Abstract

Entering the economic era of free competition, various fishing technology supports have increased, but there are difficulties in terms of the availability of fish storage media in the long term. Products circulating today are not able to last long and are easily damaged. The problem that occurs is that the storage media does not have long durability against age, impact, maintenance and ease of repair. The composite material application applies the hand lay up method. The work process is carried out in stages starting from making patterns, molds to finished products. The material used consists of thermosetting resin, supported by reinforcing fiber consisting of E-glass fiber and organic ramie fiber. The combination of the two is called a hybrid material. The stages of this process are carried out efficiently and carefully until the final target is met for a quality Ice cool box product. Ice cool box composite as a direct application of campus research results so that it can be used for the needs of Acehnese fishermen.

Abstract

One of the critical phases in the production of lele sangkuriang (catfish) seeds is the rearing of larvae - post larvae - seed. During this phase, its growth is strongly influenced by feed, in particular natural feed and or feed that suits the needs of the fish. Tubifex sp type natural feed is one type of feed that is generally used by Balai Benih Ikan,BBI, fish state hatchery) during the rearing period of lele sangkuriang seed. The results of discussions and sharing with technicians and employees of BBI Parom Nagan Raya and surrounding fish farmers, information was obtained that so far they have been very dependent on live tubifex type natural feed ordered from North Sumatera Province for lele sangkuriang rearing (for fourteen days of rearing). The need for live tubifex for one cycle of activity is 5 kg-10 kg, at a price of Rp.100.000/kg (IDR), excluding the cost of box packing + shipping costs to Nagan Raya. Departing from the problem of these partners (BBI), the implementation team of the Pengabdian Berbasis Riset (PBR) of Universitas Teuku Umar (UTU), has agreed to introduce science and technology in the form of introduction of instant tubifex/fexTan artificial feed. "Instant tubifex" is a type of artificial feed that is designed to resemble/ mimic which physically (color, shape) is like the original tubifex. It's just that this fexTan feed is easy to produce, raw materials in Aceh are very available, and the price per kg is still affordable/economically calculated and uses simple equipment. This PBR activity is carried out through two methods, namely lectures and discussions and demonstrations at partner locations. For information that this fexTan is produced from the main raw material for baby tuna (Thunnus sp) or known as sisik fish (local name), priced at Rp.50.000/kg and crude protein ±30%. Baby tuna fish that has undergone certain stages/processes, which are then molded based on the desired meshsize and put in plastic cups as packing containers and for subsequent use can be stored in the freezer. The results of PBR's activities for two days show that: i) there has been an increase in partner knowledge and competence about fexTan, ii) the availability of fexTan production facilities, iii) partner productivity has increased, iv) increased partner profits.

Abstract

Mangroves are biological natural resources that have the potential to provide benefits for human life and aquatic biota organisms. Mangrove ecosystems have ecological and economic functions in coastal areas. The Gampong Lamtutui area has an important role because it is a provider of natural resources and environmental services with great potential in terms of ecology, economy and tourism. So far, the activities that occur in the mangrove ecosystem area in Lamtutui have an unfavorable impact on the mangrove vegetation in that location, due to the large number of uses of the mangrove area for vannamei shrimp pond areas, so that the structure of mangrove vegetation at various growth levels changes. The purpose of this service is to raise awareness and motivation for the coastal communities of Gampong Lamtutui to replant mangroves as a form of concern for the preservation of coastal ecosystems. This service activity is carried out for two days, from October 30, 2021 to October 31, 2021. The location of this service is in Gampong Lamtutui, Peukan Bada District, Aceh Besar Regency. The method of activity used in this activity is counseling and mentoring mangrove planting. The results of this service activity are the planting of 1,000 stems of Rhizophora sonneratia mangrove tree seeds in Gampong Lamtutui, as well as the establishment of cooperation with a group of local fishermen for monitoring the mangrove trees that have been planted.

Abstract

Keumamah fish or wooden fish is one of Aceh's traditional preparations made from the main raw material of tuna, skipjack tuna which is dried in the sun. The purpose of this activity is to find out the stages of processing ready-to-eat keumamah fish so that the resulting product is more hygienic and can increase consumer attractiveness. Wood fish (keumamah) is generally processed from tuna (Euthynnus affinis) in a very simple way. UD. Samudera Mirja manages wood fish (keumamah), salted fish, fish meal, and shabu prawns. Researchers are directly involved in every activity in the field and carry out direct observations systematically. This processing unit operates with production levels that change every day depending on the availability of raw materials in each production. Processing of ready-to-eat wooden fish (keumamah) at UD. Samudera Mirja is very simple with packaging that still uses ordinary plastic cups. Keumamah packaging that uses plain plastic cups is replaced with plastic bottle packaging that has a label on each package and is coated with aluminum foil and in terms of taste it has many flavor variants, namely; original taste, spicy taste and sweet taste. By making new innovations in the processing of ready-to-eat keumamah fish that can create new flavors with more attractive packaging forms so that it can get a lot of consumer interest.

Abstract

The problem faced by partners is the need for more knowledge about the technique of raising bileh fish (Rasbora sp.) in aquaculture ponds. The bileh fish from nature does not last long in the fish farmer's pond. This is because the techniques used are not appropriate and inappropriate. The solution offered by the proposing team is assistance in the technique of enlarging bileh fish in cultivation containers. This activity is designed to provide knowledge and skills on bileh fish enlargement techniques. The service activities were carried out in Gampong Lhok seumot, Beutong District, Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh Province. The stages of implementation are 1). Preparation and arrangement of the program, 2). Program implementation, 3). Monitoring and evaluation, 4). Reporting and publication. The output of this service activity is the publication of scientific articles in accredited service journals and news in electronic mass media, increasing partner knowledge. The service results were obtained by increasing the knowledge and skills of fish farmers in raising bileh fish and increasing production (survival rate of bileh fish> 75%). Fish farmers continue to be assisted with the sustainability of the service activity program. Bileh fish, as a local fish, has the potential to be developed as a new candidate for aquaculture organisms.
