Abstract

Although the relationship between job satisfaction and work engagement has been widely studied, empirical evidence in the public sector within underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions remains limited. This gap is particularly evident in West Halmahera, a region with geographical challenges that may influence the work experiences of civil servants. This study aims to examine the relationship between job satisfaction and work engagement among civil servants at Office X, West Halmahera. The study employed a quantitative correlational approach with a cross-sectional design, involving 341 civil servants selected through purposive sampling with a minimum of two years of work experience as the criterion. Data were collected using the Job Satisfaction Survey (JSS) and the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale-9 (UWES-9). Because the data were not normally distributed, Spearman’s rho correlation analysis was used. The results indicated a significant positive relationship between job satisfaction and work engagement (r = .321; p < .001), with the strength of the relationship ranging from weak to moderate. Descriptively, most respondents were in the high category of job satisfaction (56.3%) and high work engagement (83.6%). These findings are expected to contribute to the development of industrial and organizational psychology literature in the public sector, particularly within the context of 3T regions. Abstract

Psychological, social, and spiritual dimensions have been recognized as influential factors in the bereavement process, studies integrating these components into a unified model of Psycho-Social-Spiritual Well-Being remain limited, particularly within the Indonesian cultural context. This study aimed to examine the relationship between Psycho-Social-Spiritual Well-Being and bereavement responses among adults who experienced the loss of significant others. A quantitative correlational design was employed involving 204 adults in the Ex-Residency of Semarang. Data were collected using the Adult Attitude to Grief Scale (AAG) and the National Institutes of Health–Healing Experience in All Life Stressors (NIH-HEALS). Because grief data were not normally distributed, Spearman’s rho correlation analysis was conducted. The results revealed a significant negative correlation between Psycho-Social-Spiritual Well-Being and bereavement responses r = –.236; p = .001. The majority of participants were categorized as moderate in Psycho-Social-Spiritual Well-Being (70.6%) and bereavement responses (66.2%). These findings indicate that Psycho-Social-Spiritual Well-Being functions as a protective factor in bereavement adjustment. Implications highlight the importance of developing counseling interventions integrating meaning-centered approaches, social support enhancement, and spiritual dimensions to strengthen adaptive coping among bereaved individuals. Abstract

Child marriage is driven by poverty, lack of access to education, gender inequality, and cultural norms, and can be countered through self-efficacy and digital counseling. This study assesses the efficacy of Instagram-based peer counseling in improving students' self-efficacy versus conventional peer counseling, such as face-to-face. This quasi-experimental study used a pre-test-post-test design with 220 high school students in Bojonegoro, Indonesia. The intervention group received Instagram-based peer counseling, while the control group received conventional peer counseling. Self-efficacy was evaluated using validated instruments that evaluated three dimensions: generality, level, and strength. The data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U Test and the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. Statistical results indicated significant improvements in both the experimental and control groups (Z = -8.836, p < 0.001 for the experimental group; Z = -8.819, p < 0.001 for the control group), with Instagram-based interventions showing superiority, supported by Mann-Whitney U results showing significant differences between groups (p < 0.001). Instagram-based peer counseling significantly enhances students' self-efficacy, particularly in the areas of generality, level, and strength. Schools should integrate Instagram-based peer counseling into reproductive health curricula. Abstract

Adolescents in orphanages face psychosocial challenges, including emotional deprivation and limited family support, that hinder resilience development. This study examines the effectiveness of reality group counseling using the WDEP technique combined with art therapy in improving the resilience of orphanage adolescents. A quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group was employed, involving 14 adolescents from Panti Asuhan Miftahunnajah (7 experimental, 7 control) selected through purposive sampling. The Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC, α = 0.885) was used for measurement. The experimental group received six sessions of WDEP-based reality group counseling integrated with art therapy. Results showed a significant improvement in the experimental group (p = 0.018, Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test), with an average N-Gain of 0.7654 (76.54%), classified as high effectiveness. The control group showed no significant change (p = 0.611). These findings confirm that integrating WDEP and art therapy within group counseling is an effective and comprehensive approach to strengthen resilience among orphanage adolescents. Keywords: reality group counseling, WDEP technique, art therapy, resilience, orphanage adolescents

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of digital marketing persuasive messages on high school students' intrinsic motivation in major selection. While higher education institutions utilize aggressive digital campaigns focusing on extrinsic rewards, this research positions digital marketing as a psychological variable influencing career orientation stability. Using PLS-SEM, data were collected from 855 social-media-active students in Yogyakarta. The structural model demonstrates robust predictive power, explaining a substantial variance in decision paralysis (R2 = 0.615) and a moderate variance in intrinsic motivation (R2 = 0.428). The results reveal that high intensity of persuasive content and algorithmic exposure significantly trigger cognitive overload (β = 0.425 and β = 0.380, respectively), which directly precipitates decision paralysis (β = 0.680). This mental fatigue subsequently erodes intrinsic motivation (β = -0.310; direct path β = -0.150) and increases cognitive dissonance (β = 0.520). Critically, the findings demonstrate a significant negative overall effect (p<0.001), confirming that excessive, uniform digital marketing produces a destructive psychological cycle, replacing pure interest with anxiety and dependence on digital trends. The study concludes that universities must shift from quantity-focused strategies to more authentic, curated information to foster genuine student interest and reduce the risk of future academic burnout or dropout.  Keywords: cognitive overload, decision paralysis, digital marketing, intrinsic motivation, major selection
