Abstract

Self-compassion is defined as a form of accepting oneself in one's condition, and it also includes incidents of failure, difficulties, or bad things experienced by individuals. To participants, self-compassion is a duty for high school-age individuals to develop in aspects of personal development, including measuring one's size in an organisation and providing guidance and counselling in schools. The purpose of the study. This is a known description of self-compassion participants studied at State Senior High School 2, Subang. The methods used are quantitative with a descriptive statistical approach. Data was collected using the Self-Compassion scale for 401 participants in the education class X at Senior High School 2 Subang. The study results conclude that as many as 55 participants educated their self-compassion in category low, 274 participants educated their self-compassion in category moderate, and 72 participants educated their self-compassion in category high.

Abstract

Subjective well-being is one of the variables that can describe how an individual's level of life satisfaction. Individuals who have a high level of subjective well-being tend to feel happy and satisfied with their lives. This study aims to analyze the subjective well-being profile of college students. The profile of well-being will be seen based on gender, age, and level. This research is a quantitative research with survey research type. Data were collected from 202 college students from various study programs and levels that were determined using accidental random sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using quantitative descriptive statistics. The results showed an overview of the subjective well- being profile of college students in terms of gender, age, and level. This research can be used as preliminary research for further research on the subjective well-being of college students.

Abstract

The concept of a well-lived life among individuals in early adulthood mainly focus on how they navigate life transitions and achieve personal success. Utilizing a phenomenological approach, semi-structured interview was used with twelve Filipino young adults aged 25 to 35 years old. Thematic analysis revealed four major themes: Empowered Purpose, highlighting resilience and coping strategies; Building Bonds, emphasizing the importance of relationships and support; Art of Balance, addressing work-life harmony; and Behind the Persona, which explores the challenges and uncertainties faced by young adults. Findings suggest that a well-lived life is intricately tied to personal values, social connections, and the ability to adapt to life's complexities. The study contributes to understanding how young adults perceive fulfillment and success amid contemporary societal pressures, offering insights for practices in education, mental health, and social policy. The LIFE self-help plan is devised to help young adults engage in mindfulness and self-compassion practices in realizing a healthy concept of a well-lived life.

Abstract

Social loafing is the tendency of individuals to reduce their contribution when they are in a group. This phenomenon reflects maladaptive personal characteristics, which ideally should not be exhibited by Guidance and Counseling students at a university in Malang City. This study aims to explore views, actions, and causal factors of social loafing from the perspective of personality development based on Gestalt counseling theory. The research method used a qualitative phenomenological approach and Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis. The results of the study show that social loafing is a reflection of maladaptive personality in Gestalt counseling theory. This is indicated by views related to an incomplete awareness of roles when working in a group. In addition, there is also evidence of behavior that is less motivated and responsible as part of a group. The causes of the social loafing phenomenon identified are a rigid self-image and failure to maintain values due to environmental influences. This research contributes to guidance and counseling, particularly in higher education, with considerations for implementing both preventive and corrective services related to social loafing. Furthermore, it can also serve as a reference for the education sector to provide a group work environment that reduces social loafing among members.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop and validate the instrument flourishing adolescence scale (I-FAS) as a comprehensive tool to measure adolescent flourishing, particularly for use in guidance and counseling contexts. The instrument was developed based on five key dimensions: psychological, social, subjective, emotional, and spiritual well-being. The development process included theoretical framework analysis, item construction, expert validation , and a pilot test to assess clarity and readability. Revisions were made before large-scale testing. A quantitative approach was used to evaluate the psychometric properties of the instrument through the Rasch Model. Data were collected via an online survey from 400 junior and senior high school students in Yogyakarta. The results showed that the I-FAS met the unidimensionality criteria, with a raw variance explained of 31.4%, exceeding the 20% threshold. The instrument also demonstrated strong internal consistency (Cronbach's Alpha = 0.92), high person reliability (0.90), and item reliability (0.99). The item difficulty range was acceptable, with the most difficult item having a measure of +1.89 and the easiest –1.76. Five items were identified as misfitting and considered for revision. These findings support that the I-FAS is a valid, reliable, and culturally relevant instrument for measuring adolescent flourishing. The inclusion of spiritual well-being provides added value in cultural contexts where spirituality plays a key role. The I-FAS can assist counselors and educators in identifying student needs and designing targeted interventions to support their well-being and development

Abstract

In face developments of the era that are changing so quickly, counselor creativity be one of the important indicator that needs to be developed in implementation counseling service. This counselor's creativity can encourage achievement counseling service goals that was meaningful and has a significant impact on changes in counselee behavior. The aim of this article is to describe the opportunities of integration solution-focused brief counseling with the creative arts. This article is study literature with a structured and systematic meta-analysis from ideas development and research of solution-focused brief counseling with the creative arts. This article is an analysis of 46 articles published between 2007 and 2022 . In addition, there are 5 scientific articles directly related to the combination of brief counseling focus solution with creative arts. The results of an analysis of these articles found that integration of solution-focused brief counseling with the creative arts is a counseling innovation by integrating principles in creative counseling that seeks to help students realize their abilities and potential so that they can come up with solutions to the problems they have. Integration of the creative arts in solution-focused brief counseling is important to do to increase the effectiveness of the counseling services provided. Creative art that can support the effectiveness of solution-focused brief counseling are drawings, puppets, metaphors, and sand trays. The findings of this study provide recommendations for further research to identify the effectiveness of solution-focused brief counseling with other creative arts empirically in overcoming certain problems in counselees.

Abstract

With the most bullying cases, Indonesia takes the top spot. With 84% of the vote, Indonesia holds the top spot. More than Vietnam and Nepal combined, this figure is higher. Pakistan came in third with 43%, and Cambodia came in second with 73%. According to KPAI data, there would be 226 instances of bullying in addition to physical and psychological abuse in 2022. In this are figures. is quite big, and all the parties concerned need to pay attention to it. As a result of bullying, victims often have low self-confidence, according to some research findings. Several studies have found that adolescents frequently struggle with self-confidence issues. How about making one of those initiatives to help victims of prejudiced bullying deal with their lack of confidence? is to create methods for self-reflection via movie therapy. The finest alternative to traditional therapy is film therapy.

Abstract

Counseling is a helping profession.  It is an essential part of the response to COVID-19 crisis ravaging the entire globe.  The COVID-19 pandemic poses a major threat to the entire world’s economy and health.  The virus garnered heightened attention from the media.  Individuals may have difficulty delineating between misinformation and authentic information about the disease.  Many individuals and the general public are fearful (or may become fearful) of contracting the novel virus. The psychological reactions to the Covid-19 pandemic in terms of mental health may include stress, anxiety, depression, fear, uncertainty, panic behavior, the feeling of hopelessness, depression, and suicidal behavior.  Counselling is one of the most needed services at this period when the pandemic is ravaging the entire globe.   This paper, therefore, highlighted various counseling approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy and reframing, solution-focused therapy, meditation and mindfulness, and building emotional resilience for mitigating the psychological reactions to the COVID-19 pandemic. Relevant suggestions were made to further mitigate the psychological reactions of individuals.

Abstract

The study investigated the efficacy of Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy in managing marital adjustment among Christian Baptist spouses in Benin City Edo State. Two research questions were raised to guide this study and two corresponding hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The study adopted the true experimental research design, using a non-equivalent pre-test and post-test control group. The target population of the study consisted of all the 3290 Baptist spouses in Benin City. A sample size of 61 spouses participated in the study. A multistage sampling method was used in selecting the samples for this study. A dyadic Adjustment Scale was administered to the spouses. The data collected were analyzed using paired t-tests and independent sample statistics. The findings of the study revealed that   EFCT was effective in managing the marital adjustment of spouses. The study also found that there was a significant difference in the marital adjustment of spouses exposed to EFCT and control at the post-test.  Based on the findings, it was recommended that counselling psychologists should take advantage of the proven efficacy of Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy in helping spouses to improve the quality of their marital relationship.

Abstract

Interpersonal communication skills is communication that is carried out between two or more people, both verbal and nonverbal to students. In fact, at school there are still many students who have less interpersonal communication skills in interactions such as frequent misunderstandings in communicating at school. Seeing this phenomenon, efforts are needed to improve students' interpersonal communication skills. The purpose of this study is to increase students' self-confidence and to determine the effectiveness of role playing with a behavioristic approach to students' interpersonal communication skills. The method used in this research is quasi-experimental research with Nonequivalent Control Groups Design. The results show that t count = 8.616 > t table = 1.999. So, the conclusion Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, which means the use of role playing with a behavioristic approach can improve students' interpersonal communication skills.
