Abstract

Vocational students are prepared to work in certain positions through a curriculum in which its learning materials consist of 30% theory and 70% skill. It makes their mindset more concerned with skill-based subjects, not motivated to study the material theoretically, and reluctant to take knowledge-based tests. Knowledge is an important aspect for understanding, reasoning, and leading to rational actions when practicing. There is a need for the appropriate measuring tool for diagnosing the knowledge of vocational students in mapping knowledge so that it can be used to provide improved learning services in vocational high schools. The Rasch model is a modern evaluation tool using probability responses to items in a distribution map, so that the characteristics of vocational students in answering questions can be evaluated, starting from the level of students' abilities, distribution maps of ability and difficulty items, as well as a map of the distribution of answers that reflects their honesty. The research was conducted at the Motorcycle Engineering and Business Skills Competency Program (TBSM) of SMKN 1 Kalianget on the subject of Electrical System Maintenance, on the theme of Ignition System Maintenance, with 49 respondents. The instrument was 30 items of a multiple-choice test which was developed according to the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 23 of 2017 and the second Level of the Qualification Certification Scheme on TBSM Competence from BNSP 2017. The test result shows that instruments have good quality, by fulfilling the elements of reliability, validity (MNSQ outfit and ZSTD outfit, DIF item, unidimensional test), separation, and item difficulty level. Students’ knowledge ability is in the high category (44.9%), medium (44.94%), low as well as very low (only 8.16%). The results of Wright Map depict respondents’ opportunity to answer correctly by 57.14%. Based on the Guttman matrix scalogram, the percentage of careless students is just 2.04%, but that of students guessed the answers correctly is 12.24%

Abstract

Air pollution due to motor vehicle exhaust emissions is increased. Polluted air harms human health dan the environment. Consequently, it is essential to make a sustained effort to reduce air pollution. The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of adding aluminum scrap to the exhaust system of a motor vehicle on gas emissions composition. The motor vehicle exhaust system was modified to accommodate aluminum scrap placement. A gas analyzer was utilized to observe exhaust gas composition, such as carbon dioxide, hydrocarbon, and carbon monoxide.  Aluminum scrap with different masses was wrapped around the exhaust's inner tube in 50 gr, 70 gr and 90 gr. The engine speed was maintained at 500 rpm throughout the testing process. It was found that the temperature of the outer exhaust tube is in a range of 40 degrees Celsius to 50 degrees Celsius. The results revealed that the most appropriate amount of aluminum scrap was 90 gr n to reduce carbon monoxide, hydrocarbon, and carbon dioxide in an exhausts gas. The surprising outcome was 76.78 % of carbon monoxide content declined, and furthermore hydrocarbon, and carbon dioxide content were deteriorated by 61.63% and 78.37%, respectively.

Abstract

The implementation of Merdeka Belajar (MB) brings fundamental changes to Vocational High Schools (VHS). The MB curriculum that is implemented needs to be approached with a deep understanding of the concepts and processes. Thus, many factors influence its implementation. This research aims to analyze the factors in implementing independent learning in vocational schools. This research uses a qualitative approach with a multi-case study at two Public Vocational High Schools (PVHS) in Blitar through in-depth interviews supported by observation and documentation. The research results show that the independent curriculum implemented in PVHS has obstacles in the form of teacher misconceptions and difficulties in synchronizing the curriculum in Light Vehicle Engineering (LVE) with industry. The learning model used in LVE subjects to train students to work independently is PjBL. Meanwhile, guest teachers from industries are invited to provide training and insight to teachers and students. Furthermore, internships are carried out in LVE workshops and industry. Meanwhile, student competency tests are carried out involving the career center and school certification. LVE learning technology updates and graduate absorption also influence this. In conclusion, the implementation of the MB curriculum at VHS is determined by teacher awareness and leadership strategy choices.

Abstract

The impact of the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID 19) affects all people in the world. One of the efforts by the Indonesian government to reduce the spread of the virus is by implementing Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB). The impact of the PSBB can be felt directly by the community in various sectors. The existence of regulations regarding restrictions on large-scale social activities (PSBB) has resulted in a decrease in activity in all fields, one of which is tourism in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The positive side that can be drawn from social restriction regulations is the potential for reducing pollutants that pollute urban air caused by human activities. This study analyzes data from air quality testing results in the City of Yogyakarta from the Ministry of Environment (KLH) and the number of tourists visiting Yogyakarta from the Yogyakarta City Tourism Office in 2019 to 2020. Based on data obtained from the Yogyakarta City Tourism Office from 2019 to 2019 2020 saw an average decrease in tourist visits by 70% at three tourist sites in the city of Yogyakarta, namely: the Yogyakarta Palace, Taman Pintar, and the Vredeburg Museum. Based on data obtained from the Yogyakarta Special Region Tourism Statistics Report for 2019 and 2020, there has been an average decrease in tourist visits by 71% at ten tourist sites in the City of Yogyakarta. The decrease in tourist visits affects the air quality in the Yogyakarta City environment. This can be proven by improving the quality of ambient air in the City of Yogyakarta in 2020. Reducing the level of carbon monoxide (CO) in the air in the city of Yogyakarta by 12.5%.

Abstract

The piston is an essential component in the internal combustion system. Unfortunately, most piston products on the market are of low quality, which is detrimental to consumers. Most pistons sold in spare parts shops in Medan City have varying prices and different quality. The study compares four manufacturers' chemical composition, microstructure and hardness of the pistons of 4-stroke motorcycles. The four types of pistons were purchased at an automotive component sales shop in Medan city. The pistons were cut by machine and then analyzed for chemical composition, microstructure and hardness. The research results show that the chemical composition of the four-piston manufacturers is almost similar, where the silicon content ranges from 2-3%, which is a hypoeutectic Al-Si aluminium alloy. Interestingly, the hardness values and microstructure of pistons are different. The hardness value for brand X is the highest compared to other products, at 41.16 VHN. Microstructural observations show that the microstructures of manufacturers W, X and Y are similar, where the Si particles are evenly distributed with almost uniform sizes. Meanwhile, the Z manufacturer shows a microstructure with fibrous Si particles with a coarse SDAS size.

Abstract

Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) menjadi jembatan untuk menciptakan lulusan yang memiliki keahlian bidang tertentu yang sesuai dengan dunia usaha dan industri (DU/DI). Dalam hal ini, SMK harus mempersiapkan pembelajaran yang efektif dalam semua mata pelajaran Teknik Kendaraan Ringan (TKR) termasuk pemeliharaan kelistrikan kendaraan ringan yang menjadi inti dari pelajaran di Jurusan Teknik Kendaraan ringan. Namun demikian, pendekatan pembelajaran yang dipakai masih konvensional sehingga nilai siswa perlu ditingkatkan dan motivasi siswa juga perlu ditingkatkan. Sehubungan dengan hal tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi siswa menggunakan Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) di SMK Kediri dalam mata pelajaran pemeliharaan kelistrikan kendaraan ringan. Pada penelitian ini menerapakan metode Penelitian Tidakan Kelas (PTK) menggunakan instrument pre-tes, post-tes, catatan lapang, dan pedoman wawancara. Setelah empat pertemuan pertemuan dalam dua siklus. Hasil dalam penilitian dikatakan meningkat karena pada sisklus satu ketuntasan 75% untuk pengetahuan dan 56% untuk keterampilan menjadi naik 100%. Meningkatnya presentase dari setiap siklus dilihat dari dari rata rata siklus satu 73 untuk pengetahuan dan 73 untuk keterampilan untuk siklus dua rata rata pengetahuan dan keterampilan mendapatkan 83 sehingga melebihi batas minimal kriteria 75. Motivasi siswa juga meningkat dan persepsi siswa juga positif terhadap penerapan CTL. Hal ini dapat dipahami bahwa CTL mampu meningkatkan nilai pengetahuan, keterampilan, dan motivasis siswa dalam belajar mata pelajaran pemeliharaan kelistrikan.

Abstract

Teknologi elektronik fuel injection pada sepeda motor telah mendominasi pada pasar sepeda motor di Indonesia, Teknologi Fuel Injection dapat memberikan pengaruh signifikan terhadap performa kendaraan, sistem pengabutan injector memiliki variabel penting dalam peningkatan performa, seperti timing injection, duration injection sesuai dengan putaran dan beban pada mesin. Sistem injeksi sepeda motor khususnya pada komponen injector mengalami penurunan berdasarkan intensitas penggunaan kendaraan dan juga kualitas bahan bakar, sehingga secara berkala injector perlu mendapatkan perawatan untuk mendapatkan kinerja yang maksimal dari komponen tersebut. Kinerja Injector banyak dipengaruhi oleh kualitas bahan bakar dan tekanan bahan bakar, untuk mempertahankan kualitas bahan bakar maka ditempatkan komponen filter bahan bakar dengan fungsi untuk menyaring partikel-partikel yang terbawa oleh aliran bahan bakar masuk ke ruang bakar, injector cleaner dan injector tester berfungsi sebagai alat pembersih ultrasonic dan mengetest semprotan dan durasi semprotan injector. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan media pembelajaran elektronika otomotif dengan mendesign alat sistem elektronik berbasis arduino yang dapat bekerja membersihkan Injector dan test fungsi injector. Hasil penelitian ini adalah media sistem kelistrikan Test Injector dan pembersih injector berbasis Arduino yang dapat melakukan injeksi bahan bakar berdasarkan variasi putaran mesin dengan menggunakan potensiometer dan juga menghasilkan injeksi bahan bakar dengan durasi penyemprotan yang berbeda sehingga dalam hal ini cara kerja injector dapat terlihat berdasarkan putaran mesin dan pada saat akselerasi yaitu bukaan thortle.

Abstract

Pemanfaatan teknologi dalam industri otomotif telah memberikan dampak signifikan terhadap efisiensi mesin kendaraan. Salah satu aspek kritis dalam sistem pembakaran adalah manajemen panas pada exhaust manifold. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkarakteristikkan distribusi panas, tekanan dan kecepatan aliran gas buang pada exhaust manifolddengan variasi putaran mesin menggunakan Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Dalam penelitian ini menggunakan empat variasi putaran mesin yaitu 750 rpm, 1000 rpm, 1500 rpm dan 2000 rpm. Setiap variasi putaran mesin memiliki suhu serta kecepatan aliran gas buang yang berbeda pada setiap saluran masuknya. Putaran mesin 750 rpm menaikkan suhu material manifold buang hingga 235°C. Suhu permukaan material meningkat secara signifikan seiring dengan kecepatan mesin. Perbandingan antara profil suhu gas buang dan suhu permukaan bahan exhaust manifoldmengungkapkan hubungan erat antara aktivitas mesin dan suhu permukaan. Peningkatan suhu seiring dengan kenaikan putaran mesin mencerminkan intensifikasi aktivitas pembakaran, memiliki dampak langsung pada kestabilan suhu manifold. Analisis tekanan gas buang menyoroti peningkatan tekanan seiring dengan peningkatan putaran mesin. Lonjakan tekanan pada putaran mesin tinggi mengindikasikan intensifikasi dalam volume dan kecepatan aliran gas buang selama fase pembakaran. Profil kecepatan aliran gas buang menunjukkan peningkatan sejalan dengan pertambahan putaran mesin.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh tingkat partisipasi dalam model pembelajaran Project-based Learning terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis anggota Tim Garuda UNY. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif ex pot facto, yang dilaksanakan  di Fakultas Teknik Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. Populasi penelitian terdiri dari mahasiswa anggota Tim Garuda UNY dan alumninya yang berjumlah 243 orang. Pengambilan data menggunakan metode survei dengan angket, observasi dan studi dokumentasi dengan jumlah sampel 75 orang dan  menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Teknik analisis data yang dilakukan dengan analisis deskriptif dan uji regresi sederhana. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Pelaksanaan model pembelajaran Project-based Learning Tim Garuda UNY sesuai dengan indikator dan langkah model pembelajaran Project-based Learning. (2) Tingkat partisipasi anggota dalam mengikuti model pembelajaran Project Based Learning di Tim Garuda UNY berpengaruh  terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis anggota yang ditunjukkan dengan hasil uji T pada nilai signifikan 0,000 ˂ 0,05 dan t hitung 10,110 ˃ t tabel 1,993 dengan nilai koefisien determinasi yang didapatkan sebesar 58,3%.Kata Kunci: Partisipasi, Project-based Learning, Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis

Abstract

Vocational education, as a kind of education, has an important role not only for people to get a job but also for nations to grow their national economy. Vocational teachers, especially, are the keys to the success of vocational education, so the competencies required to become such teachers are crucial issues that need attention. This study aims to explore the most needed and recent competencies that an automotive vocational teacher needs to master to survive in career life. A Focus Group Interview (FGI) study with two main questions was used to collect data from 6 participants consisting of 3 automotive vocational teachers and three automotive industrial instructors. The interview was recorded, and the data was analyzed qualitatively. The findings stated that the ability to conduct sustainable learning or lifelong learning becomes the most essential competency that automotive vocational teachers need to have. Additionally, there is a suggestion to automotive vocational teacher education institutions to conduct instructional design of learning activities that could promote the abilities of sustainable learning for the students. This is necessary because automotive technology is developing very quickly, so vocational education should deal with that phenomenon by preparing qualified automotive vocational teacher candidates who can conduct sustainable learning or lifelong learning effectively.
