Abstract

Learning media play a crucial role in the educational process. The use of less engaging instructional media often leads to low student interest in learning, which consequently results in unsatisfactory learning outcomes. However, technology-based learning media remain underutilized, one example being the game-based platform Kahoot. This study aimed to investigate the effect of the Kahoot game-based learning media on students' interest, motivation, and learning outcomes in Indonesian Language, particularly in descriptive text instruction. The study employed an experimental method with a quantitative approach to measure students' levels of interest, motivation, and learning outcomes, as well as to compare these variables between the control and experimental groups. The results of the independent samples t-test revealed a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05) and a mean difference of 15.22 points between the experimental and control groups. The mean learning motivation score of students in the experimental group was significantly higher (M = 92.08) than that of the control group (M = 71.22), with a t-value of -21.94 and p < .001. Similarly, the average learning outcome score in the experimental group (M = 93.24) was substantially higher than that in the control group (M = 30.41), with a mean difference of 62.84 points. The significance value of the t-test (0.000) indicates that this difference was statistically significant. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of Kahoot game-based learning media has a significant positive effect on students' learning interest, motivation, and academic achievement.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning interest of fourth-grade students in the Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) subject, which was caused by a learning process that did not actively engage students. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on the learning interest of fourth-grade students in the IPAS subject at SDN 182 Pekanbaru. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population consisted of all fourth-grade students at SDN 182 Pekanbaru, while the sample included an experimental class and a control class selected through purposive sampling. The research instrument was a learning interest questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using normality and homogeneity tests, followed by hypothesis testing through the Independent Samples t-test. The findings revealed that the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model had a significant effect on students' learning interest in the IPAS subject. Students who participated in learning through the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model demonstrated higher learning interest than those who received conventional instruction. Therefore, the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model can be considered an effective alternative instructional model to enhance students' learning interest in IPAS learning at the elementary school level.

Abstract

The success of the learning process in the modern era highly depends on the selection of appropriate and adaptive learning models tailored to students' needs. This study aims to analyze the comparative effectiveness of various innovative learning models, including Problem-Based Learning (PBL), Discovery Learning, cooperative learning (Jigsaw), and Blended Learning, as well as to identify optimization strategies within dynamic classroom environments. The methodology employed is a literature review, analyzing multiple research findings and metaanalyses related to the implementation of these learning models. The results indicate that no single learning model is superior in all situations. PBL is proven effective in enhancing critical thinking skills, whereas Discovery Learning excels in independent conceptual understanding. The Jigsaw model effectively improves collaboration, and Blended Learning offers access flexibility in the digital era. The synchronization of these models with strategies such as differentiated instruction, technology-based media utilization, conducive classroom management, and constructive feedback serves as the primary key to optimizing learning outcomes, triggering intrinsic motivation, and fostering students' active engagement.

Abstract

This study reviews the molecular mechanisms of probiotics in maintaining intestinal barrier function and regulating inflammation through a Systematic Literature Review of 21 selected articles from the Scopus database (2023–2026). The findings show that probiotics strengthen intestinal barrier integrity by modulating the TLR–NF-κB–MAPK pathway, increasing tight junction protein expression, regulating mitochondrial apoptosis, and influencing SCFA metabolism, bile acids, and the Akt/mTOR pathway. Evidence from in vitro, in vivo, and multi-omics studies supports the protective role of probiotics against intestinal inflammation. Overall, probiotics demonstrate strong potential as microbiome-based therapeutic agents, although further clinical validation is still required.

Abstract

Improving the quality of education is highly dependent on the quality of teachers as the main actors in the learning process. In the Indonesian context, in-service teacher development policies have largely relied on certification as an instrument for professional recognition and the improvement of teachers’ welfare. However, developments in educational policy indicate that certification alone is insufficient if it is not followed by systematic, continuous, and needs-based professional development for teachers in schools. A gap in the literature remains evident in the limited analysis that positions certification, In-Service Teacher Professional Education, learning communities, academic supervision, and continuous professional development as an interconnected policy ecosystem. This article argues that in-service teacher development policies need to be reoriented from an administrative paradigm toward a substantive paradigm that emphasizes competency improvement, reflective teaching practices, mentoring, and impact-based evaluation. Using a literature review and an educational policy analysis approach, this study finds that certification remains important as an entry point for teacher professionalization, but it should not become the ultimate goal of teacher development. The implications of this study highlight the need to strengthen post-certification development policies through needs-based training, continuous supervision, learning communities, and evaluation systems that assess real changes in teaching practices.

Abstract

This study investigated the effectiveness of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) supported by Storybird in improving the narrative writing skills of tenth-grade Animation students at SMKN 1 Dlanggu. A pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design was employed involving 33 students. Data were collected through narrative writing tests assessed using an analytic rubric covering content, organization, grammar, vocabulary, and mechanics. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, paired-samples t-test, and repeated measures ANOVA. The findings revealed a significant improvement in students’ narrative writing performance after the implementation of PjBL supported by Storybird (t(32) = 15.448, p < .001). Among the assessed aspects, content showed the greatest improvement, while grammar demonstrated the smallest gain. The integration of project-based activities with digital storytelling encouraged collaboration, creativity, and more meaningful learning aligned with vocational animation competencies. These findings indicate that Storybird-supported PjBL is an effective instructional approach for enhancing narrative writing skills in vocational English classrooms.
