Abstract

Sundanese traditions, which are rich in cultural and aesthetic values, are now at a cultural crossroads due to the influence of modernization and globalization. This creates challenges and opportunities for writers to maintain cultural identity while responding to changing times. The author observes and analyzes the current situation, this becomes the basic idea for the author to then express it into a painting. The author exploits cultural intersections to create work that not only maintains traditional values but is also relevant to contemporary issues. The process of creating paintings that combine traditional Sundanese imagery with contemporary cultural elements produces a meaningful form of artistic expression. In this way, it is hoped that this work can contribute to understanding cultural dynamics in painting and encourage more artists to explore and integrate traditional cultural heritage in their work.

The research aims to analyze the visual and narrative aspects of the artwork, understand the symbolism in the context of women’s representation and feminism, and explore themes of female identity, courage, and trauma recovery. Abstract

Sub urban is an interaction zone between villages and cities on the outskirts of the city around the main urban center. This Sub urban area is a source of inspiration for the author in creating this work of art, because the increasing number of land clearing for commercial, industrial and residential buildings in Indonesia, especially in areas near the author’s residence, is also an inspiration for this painting. This painting is a form of the author’s concerns and hopes for the sub urban environment so that development can run in balance with environmental conservation. This painting consists of 3 canvases which are presented as one triptych canvas. Overall, it presents the sub urban environment with its elements, and also indirectly in the three canvases depicts changes in the sub urban environment. This painting uses the technique of broken color impressionism. Impressionism has the value of transition, change, momentaryness which is in line with the concept of this painting. Small streaks of color, side by side, pile up on the canvas that blend optically when viewed from afar. The colors used are also bright and contrasting colors. This work offers a new contribution in the context of contemporary painting by combining the classic style of Impressionism with modern themes about the changing sub urban environment.

Abstract

The following written presentation is a track record of Community Service (PKM) activities that took place at Taman Griya Mitra Desa Cinunuk Cileunyi Bandung. The activities carried out were to optimize the function and role of a park at the gate of the housing complex, which has existed for a long time but has not been well maintained and only one year ago received assistance from the government in its arrangement and development. Since being renovated and repaired with the addition of huts, swings, slides and scales as well as the arrangement of ornamental trees, this park has been widely visited and is a representative children's playground. Through the implementation of the night market in the park environment, it will be able to increase the utility value of the park which is not only for playing but also as a place for art and improving the economy of the surrounding community. Through cooperation between the Community, Entrepreneurs (UMKM) Universities (through PKM activities) Related Agencies, the Cultural Conservation Center can realize the assistance of the Salamon Market night market as a means of creativity and growing the community's economy. With the scientific approach of management and procedures in managing an exhibition as the basis for organizing a market, a representative market event will be realized. The result of organizing Salamon Market is the realization of collaboration from various elements in making the market event a success in a public park and urban environment. The public's response can be seen from the number of participants in filling the art performance event, participating in stalls, watching the Bioling film screening, participating in healthy gymnastics, practicing batik, coloring motifs for children, and a batik fashion show for residents.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the transformation of the Bilik Garut batik motif in the context of traditional weaving development. Bilik Garut batik is known as one of the distinctive motifs from the Garut region, carrying significant historical and cultural value. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this research explores the process of adapting and innovating the motif into traditional weaving products. Data were obtained through field observations, interviews with artisans, and literature reviews related to batik and traditional weaving. The findings show that the transformation of the Bilik Garut batik motif into weaving introduces a new aesthetic dimension that not only preserves local identity but also enhances the economic value of weaving products. This motif adaptation also plays an important role in preserving regional cultural heritage while creating more innovative products that appeal to both local and international markets. The study suggests the need for collaboration between designers, artisans, and local governments in promoting culturally-based products, while also strengthening the creative economy rooted in traditional heritage.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the Dewi Sri myth’s aesthetic value as a source of inspiration for digital creations featuring Nyi Pohaci motifs. The myth of Dewi Sri, the deity of fertility and rice in Indonesian agrarian culture, plays a significant role in illustrating the spiritual and cultural traditions of the society. This study employs a contemporary aesthetic methodology created by Prof. Dharsono. It is a multifaceted methodology that examines how form, colour, symbolism, emotions, and personal expression are all analyzed in this procedure of creating art. There are four stages to the study process for developing motif designs: 1) exploration, 2) experimentation, 3) contemplation, and 4) realization. This research also examines the socio-cultural context in which the myth of Dewi Sri was developed, resulting in an interaction between tradition and modernity in the creative process of labour. According to the research findings, Nyi Pohaci’s contemporary design has the potential to facilitate a dialogue between the past and the present, as well as to reflect aesthetic attractiveness. The design’s visual structure is intended to convey messages of harmony, balance, and fecundity about nature, which are pertinent to the current environmental and social issues.

This research examines the role of interior space as a basis for decision-making in the process of creating visual art, with a focus on a case study of the Monumental Art course. In the context of visual art education, interior space is not only understood as a physical element but also as a medium of artistic expression that influences imagination, creativity, and the concept of a work. The study aims to identify how interior space is applied in the learning process of the Monumental Art course and how it impacts the students’ artistic outcomes. A qualitative approach was used in this research through observations of the learning process and an analysis of the works produced. The findings show that interior space functions as an integral element in building artistic narratives, stimulating material exploration, and strengthening the spatial context within monumental art works. Furthermore, the project-based learning approach applied in this course proved effective in encouraging students to explore the potential of interior space as an environment for artistic creation. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the Monumental Art course, which focuses on interior space as a conceptual basis for visual art creation. The recommendations of this research include strengthening the exploration of space within the visual art curriculum and further utilizing interior space in visual art education.
