Abstract

An individual's ego identity, a self-image that grows, develops, and internalizes through social interaction, is the culmination of the psychosocial phases they have experienced. This study examined the effectiveness of reality group counseling in enhancing the ego identity of high school students, using a pretest-posttest control group experimental design. Based on the ego identity inventory results, eight students were identified as having low ego identity. The study used two types of instruments: treatment and measurement. The treatment instrument was a reality group counseling implementation guide, and the measurement instrument was an ego identity inventory with a total item validity above the critical r value of 0.344 and a reliability coefficient of 0.957, indicating that the inventory is reliable and suitable for research purposes. Researchers analyzed the data using non-parametric statistical tests. The hypothesis testing yielded an N-Gain percentage of 109.18 > 76 and an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.012 < 0.05. Therefore, the study rejected the null hypothesis and accepted the alternative hypothesis, suggesting that reality group counseling effectively enhances the ego identity of high school students. Abstract

The philosophy of Si Tou Timou Tumou Tou has been ignored by various Minahasa communities in modern times. The essence of the philosophy is increasingly lost due to the attitude and actions of the Minahasa community, who live full of bringing each other down in order to gain self-esteem and personal dignity, attitudes that belittle others, showing off their social identity as being richer, being arrogant (not wanting more competitors), and fighting (which puts others at the lowest). The purpose of this study is to provide an understanding of Indonesian guidance and counseling for the Minahasa community or congregation, so that they maintain and convey Si Tou Timou Tumou Tou as a guideline for their daily lives that benefits others. This study uses a qualitative approach with thematic analysis of literature on Minahasa cultural values and pastoral care. The findings of this study offer a culture-based pastoral care model that can be adopted by GMIM and other religious institutions in Indonesia. Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of Solution-Focused Brief Counseling (SFBC) in addressing learning difficulties experienced by slow learners in inclusive schools. Using a quantitative experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group, the research involved students identified as slow learners at State Junior High School 4, Magetan. The experimental group received group counseling using the SFBC approach for eight sessions. Data were collected through learning difficulty scales, observations, documentation, and interviews. ANCOVA analysis showed a significant improvement in students' learning abilities after receiving SFBC counseling. The approach helped students recognize their strengths, increase motivation, and develop coping strategies for academic challenges. Findings confirmed that SFBC is effective in enhancing the confidence, concentration, comprehension, and future orientation of slow learners. The integration of this counseling approach contributes to inclusive education by offering a constructive, strength-based intervention model. Abstract

This study aims to analyze gender differences in Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) abilities among adolescents in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Using a cross-sectional approach, 521 adolescents (230 boys and 291 girls) aged 15–18 years participated in this study. The research instruments used have been culturally adapted to measure the five dimensions of SEL: emotion regulation, empathy, cooperation, leadership, and stress resilience. Data analysis using independent samples t-test and MANOVA showed that adolescent girls were significantly superior in emotion regulation (p < 0.001), empathy (p < 0.001), and cooperation (p = 0.002), while adolescent boys were better at leadership (p < 0.001) and stress resilience (p < 0.001). These findings indicate that gender differences in SEL are influenced by biological factors and Javanese social and cultural norms typical of Yogyakarta, where women are encouraged to be more empathetic and harmonious. At the same time, men are expected to be more independent and resilient. The study's implications emphasize the importance of developing SEL programs that are responsive to gender and local contexts, such as stress-management training for women and increased empathy and cooperation for men. Thus, appropriate interventions can more holistically support adolescent social-emotional development.  Keywords: social emotional learning, gender differences, adolescents, yogyakarta, javanese culture

Abstract

Emotional labor among teachers in Raudhatul Athfal (RA), Islamic early childhood education in Indonesia, is a complex and underexplored phenomenon. This study aims to explore and provide preliminary findings of the emotional labor experiences of RA teachers. Using a qualitative case study design, ten female RA teachers from Bandung, Indonesia, were recruited through convenience sampling. This study utilized an open-ended online survey and Braun and Clarke’s reflexive thematic analysis as data collection method and analysis, respectively. Three themes emerged. The first theme is Multirole Job Demands, with sub-themes: RA teachers’ job characteristics (n=10), multirole demands (n=8), cultural display rules (n=5), and spiritual educators as emotional labor intensifier (n=4). The second theme is Emotional Labor Strategies, with sub-themes: surface acting (n=6), and deep acting (n=3). The last theme is Islamic Framework in Emotional Labor, with sub-themes: Islamic practices as emotional regulation resources and strategies (n=6), spiritual meaning-making (n=9), and workplace spirituality (n=2). The overall emotional labor experiences of the RA teachers are discussed. The findings highlight key constructs that can be explored and directly measured in future research to validate the emotional labor process among RA teachers in Indonesia. Ultimately, this research can contribute to developing support programs for RA teachers that effectively promote their well-being. Abstract

This research aims to develop innovative products in the form of group guidance media and e-guides on traditional game-based techniques for children with autism. This research uses the Research and Development (R&D) method, adopting the Borg & Gall development model, which is modified as needed. The development stage includes preliminary studies, planning, initial product manufacturing, expert testing, and product revision. Validation was conducted by two learning media experts, two counseling guidance experts, and two guidance and counseling teachers at SLB, who served as potential users. Quantitative data were collected using assessment instruments on a 1-4 scale and analyzed using the Aiken inter-rater agreement technique, while qualitative data in the form of expert input were analyzed descriptively and interpretively through triangulation. The results showed that the product received an overall validity index of 0.96 from media experts, 0.89 from BK experts, and 0.95 from potential users, all classified as "high". The content's accuracy and clarity are considered adequate, with some improvement suggestions that have been integrated into the product revision. These products are not only considered appropriate in terms of design and usability but are also culturally relevant because they integrate traditional games as an intervention medium. The conclusion of the study indicates that the traditional game-based Theraplay technique e-guide is feasible, practical, and effective for use as a group guidance medium in services for children with autism in Indonesia, while supporting the preservation of local wisdom through an adaptive counseling approach. Abstract

This study is grounded in the context of 21st-century education, which is marked by increasing diversity. Such conditions require students at both school and university levels to develop tolerance as a key multicultural competence. Previous research indicates that students’ tolerance levels remain moderate, with some showing low awareness in respecting differences, raising concerns about potential social conflict. To address this challenge, the present study introduces a psychological guidance approach as an intervention model to strengthen the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor dimensions of tolerance. A quasi-experimental pretest–posttest control-group design was applied to 66 students from a teacher education faculty in Bandung. ANCOVA results revealed a significant difference between the experimental and control groups (F = 37.944; p < .001), accompanied by a large effect size (r ≈ 0.814). These outcomes demonstrate that the psychological guidance model effectively enhances several indicators of tolerance, including persistence in managing differences, appreciation of diversity, and equal, non-discriminatory treatment of others. The study concludes that psychological guidance is a promising strategy for fostering tolerance in higher education settings. Future research should broaden the sample to include multiple institutions and employ qualitative methods to further explore the dynamics of tolerance development. Abstract

In the accelerating era of globalization and digital transformation, understanding how Indonesian youth perceive the future is crucial in psychology and education. Despite global advances in future time perspective (FTP) research, its socio-cultural dimensions in Indonesia remain underexplored. Using a scoping review guided by PRISMA criteria, this study systematically maps the scope, trends, and conceptual gaps in FTP research among Indonesian adolescents. Of the 178 identified studies, 17 met the inclusion criteria and were thematically synthesized into four themes: the evolution and contextual adaptation of FTP research in Indonesia, variables in FTP studies, conceptual and methodological contributions, and implications for youth counseling and development. The findings bridge Western and Indonesian FTP frameworks and emphasize the need for diverse qualitative, mixed, and longitudinal approaches. Future research should further explore socio-emotional and cultural dynamics while developing contextually grounded FTP-based interventions for Indonesian youth. Keywords: future time perspective, youth development, scoping review, socio-cultural adaptation, global transformation
