Abstract

Background: This classroom action research was motivated by the low digital literacy skills of students due to the lack of effective and quality literacy resources in schools. The aim of this research is an effort to increase students' digital literacy through the use of flipbook-based Biodiversity e-modules. Methods: This research applies the collaborative PTK method based on lesson study. This research was carried out in class X8 of SMA Negeri 9 Bogor City with 36 students. The instruments used were a digital literacy questionnaire and student response questionnaire, as well as a teacher interview format. Results: The average score obtained in Cycle I was 72.45 which increased to 81.67 in Cycle II, with the percentage of students' digital literacy skills in Cycle II being 83% of the total number of students with Very Good criteria. The average emergence of digital literacy skills in each indicator in Cycle I was in the good criteria (60 - 80) and in Cycle II there was an increase with the average showing very good criteria (81 - 100). The results of the student response questionnaire obtained scores ranging from 81 - 100 in the very good category which is in line with the positive response from teachers regarding the use of the flipbook-based Biodiversity e-module.. Conclusion: The results of all the instruments used show that there is an increase in students' digital literacy skills through the use of flipbook-based Biodiversity e-modules. Abstract

Background: Learning motivation is a state of individual willingness or enthusiasm in planning and doing something in order to achieve predetermined goals. There are two objectives of this class action research, including to find out how to increase the motivation of students in class XI IPA 5 in the biology learning process of tissue structure and function material using puzzles as learning media, and to find out the implementation of the learning process of tissue structure and function that applies puzzle learning media in class XI IPA 5. Method: This study used class action research with the research subjects, namely 31 students of class XI IPA 5 SMA Negeri 9 Bogor City. There are two cycles with 4JP x 45 minutes for each research cycle. the instruments used in this study include a learning motivation questionnaire of 30 statements and a response questionnaire containing 10 statements for puzzle learning media based on a Likert scale. Results: Based on the data obtained regarding learning motivation by applying puzzle learning media, it is known that the average value of student motivation at the pre-cycle stage is 67%, the average value at the first cycle stage is 73%, and at the second cycle stage is 75%. The three average values are in the "high" category, besides that this figure also shows a significant increase in student motivation. The average value of the response questionnaire shown is 70% with the description "practical". Conclusion:  There is a significant increase in learning motivation in students in learning the structure and function of tissues with puzzles that are practical to use as learning media Keywords : Motivation to Learn; Learning media; Puzzle

Abstract

Background: Social discrimination based on a person's ethnic and cultural background still often occurs in Indonesia, this is due to feelings of superiority as someone with a better background. There is a need to introduce culture and ethnicity through classroom learning, and low student learning outcomes are often found in cell material because this material is an abstract concept for students. Methods: Data collection uses test and non-test instruments, test instruments in the form of multiple choice questions and non-test instruments through response questionnaires. The data obtained was then analyzed using the Microsoft-Excel application. Results: Based on the data analysis that has been carried out, student learning outcomes increase and the N-gain value in cycle 1 is 79.36 and in cycle 2 is 89.39 with effective criteria. The student response questionnaire analyzed in cycle 1 as a whole had good criteria and in cycle 2 as a whole had very good criteria. Conclusion: The application of the inkuiri terbimbing model using PASAGI media can effectively improve student learning outcomes. Keywords : guided inquiry; PASAGI; learning outcomes

Abstract

Background: LKPD used is still in printed form and is not yet varied so that students' problem solving abilities are not optimal. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of PBL-based E-LKPD on students' problem-solving abilities at MAN 1 Indramayu. Method: This research is a quantitative research with the research design True Experimental Post-test only control design. Population in this study were all students of class X IPA MAN 1 Indramayu with a sample of class X IPA 3 as the control class and class X IPA 2 as the experimental class. Sampling technique in this study was taken using the Cluster Sampling technique. Data were collected by problem solving techniques and observation tests. Test instrument in this study was a description to measure students' problem-solving abilities. The observation sheet instrument contains problem solving indicators, PBL learning syntax, student activities, constraints, and descriptions.. Results:  Data analysis techniques using the t-test (Independent Sample T-test). Independent Sample T-test showed sig. (2-tailed) < 0.05, thus proving that there is a significant difference in the average increase in students' problem solving abilities between the experimental class and the control class.  Conclusion:  Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that there is an effect of using PBL-based E-LKPD on students' problem-solving abilities. Abstract

Background: Activities that occur in the classroom during the Biology learning process are generally still teacher centered which places the teacher as the only source of information and only as a transfer of knowledge from teacher to student. This study aims to analyze the relationship between concept mastery and problem solving ability through problem-based learning model in Biology subject. The subjects in this study were students of SMA Negeri 4 Kota Sukabumi class XI IPA 3 with a total of 30 people in the even semester of the 2012/2013 academic year. Method: This study used correlational method with bivariate correlation research design. To capture aspects of students' concept mastery and problem-solving skills, instruments were used in the form of concept mastery tests and problem-solving skills tests in the form of multiple choice and student response questionnaires to the problem-based learning model to support the research results. Results: It can be seen from the results of testing the correlation Rhitung of 0.687> Rtabel (0.05) of 0.361 and the results of testing the significance of the correlation index Thitung of 7.217> Ttabel (0.05) of 2.048 with a coefficient of determination of 46.24. Conclusion: There is a positive and significant relationship between concept mastery and problem solving ability through problem-based learning model. Abstract

Background: This research is entitled The Effect of Cooperative Script Metacognitive Learning Model (CSM) on Students' Cognitive Ability at SMAN 1 Cibadak. Thesis, Department of Biology Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Muhammadiyah Sukabumi, 2013. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the application of the CSM learning model on students' cognitive abilities. Methods: The method used in this research was quasi-experimental method with research design of Nonequivalent Control Group Design. This research was conducted at SMAN 1 Cibadak in the academic year 2012/2013. Sampling technique in this study used purposive sampling. Two classes from seven classes of X grade students. One class received learning with CSM model as the experimental group and one class received learning with Cooperative Learning model as the control class. The research subjects totaled 75 students, 38 students in the experimental class and 37 students in the control class. The instrument used to collect data in this study was a multiple choice test in accordance with the cognitive indicators of biology on environmental pollution material. Results: The results of this study indicate that the CSM learning model has an effect on students' cognitive abilities significantly, seen from hypothesis testing using t-test calculations, obtained tcount = 3.83 and ttable of 1.99 with a significance level (α) = 0.05 and degrees of freedom 73. Because tcount> ttable, so H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Conclusion: Based on the results of the analysis of the difference in the average score of student learning outcomes at each cognitive level, it shows that the application of the CSM learning model has a significant effect on students' cognitive abilities. Abstract

Background: In class X at SMA Negeri 3 Sukabumi City, research has been done on how integrating an environmental-based inquiry learning approach affects students' cognitive capacities and environmental concern around the notion of air pollution. The purpose of this study is to: (1) ascertain how the environmental-based inquiry learning paradigm affects students' environmental consciousness and cognitive capacities. (2) to ascertain how the environmental-based inquiry learning paradigm was received by the students. Research of this kind is quasi-experimental. All SMA Negeri 3 Sukabumi City class X pupils made up the study's population. Two sixty-six-student classes were selected as samples, one of which served as the experimental class and the other as the control class. Class X IPA has as many as 33 students as the experimental class using the environment-based inquiry learning model, while class X IPA has as many as 33 students as the control class using the STAD-type cooperative learning model with a nonrandom sampling technique, namely, purposive sampling. Methods: The analysis technique used is a non-parametric test, namely the Wilcoxon test for analyzing pretest and posttest data, and a parametric test, namely the t test for analyzing student concern for the environment questionnaire data. Results: The results of the study with α = 0.05% and 95% confidence level showed: (1) the environment-based inquiry learning model does not affect students' cognitive abilities with Whitung =188.5 > Wtabel (0.05)(33) =170. (2) The environment-based inquiry learning model does not affect students' concern for the environment, with tcount = 0.72 < ttable (0.975)(64) =1.9987. (3) Student responses in the experimental class showed a positive response to the environment-based inquiry model. Based on the research as a whole, it can be concluded that the environment-based inquiry learning model does not affect students' cognitive abilities or students' concern for the environment, but shows a positive response to the environment-based inquiry learning model applied to the experimental class. Abstract

Background: Environmental literacy is an important and interesting issue to explore considering the lack of literature discussing this issue.This study aims to analyze the environmental literacy skills of junior high school (SMP) and Islamic junior high school (MTs) students in Batu city. A descriptive quantitative approach was used, with data collected through a google-form-based questionare completed by 1,291 students from six purposively selected schools. The independent variabels in this study are school status (Adiwiyata and non-Adiwiyata) and students gender, while the dependent variabel is environmental literacy skills. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, a normality test, and the non-parametric Mann-Whitney test. The results show taht, in general students environmental literacy levels fall into the “very high” category, with an average score of 112.69. There are significant differences in environmental literacy skills based on school type and gender. Female students tend to have higher environmental literacy scores than male students and non-Adiwiyata schools showed slightly higher scores compared to Adiwiyata schools. The findings indicate that both schools type and gender have an influence on students environmental literacy outcomes, and the responses provided by the students are generally categorized as “Excellent”.

Abstract

Background: Based on field findings and previous studies, the utilization of digital learning media such as quizizz in instructional design remains suboptimal, particularly within innovative learning models like Problem-Based Learning (PBL). Quizizz has primarily been used as an assessment tool rather than being integrated as an essential component of the instructional process. This study aims to examine the practicality of using quizizz within a PBL-based instructional design for the topic of membrane transport in high school biology. Methods: The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the 4-D model, limited to the develop stage, which focuses on evaluating product practicality. A limited-scale trial was conducted involving 34 grade XI students and one teacher at SMA Negeri 2 Mranggen. A practicality perception questionnaire was used as the research instrument. Results: Quizizz integrated into PBL instructional design was perceived as practical by students, with an average score of 77.72%, and by the teacher, with an average score of 72.50%.  Conclusion: These findings indicate that quizizz is a practical tool for use in PBL-based instructional design, particularly for teaching membrane transport in high school biology classes.

Abstract

Background: Student activity and their achievement in science teaching in junior high school are still declining, which causes them to fail in learning. Methods: . This study employs problem-based learning (PBL) to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes, particularly regarding the material on the digestive system. A total of 30 grade VIII students from one of the Islamic junior high schools in the Manokwari city area participated in the teaching. The study began with planning learning, actions, and observations, and ended with reflection in each cycle. We conducted the study in two cycles. Results: The findings of the study indicated that student activity increased by 5%, where in cycle I it was 95% and in cycle II it reached 100%. From cycle I to II, the percentage of student learning outcomes increased by 43.34%. Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the implementation of PBL can enhance the learning outcomes and activities of students in class VIIIA of junior high school regarding the human digestive system.
