Abstract

Academic procrastination poses a significant challenge to learning outcomes among adolescents, often stemming from psychological and motivational factors. This study investigates the extent to which academic self-efficacy and academic self-esteem simultaneously predict academic procrastination in students. A quantitative approach was employed, using multiple linear regression, to examine the predictive power of both variables. The participants consisted of 220 eighth-grade students from State Junior High School 4 Purworejo. Data were collected using three instruments: an academic procrastination scale, an academic self-efficacy scale, and an academic self-esteem scale. The results revealed that academic self-efficacy and academic self-esteem together significantly predicted academic procrastination (p < 0.001), accounting for 50.9% of its variance (R² = 0.509). These findings underscore the importance of fostering students’ academic self-efficacy and self-esteem to reduce procrastination and enhance academic performance. Keywords: academic self-efficacy, academic self-esteem, academic procrastination

Abstract

Mental health has become an increasingly primary global concern. The Qur’an, as a divine revelation, holds significant potential to influence human psychology. Numerous studies indicate that reading the Qur’an can positively contribute to mental well-being. Among its many aspects, Qur’anic stories play a central role in shaping psychological stability and fostering social harmony. This study employs a qualitative design using secondary data. Relevant articles and books were collected from Google Scholar and analyzed thematically through psychological and Qur’anic perspectives. The findings reveal that Qur’anic stories promote psychological well-being and social harmony by integrating the processes of learning, teaching, and preaching. These processes strengthen both intrapersonal and interpersonal phases of human development. This mechanism reflects the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) emphasis on ‘allama al-Qur’an (learning the Qur’an, intrapersonal) and ta’allama al-Qur’an (teaching and preaching the Qur’an, interpersonal). Through these two phases, communities are encouraged to mitigate and reduce mental health challenges, ultimately supporting individual and collective well-being. Keywords: qur’anic stories, mental health, psychological well-being, social harmony, intrapersonal and interpersonal development

Abstract

The study examines teachers' professional identity by gender and teaching age using an explanatory survey with 196 participants from South Korea and Indonesia. Using a 25-item Likert scale, four dimensions were measured: job satisfaction, work commitment, motivation, and self-efficacy. Multivariate analyses showed no significant overall difference in professional identity between teachers from the two countries. However, South Korean teachers reported lower job satisfaction but higher self-efficacy compared to Indonesian peers. Gender did not influence professional identity overall, though male teachers in both countries tended to have higher job satisfaction than females. No interaction was found between country and gender. Teaching age did not generally affect professional identity, but an interaction effect with country was observed for self-efficacy: South Korean teachers showed a convex pattern across three teaching age categories, whereas Indonesian teachers showed a concave pattern, consistently lower than South Korean counterparts. These findings highlight cross-national differences in components of professional identity and suggest implications for theory and practice in teacher professional development, emphasizing the need to consider cultural and experiential factors in identity formation. This contributes to understanding how personal and contextual variables shape teachers' professional self-concept in varying educational settings. Abstract

Despite increasing interest in traditional games as pedagogical tools, research remains limited in explaining their interdisciplinary value, their contribution to children’s social-emotional well-being, their cultural relevance, and their applicability in online learning. This study addresses these gaps by examining the use of traditional games in a private primary school in Central Java with 120 students aged 7–11. Using a mixed-methods design, it integrates survey data on engagement, stress, and cultural awareness with focus group and interview insights to capture students’ and teachers’ experiences. Findings reveal that traditional games foster a heightened sense of cultural identity and promote cooperative behavior among students, thereby improving interpersonal skills and cultural understanding. Simultaneously, certain games posed challenges for students with varying physical abilities or differing familiarity with cultural practices, which occasionally led to frustration or disengagement. In the context of online learning, integrating traditional games required adaptive strategies, highlighting both the potential for innovative, interactive digital activities and the limitations imposed by technological infrastructure and student readiness. These results underscore the multifaceted role of traditional games as a bridge between cultural education, mental well-being, and interdisciplinary learning, suggesting careful selection, adaptation, and scaffolding are essential to maximize their educational value while mitigating situational challenges. Abstract

One of the most persistent challenges in supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) is the level of awareness and acceptance among parents of Typically Developing Children (TDC). Limited understanding of inclusive education often contributes to stigma, resistance, and reduced collaboration between schools and families. This study examined the effectiveness of psychoeducational posters and leaflets in improving TDC parents’ comprehension of inclusive education. Using a quasi-experimental pre–post design, fourteen TDC parents participated and completed the Inclusive Education Comprehension Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test due to the small sample size and non-parametric distribution. Results showed a statistically significant increase in parents’ understanding after receiving psychoeducation materials. Parents reported clearer knowledge about the purpose, benefits, and implementation of inclusive education, indicating that visually delivered, indirect psychoeducation remains effective even in the digital era. These findings suggest that poster- and leaflet-based psychoeducation can serve as a practical and scalable strategy for schools and educators to promote greater acceptance toward children with SEN. However, to achieve more sustainable, more profound behavioral change, future interventions should combine indirect media with direct psychoeducational activities, such as workshops or guided discussions, particularly for parents with limited reading motivation or literacy challenges. Abstract

At present, the mental toughness construct is attracting increasing attention as a measure of a person's resilience in facing pressure. One of the initiators of the mental toughness construct was Gucciardi and his team in 2015, who based it on existing mental toughness theories. This study was conducted to develop the mental toughness construct developed by Gucciardi and his team in the Indonesian context. This study was conducted using a quantitative method, with data collected via a questionnaire. A total of 114 people (87.7% women), with an average age of 22 years, who are currently studying at college, participated in this study. The collected data were analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Based on the CFA analysis, CFI = 0.956 and RMSEA = 0.071, indicating a mental toughness construct with a total of 8 good- and fit items in Indonesian. In addition, all the construct items are reliable, as the Cronbach’s alpha is 0.786 (≥ 0.70). It can be concluded that the Indonesian adaptation of the one-factor MT-8 model is a psychometrically sound and suitable instrument for evaluating mental toughness. Abstract

Marital instability often leads to dissatisfaction and may result in divorce. In Indonesia, around 400,000 divorces occur annually, reflecting persistent marital dissatisfaction. This study aims to identify research gaps in the study of marital satisfaction within Indonesian psychology literature from 2019 to 2024. Using a qualitative descriptive method, the study conducted a systematic content analysis of 101 journal articles retrieved via Google Scholar using Publish or Perish 8. Results show a generally increasing trend in research despite a temporary decline in publication numbers. Most studies employed quantitative methods (76.53%), correlational designs (72.37%), and focused on variables such as religiosity (12.36%). The most frequently used instrument was the ENRICH Marital Satisfaction scale (32.61%), with correlation analysis as the dominant statistical method (31.07%). The results of this study highlight prevailing trends in existing research and identify several areas requiring further investigation to enhance understanding of marital satisfaction in Indonesia. Abstract

This study conducted a bibliometric analysis to map the global research landscape on cyberbullying in the context of guidance and counseling. A total of 195 scientific papers indexed by Scopus from 2015 to 2025 were analyzed quantitatively using RStudio (Bibliometrix) and VOSviewer. The analysis showed a significant increase in scientific productivity, with the United States, Spain, and Turkey as the main contributors. Most publications (78%) use quantitative methods and focus on adolescent populations (63%). The thematic evolution analysis revealed a shift in research focus from behavioral identification towards preventive interventions, detection systems, counseling, and the use of technology such as machine learning. The article by Radovic et al. (2016) received the highest number of citations (223). Developing thematic areas emphasize mental health, digital identity, and technology-based counseling strategies. The implications of this study highlight the urgency of developing adaptive, evidence-based digital counseling policies and integrating digital literacy into prevention programs. Keywords: cyberbullying, guidance and counseling, bibliometric analysis, research map, digital intervention

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the reasons, commitment and meaning of grandparenting in families caring for grandchildren with ASD aged 2-6 years. This study used a qualitative, phenomenological approach. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with seven primary caregivers of children with ASD. They were analysed using content analysis and therapeutic and occupational science frameworks to reveal patterns of caregiving, adaptation, and subjective meaning. This study resulted in three main themes being identified: 1) motivational reasons for becoming the primary caregiver, which included a sense of responsibility to the family and concern for the child’s safety and well-being; 2) the forms of caregiving work commitments undertaken by grandparents, including time management, adjustments to parenting strategies, and handling behaviours typical of ASD; and 3) the meaning of the emotional dimension of this role, which was characterised by long-term commitment, a sense of moral responsibility, and a deep bond of affection. Keywords: grandparenting, autism spectrum disorder, parenting, phenomenology

Abstract

This study explores the complex emotional dynamics and grieving process experienced by a woman following an induced abortion, utilizing Kübler-Ross’s five-stage grief model (denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance) as a theoretical framework. A qualitative narrative approach was employed, with data collected through an in-depth, semi-structured online interview with a 20-year-old participant who underwent an abortion at age 18. Non-participant observation of non-verbal cues supplemented the interview data. Thematic analysis was conducted to map the subject’s experiences onto the stages of grief. Findings confirm that the participant navigated all five stages of grief, though in a non-linear and highly individual sequence. The depression stage was notably prolonged, while the eventual movement toward acceptance was significantly facilitated by entering a new, supportive romantic relationship, which provided a crucial "safe space." The experience was compounded by feelings of isolation, stigmatization, and a lack of adequate social support from her partner at the time of the procedure. The study underscores that abortion, particularly under stressful conditions, constitutes a significant psychological loss that can trigger a profound grieving process. Recommendations include integrating psychosocial education into reproductive health programs and conducting further comparative research on the experiences following legal versus illegal procedures. Keywords: abortion, grief, Kübler-Ross, qualitative research, psychological impact
