Abstract

Shooting ability is a fundamental skill that critically determines performance effectiveness in futsal, particularly among elementary school students. However, its development is often hindered by inadequate lower limb muscle strength and ankle stability. This study investigated the effect of wall sit and calf raises training on shooting ability enhancement in futsal extracurricular participants at SDIT Wadi Fatimah. A pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was employed. Eighteen students were selected using total sampling. Data were collected through shooting tests before and after an eight-week intervention. Wall sit was implemented during the first four weeks to develop leg strength, while calf raises were introduced in the final four weeks to improve ankle stability. Descriptive analysis showed increased mean shooting scores from 7.50 at pretest to 9.78 at posttest. The paired sample t-test yielded a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), confirming a statistically significant improvement. These findings empirically demonstrate that the structured combination of wall sit and calf raises training effectively enhances futsal shooting ability. It is concluded that a progressive lower limb strengthening program contributes substantially to measurable improvements in shooting accuracy and consistency among young elementary school athletes.

Abstract

Introduction: Agility is essential in volleyball. Accurate measurement helps identify talent, improve training, and reduce injury risk. However, common methods such as the T-agility test have limits in accuracy and practicality. Therefore, sensor-based technologies are developed to provide more objective and precise results. Objective: This study aims to create a low-cost and practical sensor system to measure volleyball agility. It focuses on developing a laser-based timing gate and evaluating its validity and reliability within a single session. Methodology: The participants were 25 collegiate volleyball players (age: 19.0 ± 0.88 years; height: 161.9 ± 7.19 cm; weight: 53.6 ± 9.15 kg). Each participant performed the T-test twice, and the average score was used for analysis. Intra-session reliability was assessed using the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC). Results: The laser timing system showed slightly faster results than the stopwatch in the first trial, slower results in the second, and overall faster average times across trials. Discussion: A low-cost laser-based agility system was successfully developed and tested against a manual stopwatch. The findings indicate acceptable validity and reliability. Faster times from the laser system are likely due to the removal of human reaction delays. This system is affordable, simple to use, and suitable as an alternative to expensive commercial timing devices, allowing wider access to objective performance measurement. Conclusions: The laser timing gate is a reliable and economical tool for assessing agility in volleyball players and is useful for research and training purposes.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of structured passing training using the inside and outside of the foot on passing accuracy among futsal athletes. A pre-experimental study employing a One-Group Pretest–Posttest Design was conducted with 20 active Triball FC athletes selected through total sampling. Passing accuracy was measured using a standardized futsal passing and stopping test. The intervention consisted of a six-week training program with three sessions per week, focusing on inside-foot and outside-foot passing drills. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, and paired-sample t-tests. The results demonstrated significant improvements in passing accuracy following the intervention. The mean inside-foot passing score increased from 12.60 ± 1.19 to 18.20 ± 1.11 (p < 0.001), while the outside-foot passing score increased from 7.20 ± 1.11 to 14.00 ± 1.41 (p < 0.001). These findings indicate that systematic and progressive passing training effectively enhances technical passing performance in futsal athletes. The study highlights the importance of integrating both inside-foot and outside-foot passing drills into regular training programs, with inside-foot passing serving as the primary technique for accuracy and ball control, while outside-foot passing provides tactical flexibility in dynamic game situations.

Abstract

Teamwork is a fundamental factor in achieving success in sports competitions, particularly in football, where effective coordination, communication, and collaboration among team members are essential for optimal performance. However, empirical evidence regarding the influence of teamwork on club performance at the regional competition level remains limited. This study aimed to examine the effect of teamwork on the competitive performance of Riverside Forest FC in the West Java Liga 4 competition. A quantitative study with a correlational approach was employed using a survey method. The study involved 30 respondents, consisting of athletes, coaches, managers, and club officials of Riverside Forest FC, selected through a total sampling technique. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression with SPSS software. The results revealed that teamwork had a significant positive effect on the club's competitive performance (β = 0.382; p < 0.001). The coefficient of determination indicated that teamwork explained 45.8% of the variance in competitive performance (R² = 0.458), while the remaining 54.2% was influenced by other factors outside the scope of this study. These findings demonstrate that effective teamwork, characterized by strong communication, coordination, mutual trust, and clear role distribution, plays a crucial role in enhancing the competitive performance of Riverside Forest FC in the West Java Liga 4 competition. Therefore, strengthening teamwork should become a strategic priority for football clubs seeking sustainable competitive success.

Abstract

Following a decline from winning the gold medal at the 2018 West Java Provincial Sports Week (PORPROV) to securing silver in 2022, the Sumedang Regency Rugby Association has faced challenges in maintaining athlete performance. Psychological factors, particularly mental toughness and achievement motivation, are considered essential determinants of athletic performance. This study aimed to examine the relationship between mental toughness and achievement motivation among Sumedang rugby athletes. A quantitative correlational design was employed involving 24 active rugby athletes selected through purposive sampling from a population of 28 athletes based on predetermined criteria, including active training participation and competition experience. Data were collected using validated Likert-scale questionnaires measuring mental toughness (14 items) and achievement motivation (34 items). Following confirmation of normality and linearity assumptions, data were analyzed using the Pearson Product-Moment correlation test at a significance level of 0.05. The analysis revealed a positive correlation between mental toughness and achievement motivation (r = 0.365); however, the relationship was not statistically significant (p = 0.356). These findings indicate that athletes with higher mental toughness tend to demonstrate greater achievement motivation, although the association was insufficient to reach statistical significance within the present sample. Future studies are recommended to involve larger samples and examine additional psychological and environmental factors influencing athletes' achievement motivation.
