Abstract

Not all students remain focused during classroom learning. Some engage in other activities that divert their attention from the learning process. This behavior is known as off-task behavior. This study examines six aspects of off-task behavior in classrooms: inattention, out of seat, noncompletion of task, talking without permission, unmotivated to learn, and unprepared for class, among high school and vocational school students in Salatiga. This research employs a quantitative comparative method with an Independent Sample t-test for statistical analysis. The participants are 500 students, including 250 high school students and 250 vocational school students, selected through purposive sampling. Results indicate no significant difference in off-task behavior between high school and vocational school students (p = 0.451). Both high school and vocational school students predominantly fall into the moderate category. This study provides insights into differences in behavioral tendencies and aspects of off-task behavior in the classroom. Keywords: off-task behavior, classroom, student, senior high school, vocational high school, secondary education

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to conduct a systematic review of the literature for the last 5 years (2019–2024) related to the use of empathy-based approaches for character education in faith-based organizations. The method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach, following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, consisting of four primary stages: identification, screening, eligibility screening, and synthesis of the final 14 selected studies per the inclusion criteria. The review concludes by identifying four main themes: (1) models and practices of empathy-driven character education; (2) spiritual and affective values’ incorporation; (3) challenges and barriers to implementation; and (4) an empirical understanding of whether empathy contributes to forming holistic religious character. The results suggest that empathy can be enhanced through pedagogical techniques including religious telling, interfaith dialogue, service learning, and spiritual reflection. However, barriers such as lack of teacher training, resistance from the system and inconsistency of values still present major challenges. The study suggests a shift in pedagogic and policy focus to the nurturing of empathy in religious education systems. Its theoretical and practical contributions should further inform thinking about 21st-century character education as more human centred, reflective and situated. Introduction Character education is now perhaps more vital than ever before to schools but its definition and implementation is still open to interpretation and debate

Abstract

This study analyzes the career-planning profiles of Vocational High School students in Bogor Regency, an area with a growing industry but high unemployment among Vocational High School graduates. Using a quantitative descriptive survey, data were collected from 506 tenth-grade tourism students. A 46-item instrument was validated using the Rasch Model in Winstep software version 5.7.3, chosen for its detailed item fit analysis and for ensuring measurement reliability with ordinal data. Results showed that 72.13% of students were in the "Moderately Capable" category, suggesting basic awareness of career planning but limited practical execution. The psychomotor aspect scored lowest (31.65%), indicating a weak ability to translate career goals into action. No significant gender differences were found. These findings underscore the need for targeted interventions to strengthen students’ psychomotor skills. The study provides a foundation for designing career guidance programs tailored to the psychomotor aspect of vocational education in Bogor Regency. Abstract

This study aims to develop and evaluate the PERMATA educational game application, a digital learning medium designed to enhance students' understanding of currency among those with mild intellectual disabilities at a YKB Special Needs School. The research adopted the Research and Development (R&D) methodology, following the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Media, material, and language experts assessed the application's validity. Practicality was tested with teachers and students, while effectiveness was measured using a pre-test and post-test design with 26 students to gauge improvement in their current comprehension. The validation results confirmed the application's high quality, with an average validity score of 92% (very valid). Practicality tests yielded scores of 93% from teachers and 95% from students (very practical). The effectiveness test demonstrated a significant increase in learning outcomes, with an average score of 85.8% (very effective), indicating that the application successfully improved students' understanding of currency. This study addresses a critical gap in special education by developing a tailored digital game that specifically targets financial literacy for students with mild intellectual disabilities. The PERMATA application is a novel, validated tool that serves as a viable, practical, and compelling interactive medium for enhancing essential life skills, making a significant contribution to inclusive, technology-driven education. Abstract

This research is important because the increasing cases of cyberbullying among adolescents, particularly vocational high school students in wetland communities, pose serious risks to their psychological Well-being and social relationships. The study aims to map the characteristics, influencing factors, and interaction patterns within adolescents’ social systems in cases of cyberbullying, using Bronfenbrenner’s ecological theory. A total of 798 vocational students in South Kalimantan participated in the study. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire grounded in five ecological systems, validated through expert review and Exploratory Factor Analysis (KMO > 0.5; factor loading > 0.5), with Cronbach’s Alpha > 0.70. Data were analysed using SPSS 25 with descriptive, correlation, and factor analyses. The findings reveal that the microsystem, particularly peer relationships and social media interactions, is the most dominant determinant of cyberbullying behaviour in wetland communities. Abstract

This study aims to map and analyze the scientific landscape of online gender-based violence (OGBV) comprehensively through a bibliometric approach, utilizing the Scopus database and the VOSviewer visualization tool. The goal is to identify trends in topic evolution, key research focus clusters, and prospective research gaps. This method quantifies and visualizes the research structure of OGBV from 2016 to 2025. The results of the Co-Keyword analysis show that the scientific literature is very focused on two main concepts: "cyber violence" and "cyber-bullying". Research has shifted from an initial focus on adolescent cyber-bullying to more gender-specific contemporary and social issues, such as "hate speech" and "online harassment" on "social media". The cluster analysis grouped the research into three main areas: 1) Studies on Victims and Their Impacts (focusing on psychology and quantitative methodologies), 2) Digital Contexts and Forms of Violence (focusing on social media and specific violence), and 3) Gender-Based Violence Relationships and Aspects (focusing on perpetrators, prevention, and online-offline relationships). The main research gap identified in the prevention area, where the term density remains low, underscores the urgency of developing effective interventions and strategies for OGBV. Abstract

Academic procrastination poses a significant challenge to learning outcomes among adolescents, often stemming from psychological and motivational factors. This study investigates the extent to which academic self-efficacy and academic self-esteem simultaneously predict academic procrastination in students. A quantitative approach was employed, using multiple linear regression, to examine the predictive power of both variables. The participants consisted of 220 eighth-grade students from State Junior High School 4 Purworejo. Data were collected using three instruments: an academic procrastination scale, an academic self-efficacy scale, and an academic self-esteem scale. The results revealed that academic self-efficacy and academic self-esteem together significantly predicted academic procrastination (p < 0.001), accounting for 50.9% of its variance (R² = 0.509). These findings underscore the importance of fostering students’ academic self-efficacy and self-esteem to reduce procrastination and enhance academic performance. Abstract

Mental health has become an increasingly primary global concern. The Qur’an, as a divine revelation, holds significant potential to influence human psychology. Numerous studies indicate that reading the Qur’an can positively contribute to mental well-being. Among its many aspects, Qur’anic stories play a central role in shaping psychological stability and fostering social harmony. This study employs a qualitative design using secondary data. Relevant articles and books were collected from Google Scholar and analyzed thematically through psychological and Qur’anic perspectives. The findings reveal that Qur’anic stories promote psychological well-being and social harmony by integrating the processes of learning, teaching, and preaching. These processes strengthen both intrapersonal and interpersonal phases of human development. This mechanism reflects the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) emphasis on ‘allama al-Qur’an (learning the Qur’an, intrapersonal) and ta’allama al-Qur’an (teaching and preaching the Qur’an, interpersonal). Through these two phases, communities are encouraged to mitigate and reduce mental health challenges, ultimately supporting individual and collective well-being. Abstract

The study examines teachers' professional identity by gender and teaching age using an explanatory survey with 196 participants from South Korea and Indonesia. Using a 25-item Likert scale, four dimensions were measured: job satisfaction, work commitment, motivation, and self-efficacy. Multivariate analyses showed no significant overall difference in professional identity between teachers from the two countries. However, South Korean teachers reported lower job satisfaction but higher self-efficacy compared to Indonesian peers. Gender did not influence professional identity overall, though male teachers in both countries tended to have higher job satisfaction than females. No interaction was found between country and gender. Teaching age did not generally affect professional identity, but an interaction effect with country was observed for self-efficacy: South Korean teachers showed a convex pattern across three teaching age categories, whereas Indonesian teachers showed a concave pattern, consistently lower than South Korean counterparts. These findings highlight cross-national differences in components of professional identity and suggest implications for theory and practice in teacher professional development, emphasizing the need to consider cultural and experiential factors in identity formation. This contributes to understanding how personal and contextual variables shape teachers' professional self-concept in varying educational settings. Keywords: explanatory survey, gender, identity formation, professional identity, teaching age

Abstract

Despite increasing interest in traditional games as pedagogical tools, research remains limited in explaining their interdisciplinary value, their contribution to children’s social-emotional well-being, their cultural relevance, and their applicability in online learning. This study addresses these gaps by examining the use of traditional games in a private primary school in Central Java with 120 students aged 7–11. Using a mixed-methods design, it integrates survey data on engagement, stress, and cultural awareness with focus group and interview insights to capture students’ and teachers’ experiences. Findings reveal that traditional games foster a heightened sense of cultural identity and promote cooperative behavior among students, thereby improving interpersonal skills and cultural understanding. Simultaneously, certain games posed challenges for students with varying physical abilities or differing familiarity with cultural practices, which occasionally led to frustration or disengagement. In the context of online learning, integrating traditional games required adaptive strategies, highlighting both the potential for innovative, interactive digital activities and the limitations imposed by technological infrastructure and student readiness. These results underscore the multifaceted role of traditional games as a bridge between cultural education, mental well-being, and interdisciplinary learning, suggesting careful selection, adaptation, and scaffolding are essential to maximize their educational value while mitigating situational challenges. Keywords: cultural awareness, mental health, online learning integration, traditional games
