This journal publishes articles on community service and empowerment results that are problem-solving, comprehensive, meaningful, and sustainable, with clear goals. Various community service and empowerment activities must have novelty (have innovation and creativity), so that they do not just replicate the same activities in different places, have measurable results and impacts on society, and support the achievement of the goals set forth in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). SDGs are a global action plan agreed by world leaders, to end poverty, reduce inequality and protect the environment. The SDGs contain 17 Goals and 169 Targets, so that each article must be linked to these goals and targets (as stated in the contribution statement).

Abstract

The use of liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) from garlic and onion skin waste has the potential to be an environmentally friendly alternative to chemical fertilizer AB Mix in the cultivation of curly lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) in a vertical garden system. This research aims to describe the quality of LOF with the addition of Eco Enzyme, analyze the effect of various LOF concentrations on the height, number, biomass, and morphology of curly lettuce, and describe the impact of implementing LOF application that can support SDG 2.2 food security indicators. The research was conducted from September to November 2025 at the Oase Tembok Gede Smart Village in Surabaya. The research method uses 2 stages: LOF prototype creation and nutrient content testing at BSPJI Surabaya, referring to the Minister of Agriculture Decree No. 261/KPTS/SR.310/M/4/2019. Additionally, LOF implementation on curly lettuce plants in a vertical garden with parameters of height, number, biomass, and morphology of curly lettuce. The data analysis technique used was descriptive quantitative analysis, followed by a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments (P0: budikdamber water control, P1: 40 mL, P2: 50 mL, P3: 60 mL) and three replications. The quality test results showed a K₂O content of 2.03% meeting the minimum standards of the Ministry of Agriculture Decree No. 261/KPTS/SR.310/M/4/2019. ANOVA analysis showed no significant difference between treatments (p > 0.05), but treatment P3 (60 ml) produced the best growth with a height of 11 cm, 7 leaves, a fresh weight of 11 grams, and fresh green leaves. Although the nutrient quality of LOF is not yet optimal, the growth of curly lettuce remains good because it is supported by suitable environmental conditions. This research supports SDG indicator 2.2 (Zero Hunger) thru the utilization of household waste for local food security based on urban agriculture.

Abstract

Writing journal is a part of problem occurring for student congregations in GKSI Mojogedang. This study aims to describe the implementation of a process approach in training members of the Indonesian Sangkakala Christian Church (GKSI) to write academic articles in English. The process approach focuses on the stages of writing, including pre-writing, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing. It is estimated that this method can improve the quality of writing and the confidence of participants. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through direct observation during the training process, in-depth interviews with participants and facilitators, and documentation of participants' written work. The results show that the process approach has a positive impact on improving the academic writing skills of church members in English. Participants showed improvement in their understanding of article structure, use of academic language, and ability to revise their work independently. In addition, this approach encourages collaboration, reflection, and active participation of participants in the writing process. The challenges faced include differences in educational backgrounds and limited training time. These findings suggest that the process approach is effective in non-formal contexts such as church communities, with the caveat that strategies must be tailored to the characteristics of the participants.

Abstract

This article discusses the role of da'wah communication in maintaining interfaith harmony, focusing on persuasive and empathetic da'wah strategies in interfaith communities. In the context of a multicultural society, da'wah is not only understood as the activity of conveying religious teachings, but also as a medium for social dialogue oriented towards strengthening the values of tolerance and social cohesion. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive analytical approach to explore forms of da'wah communication that can bridge differences in beliefs and build harmonious relations between people. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation of interfaith da'wah activities organized by religious leaders and religious institutions at the community level. The results show that persuasive da'wah strategies that emphasize dialogue, respect for differences, and the delivery of moral messages in a humanistic manner are capable of fostering social empathy and strengthening a sense of togetherness amid plurality. The empathetic approach taken by preachers has proven effective in reducing interfaith prejudice and enhancing constructive social interaction. Thus, da'wah communication based on persuasive and empathetic values plays a significant role in maintaining harmony and strengthening social cohesion in a pluralistic society.

Abstract

Indonesia is entering an aging population phase, characterized by a significant rise in the number of elderly individuals. As they age, they are more prone to diverse health problems that require holistic care. Detecting health issues early is vital to prevent worsening conditions, reduce illness and disability, and improve the quality of life of the elderly. The activity focuses on empowering elderly residents and staff in nursing homes to identify health issues at an early stage. This community service activity applied a descriptive qualitative approach. By conducting interviews, observations, and examinations, the team identified the main complaints and health conditions experienced by most elderly residents in nursing homes. A total of 75 elderly residents underwent health screenings, including 60 females (80%) and 15 males (20%), with an average age of 78.92 years. The screenings covered medical record reviews, interviews, vital sign checks, and health education sessions. Hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes mellitus, hyperuricemia, and cataracts were identified as the five most common illnesses among elderly residents. The predominant complaints reported were muscle pain, headaches, skin injuries/bruises, and itchy skin. Through early detection, holistic assessment, and risk factor identification, elderly health can be optimally maintained, quality of life enhanced, and aging experienced with greater independence, comfort, and meaning.
