerant actions contradict the teachings of QS. Al-Hujurat verse 13 and QS. Al-Mumtahanah verse 8. This research recommends strengthening tolerance education, religious moderation, interfaith dialogue, digital literacy, and law enforcement as a comprehensive strategy for preventing religion-based conflicts.

Abstract

Social media today is not only a means of communication but also a space for displaying personal activities, including acts of charity (sadaqah). The phenomenon of “flexing” in charity has emerged as a form of expression that may have two sides: it can serve as inspiration, but it can also lead to acts of showing off (riya). This study aims to analyze this phenomenon from the perspective of Qur’anic values. The method used is a mixed method approach, combining literature review and questionnaire distribution among adolescent social media users. The results show that most respondents consider charity-related content to be inspiring; however, it also has the potential to lead to riya if it is performed to gain social recognition. Therefore, awareness is needed in maintaining sincere intentions and ethical behavior in social media use so that Qur’anic values are preserved.

Abstract

The development of digital technology and social media has significantly transformed the practice of Islamic da'wah in Indonesia. This study examines the phenomenon of Mama Gufron (Ghufron Al-Bantani), a preacher who went viral in 2024 due to controversial claims such as communicating with angels via video call and speaking the 'language of ants.' Using a qualitative descriptive approach, this research analyzes how digital culture and popular culture influence the spread of religious messages and the shift in religious authority in the digital era. The findings show that the virality of Mama Gufron's phenomenon was driven by the unique and sensational nature of the content, the role of social media algorithms, meme culture, and public debate. This phenomenon reflects the challenges of maintaining the authenticity and depth of Islamic teachings amidst the rapid flow of digital popular culture. The study concludes that improving digital and religious literacy is essential for the public to critically filter religious information circulating on social media.
