Abstract

Pesantren, as Islamic educational institutions, play a significant role in the empowerment of women, particularly in promoting gender equality through education based on religious values. However, there is still a prevailing perception that pesantren tend to uphold patriarchal values that limit women's mobility and participation in various aspects of life. The inconsistency between the principles of justice in Islam and the social practices in some pesantren raises questions about the extent to which these institutions can serve as inclusive and progressive spaces for promoting women's empowerment. This article aims to examine the role of pesantren in empowering women using a literature review approach. The findings indicate that pesantren are capable of transforming into agents of change that support gender-equitable development through inclusive curricula, the strengthening of female leadership roles, and the development of economic skills. These findings underscore the need for internal reform within pesantren so that Islamic values not only provide spiritual education but also promote social justice for women.

Abstract

One of the main challenges in teaching Aqidah Akhlak at MANU Putri Buntet Pesantren is the low level of student participation and lack of discipline in following the learning process. This condition negatively affects students’ understanding of the subject matter, which plays an essential role in shaping their character and moral values. The primary cause of this issue is the use of monotonous teaching methods that fail to actively engage students. As a solution, the Jigsaw method is implemented to encourage active student participation through a cooperative learning approach, where students work in groups, interact with one another, and take responsibility for understanding the material. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach to describe the implementation of the Jigsaw method in Aqidah Akhlak learning and to analyze its impact on student participation and comprehension. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving students from classes X.1, X.2, and X.3, as well as the subject teacher at MA NU Putri Buntet Pesantren. The research was conducted in four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection, with data analyzed through reductive and descriptive techniques to provide a comprehensive picture of the Jigsaw method’s effectiveness. The findings indicate that the Jigsaw method enhances student participation through group discussions, role assignments, and presentations of their understanding. Furthermore, students' comprehension of Aqidah Akhlak improved alongside increased interaction and a stronger sense of responsibility during the learning process. Thus, the Jigsaw method can serve as an effective alternative for teachers to foster a more interactive, collaborative, and meaningful classroom learning environment.

Abstract

Pesantren 4.0: Dekonstruksi atas Hibridisasi Pedagogi Islam dan Ketahanan Epistemologis di Tengah Ekosistem Digital merupakan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi respons pesantren terhadap perkembangan teknologi digital, sembari menjaga struktur epistemologis Islam. Penelitian ini mengidentifikasi lima subtema utama, yaitu bentuk digitalisasi pendidikan pesantren, ketahanan epistemologis, model hibridisasi pedagogi Islam dan teknologi digital, tantangan dan risiko epistemologis dari digitalisasi, serta implikasi teoretis dan konseptual dari temuan ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pesantren telah memanfaatkan teknologi digital dalam pembelajaran melalui aplikasi kitab kuning digital, platform e-learning, dan media sosial, namun tetap mempertahankan metode tradisional seperti sorogan dan bandongan. Ketahanan epistemologis pesantren dijaga melalui pengawasan kiai, kurasi konten keislaman, serta pembatasan akses terhadap sumber yang tidak otoritatif. Model hibridisasi pedagogi yang diterapkan pesantren melibatkan pembelajaran campuran, menggabungkan mata pelajaran umum dengan pengajaran kitab klasik secara tradisional. Meskipun digitalisasi memberikan peluang besar, tantangan seperti risiko pemahaman instan dan penurunan interaksi langsung antara kiai dan santri tetap dihadapi. Temuan ini memberikan kontribusi terhadap pengembangan konsep pedagogi Islam digital yang mempertahankan nilai-nilai etika dan identitas keislaman dalam era digital. Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan yaitu; 1) Implementasi Integrasi ketiga jenis kurikulum tersebut dalam proses pembelajaran di pesantren 2) strategi pelaksanaan integrasi ketiga jenis kurikulum tersebut dalam proses pembelajaran di pesantren 3) Dampak integrasi kurikulum terhadap kualitas lulusan pesantren dalam menghadapi tantangan global dan kebutuhan masyarakat, 4) Tantangan dan hambatan yang dihadapi dalam mengintegrasikan kurikulum Salafiyah, Gontor, dan umum, dan bagaimana solusi yang diterapkan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan sumber data diperoleh dari Ketua Yayasan, Kepala bagian Kurikulum, ustadz ustadzah, Para santri dan Alumni Jenis penelitian ini adalah studi kasus . Analisis data yang digunakan yaitu pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan/verifikasi. Teknik pengumpulan data yaitu observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah Manajemen Kurikulum Pesantren : Integrasi Antara Kurikulum Salafiyah, Gontor dan Umum, Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa : 1) Dalam Pengimplementasian 3 kurikulum di pesantren condong, seluruh kegiatan belajar mengajar (KBM) dilaksanakan dalam sistem asrama (boarding school) selama 24 jam, Pembelajaran dilaksanakan dari pagi-sore dimana bukan hanya umum saja tapi dicampur dengan pelajaran gontor dan salafiyah, selain itu diluar jam sekolah juga ada kegiatan yang mendukung seperti kegiatan ekstrakulikuler, muhadzoroh, mudzakaroh, mufrodzah, bandongan, sorogan dan lain sebagainya. 2) Strategi pelaksanaan integrasi ketiga jenis kurikulum tersebut dalam proses pembelajaran di pesantren Condong yakni (a) penggabungan nilai PANCA JIWA dan PANCA JANGKA, (b) mengadakan pelatihan, bimbingan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi para guru, (c) mengadakan evaluasi/supervisi setiap bulan, (d) Pembuatan RPP yang baik dan benar, (e) mengadakan kumpulan setiap minggu dala rangka evaluasi, (f) memberikan reward kepada guru. 3) Dampak integrasi kurikulum terhadap kualitas lulusan pesantren dalam menghadapi tantangan global dan kebutuhan masyarakat yakni : (a) menghasilkan lulusan yang memiliki kompetensi agama yang kuat, (b) lulusannya mampu bersaing di era globalisasi, (c) keterampilan bahasa asingdan kepemimpinannya sangat kental/sangat baik sekali, (d) mampu menjadi Da’i / Ustad-ustadzah, (e) banyak alumni yang melanjutkan pendidikannya ke Perguruan Tinggi Ternama di Indonesia dan Perguruan Tinggu Luar negeri, (f) mampu dan siap bersaing di dunia kerja. 4) Tantangan dan hambatan yang dihadapi dalam mengintegrasikan kurikulum Salafiyah, Gontor, dan umum, dan bagaimana solusi yang diterapkan yakni : santri baru merasa terbebani dan belum bisa adaptasi dengan adanya integrasi tiga kurikulum ini Salah satu solusi yang digunakan yakni setelah sholat isya sampai jam 22.00 WIB anak2 diberi waktu untuk belajar bersama yng dinamakan Mudzakaroh yakni mempelajari pelajaran yang belum dipahami ataupun mengerjakan tugas dengan dibimbing oleh walikelas masingmasing. Selain dari itu solusinya yakni para guru juga tidak sungkan untuk memberikan penjelasn ulang kepada santri yang belum mengerti. Kata Kunci : Strategi, Integrasi, Kurikulum, Pesantren

Abstract

Although Problem-Based Learning (PBL) has been proven effective in improving critical thinking and problem-solving skills, its application in Islamic Religious Education (IRE) at the senior high school level has rarely been studied. IRE learning tends to be passive and theoretical. As a result, students are unable to relate religious values to real-life issues, making learning less contextual and transformative. This study aims to explore in depth the application of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in building conceptual understanding and developing critical thinking skills of students in Islamic Religious Education (IRE) at SMA Negeri 1 Leles, Garut. Through a case study approach, data was collected through semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis, involving PAI teachers, the school principal, and students as key participants. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of PBL enhances students' active participation, encourages critical discussion, and connects learning materials with current issues. Teachers reported an improved collaborative and dynamic classroom atmosphere, while students acknowledged gaining a deeper understanding of Islamic values. This study highlights the potential of PBL as a pedagogical approach aligned with the objectives of PAI, namely fostering reflective thinking and building a moral foundation. However, successful implementation of PBL requires institutional support, professional training for teachers, and availability of resources. This study provides initial insights and opens opportunities for further large-scale and longitudinal research.

Abstract

Ulumul Hadis is a fundamental discipline within Islamic studies and serves as a core course at State Islamic Higer Education Institutions (PTKIN), including UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. Despite its importance, the course is often perceived as difficult and less appealing to students. This study aims to examine the perception level of students in the Early Childhood Islamic Education (PIAUD) program toward the Ulumul Hadis course and to identify the internal dan external factors influencing it. The study employed a quantitative approach with an explanatory design, involving 73 second-semester students ffrom a total population of 89. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression. The findings indicate that students generally hold a positive perception of the Ulumul Hadis course, with an average score of 19,589 out of a maximum of 25,00. Regression analysis revealed that internal factors such as motivation and prior understanding were more dominant (B=2,236) than external ones (B=1,673). These findings suggest that students’ internal readiness plays a crucial role in shaping positive perceptions. This study contributes to curriculum development and instructional strategies, particularly in aligning Islamic studies content with the context of early childhood education.

Abstract

This study examines leadership styles in financial management at the Attarbiyatul Wathoniyah Islamic Boarding School (PATWA) Mertapada, Cirebon Regency. The main focus is how the leadership style of the boarding school leaders influences the financial management of the boarding school which includes budget planning, transaction recording, and business unit management. The method used is a case study with data collection through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that transformational leadership style combined with charismatic leadership is the key to success in creating emotional involvement and high commitment of administrators in managing finances in a trustworthy and responsible manner. This leadership builds an organizational culture that upholds the values ​​of sincerity, responsibility, and transparency, although the financial recording system is still manual and minimally digitized. Elements of transactional leadership are also present through the provision of incentives to business unit administrators who succeed in achieving targets, which increases motivation and efficiency. However, high dependence on the main leadership figure is a challenge for the sustainability of the boarding school's financial management. Therefore, strengthening the documentation system and leadership cadreship are important recommendations so that the boarding school's financial management can run professionally and sustainably.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate a conceptual framework for integrating the values of monotheism and the eco-pedagogical approach into the curriculum of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI). Monotheism as a spiritual foundation and eco-pedagogy as a participatory approach are considered relevant in addressing the challenges of character education and the global ecological crisis. The method used is a literature review with a qualitative approach, involving analysis of scientific articles, academic books, and educational policy documents related to Islamic character education and environmental awareness. Content analysis techniques were used to identify key concepts, gaps in the literature, and the potential for integration between the two approaches. The analysis revealed that environment education based on monotheistic values can strengthen students' spiritual awareness of ecological responsibility, while the application of eco-pedagogical principles can provide deep contextual learning experiences. The synergy between the two is believed to shape students' character to be not only religious but also caring and taking concrete action towards the environment. However, this study has limitations as it is theoretical and does not include field implementation testing. Further empirical research is highly recommended to test the effectiveness of the proposed curriculum model. This study is expected to contribute conceptually to the development of a holistic and sustainable MI curriculum

Abstract

This study examines the integration of the entrepreneurship curriculum at Pondok Darul Hijrah Buntet Pesantren Cirebon as an effort to produce santripreneurs*, driven by the need to transform pesantren into centers for student economic empowerment. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and questionnaires involving leaders, teachers, business unit managers, and 60 final-year students, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The findings indicate both intracurricular integration through entrepreneurship subjects and extracurricular integration through practical business activities; 82% of students reported improved practical skills, and 65% expressed interest in starting a business after graduation—indicating the program’s effectiveness in fostering motivation and entrepreneurial readiness. These results affirm that the entrepreneurship curriculum effectively shapes santripreneurs and can serve as a sustainable model for Islamic-based economic education.

Abstract

Religious moderation (wasathiyyah) is increasingly promoted as a counter-narrative to radicalism in pluralistic societies, yet its potential as a theoretical foundation for early detection frameworks in education remains underexplored. This study adopts a conceptual synthesis approach to integrate insights from religious studies, education, and counter-radicalization literature to theorize how moderation values can inform and enhance anticipatory models of radicalization in schools and universities. Through purposive literature selection and thematic coding, four interrelated themes were identified: (1) the foundational values of religious moderation, (2) early indicators of radicalization, (3) the design of moderation-informed detection instruments, and (4) the role of educational institutions as cultivators and detectors of ideological orientation. Visual models were developed to map the conceptual relationships between moderation values, radical indicators, measurement strategies, and institutional mechanisms. The findings suggest that moderation principles such as tawassuth, tasamuh, and i’tidal can be operationalized not only as preventive ethics but also as analytical tools for interpreting ideological shifts before they manifest behaviorally. This study advances a value-sensitive and education-centered framework for early detection, offering a culturally grounded alternative to securitized models. It concludes by recommending future empirical research to validate and adapt the proposed framework in diverse educational contexts, particularly within Muslim-majority settings.
