Abstract

Purpose - Many people do not know the potential that the Waluran Village area has. So, this service aims to provide education to the public regarding the potential of family medicinal plants (TOGA) through the conservation of medicinal plants. Design/methodology/approach - The service methods used are socialization, education, formation of medicinal plant conservation groups, and training. Finding - The results of the service showed that 50 types of medicinal plants were obtained from the exploration of medicinal plants, with the superior local plant in the target village being the leaves of karas bone (Chlorantus elatior). Originality/value - The local community also responded well, that this activity really helped the problems that occurred in their area.

Abstract

Purpose – The purpose of this community service initiative is to provide comprehensive productivity enhancement training specifically tailored for HR managers working in various companies. This training aims to equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to improve productivity within their respective organizations. Design/methodology/approach – The training program utilizes a multifaceted approach, combining traditional lecture-based teaching, case method studies, and project-based learning. It spans over a 5-day period and took place at the Balai Besar Pelatihan Vokasi dan Produktivitas (BBPVP) Medan in August 2022. The training encompasses various modules, including an introductory session on productivity, planning, organizational strategies, and methods for analyzing and enhancing productivity. To assess the effectiveness of the training, participants undergo pre-test and post-test evaluations to measure the extent of their knowledge enhancement. Findings – The evaluation results reveal a noteworthy improvement in participants' comprehension and proficiency in enhancing productivity within their workplace environments. This indicates that the diverse and interactive training methods employed in the program directly contribute to enhancing productivity-related skills among HR managers. Originality/value – This community service initiative holds significant value as it addresses a specific and critical need for HR managers in various companies. By offering specialized training in productivity enhancement, it equips participants with valuable skills that can positively impact their organizations. Additionally, the use of diverse training methods ensures engagement and effective learning. Despite time constraints and potential challenges, this initiative has the potential to drive meaningful change and serve as a model for future community-focused training programs.

Abstract

Purpose – The aim of this activity is to provide teachers with an overview of how to make a PTK and how to compile a PTK in the form of a scientific article. Design/methodology/approach – Service activities in the form of classroom Action Research (PTK) writing workshops were carried out at SMP Negeri 2 Majene. The implementation of PTK writing uses the blended learning method, which combines two types of methods, namely training carried out face-to-face with participants and training held online. The blended learning method was chosen to provide diverse training and adapt to the needs of teachers. It is hoped that this workshop can improve teachers' skills in writing PTK and help improve teacher professionalism. Findings – The results obtained, namely the evaluation before and after the activity, contained very significant differences. Before the activity, there were no participants who answered that they really knew for each question and most of the participants answered that they didn't know and very don't know, whereas after the activity there were no participants who answered that they didn't know and really didn't know for each question. The participants were very enthusiastic about the PTK training provided because this training could provide very extensive information regarding how to prepare a good PTK. Originality/value – Writing PTK is something that must be produced by teachers when proposing a promotion so that teachers must be able to write PTK in accordance with the rules for writing good and correct PTK, with this training teachers are greatly helped.

Abstract

Purpose – This service aims to increase the capacity of Pondok Pesantren managers in reading and compiling financial report information using the web-based “Akunku” application. Through this service activity, it is hoped that the training participants will be able to map accounts at Pondok Pesantren and compile financial reports according to Pondok Pesantren financial management standards with the help of a tool in the form of the web-based My Account application, which can present financial reports in real-time and is easily accessible from anywhere. Design/methodology/approach – This service is carried out through several stages of activity, namely (1) providing basic accounting materials, (2) journaling practices and inputting transactions through the “Akunku” application, and (3) the practice of reading financial statement information through the “Akunku” application. The stages of community service begin with the pretest and end with the posttest to determine the increase in the human resource capacity of managing Pondok Pesantren. Findings – There are 13 Pondok Pesantren assisted by Bank Indonesia, categorized as modern boarding schools. The thirteen Pondok Pesantren are categorized as modern because the activities of the students include religious education accompanied by formal education at the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI), Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTS), Madrasah Aliyah (MA) and Higher Education levels. In addition, the thirteen Pondok Pesantren instilled an entrepreneurial spirit in the students through a business unit at the Pondok Pesantren. However, the thirteen Pondok Pesantren were constrained in compiling financial reports due to the lack of knowledge of accounting-related human resources and the absence of supporting tools in preparing financial reports. Originality/value – The posttest results show that service implementation can be effective, as shown by a better understanding than before there was capacity building. This service provides a new understanding for Pondok Pesantren managers regarding preparing financial reports for Pondok Pesantren. Preparing Pondok Pesantren financial reports using the “Akunku” application was chosen because of the ease of access from anywhere.

Abstract

Purpose – In March 2023, Master of English Education, Universitas Terbuka initiated a program of community service to improve the English teachers’ competencies This program is carried out to guide the English teachers who teach at junior high schools in Kota Depok to improve their competence and students’ achievements, as well as efforts to create a generation that has good competitiveness. Design/methodology/approach – The method used in this community service includes three stages of interrelated activities to ensure maximum achievement of results, namely: (1) needs assessment and communication regarding partners' willingness to participate in training; (2) delivering material using lecture and question and answer methods; (3) carry out practice according to the material provided. Findings – The outcome of this program is demonstrated by the improvement of teachers in creating test items, switching from questions based on text to questions of higher-order thinking skills questions. Originality/value – One element mentioned by the Supervisor of English teachers and the Head of Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran (MGMP) for English subjects is the implementation of assessment. This program provides English teachers with some new knowledge, insights and perspectives about assessment in English language learning.

Abstract

Purpose – The purpose of this activity is to assist partner business groups in optimizing the processing of coconut water waste into diversified products such as syrup, vinegar, and nata de coco (SICUKO). Design/methodology/approach – The implementation method includes preparation stages, implementation stages involving socialization, training, and mentoring, as well as an evaluation stage. Findings – Training activities are conducted by producing outputs such as syrup, vinegar, and nata de coco products from packaged coconut water, labeled, and ready for marketing or consumption. The evaluation results show a significant improvement in participants' knowledge regarding the coconut water processing into SICUKO processed products before and after the activity. Additionally, participants appreciate the taste, aroma, and texture of the products produced based on organoleptic test results. Originality/value – Through this community partnership stimulus program, we can address the coconut water waste issue that has already had an impact on the environment by generating economically valuable products, especially since coconuts are the main commodity in the Katumbangan Lemo Village.

Abstract

Purpose - This community service activity aims to socialize Smart Farming as a new concept in agriculture by integrating technology as an innovation. Smart Farming makes it easy for farmers to increase the quality and quantity of agricultural products through technology. The technology used in this activity is IoT (Internet of Things), a mushroom media sprayer that can be controlled automatically and adjusted to the required temperature. Design/methodology/approach – The methodology used in this community service activity is mentoring and outreach. This activity is a training that concerns two activity themes, namely mentoring the installation of IoT on mushroom media and socializing the business management of oyster mushroom products. Assistance activities will be carried out by technology experts who will guide partners in assembling IoT circuits. In comparison, the socialization that will be carried out will involve resource persons who are experts in agribusiness and will provide debriefing on the management of oyster mushroom input supplies. Findings – Community service activities for Tiramu oyster mushroom partners that are carried out obtain the results of activities that bring significant benefits to partners. The benefit obtained from this activity is an automatic sprayer technology that can be adjusted to the room temperature conditions of the oyster mushroom required by the oyster mushroom. Partners' skills and knowledge also increase with socialization activities that equip partners with knowledge in improving the quality and quantity of oyster mushroom products produced. From some of the things mentioned above, community service activities with results in a series of IoT and partner skills can be said to have enormous benefits for Tiramu oyster mushroom partners. Originality/value – The implications of community service activities produce smart farming technology tools and the ability of Tiramu oyster mushroom partners to improve product quality and quantity.

Abstract

Purpose -This Community Service Activity (PKM) was carried out in order to provide training in preparing financial reports based on SAK ETAP and KEPMEN Desa No. 136 of 2022 with the help of the Village BUM Financial Recording and Reporting Application (PPAK). This training in preparing financial reports is a means of increasing transparency and accountability in the use of village funds for BUMDes Pulotondo, Ngunut District, Tulungagung Regency, which has been established since 2015 and has never prepared financial reports.   Design/methodology/approach – The method used in this PKM activity is: 1. Presentation of Material. Presentation of material regarding the steps for preparing financial reports is carried out by the lecturer together with students majoring in Accounting by explaining the material that has been prepared. 2. Practice. The practice of preparing financial reports using the BUM Desa Financial Recording and Reporting (PPAK) application is carried out by Lecturers and Accounting Department Students by showing/demonstrating directly how to use the application directly to the village officials managing BUMDes Pulotondo so that they are able to understand the work steps and know what should be done next.   Findings- The results that have been achieved with this training activity in preparing BUMDes financial reports are that village officials managing BUMDes have been greatly helped by this training because they have understood the steps in preparing financial reports and what reports must be presented so that they are in accordance with SAK ETAP and KEPMEN Desa No. 136 which requires BUMDes managers to prepare financial reports using the PPAK application. By preparing this financial report, it is hoped that BUMDes Pulotondo, Ngunut District, Tulungagung Regency can increase financial transparency and accountability as required by the government through the Ministry of Villages, Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration. In accordance with Village Ministerial Decree No. 136   Originality/value – The implication of this community service is that BUMDes Pulotondo already has knowledge of how to prepare financial reports in accordance with SAK ETAP and Village Ministerial Decree No. 136. The novelty of this community service is the use of the Village BUM Financial Recording and Reporting (PPAK) application which was launched by the Ministry of Villages, Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration at the end of 2022.

Abstract

Purpose  – This community service activity aims to provide solutions to the problems of the Service Partner, namely the Housewives Group of Healthy Food business owners on Jalan Kenanga Indah, Lowokwaru District, Malang City, which is chaired by Mrs. Sunayah. There are two partner problems; 1) Do not yet have digital marketing media through social media because they still use direct sales promotion and 2) Not yet innovating for Healthy Food product variations Design/methodology/approach – The activity method used is training and mentoring for Service Partners, including consumer identification, target market, market share and business owner capacity; designing social media marketing strategies; creating profiles; updating digital marketing profiles; making Healthy Food variations as well as evaluating and monitoring activities Findings – The results of this service activity include first; training and assistance in creating an Instagram account @_healthyfood_malang with a number of follower accounts (Followers) of 2,711 and the PKM Team continues to train Service Partners to document training activities, the results of making Healthy Fruit and Healthy Vegetables, designing photos and writing using templates, uploading to Instagram accounts and assisting Service Partners to be able to increase Followers. The PKM team also trained Service Partners to follow as many Instagram accounts as possible to find new customers and expand the market. The results of the second activity; The PKM team trained the Service Partners to make variations of Healthy Food, namely Healthy Fruit and Healthy Vegetables. Monitoring and evaluation activities for success are carried out by the PKM Team in accordance with each systematic that has been previously trained Originality/value – The implication of this service activity is that the capacity of the Service Partners has increased, knowledge about social media marketing strategies through Instagram and how to develop product marketing has increased. The general public has alternative healthy foods that can be consumed and ordered online through Instagram social media. At the same time, the Service Partner can develop a variety of Healthy Food. The novelty of this service activity is that it is carried out by a group of housewives to improve skills and help supplement the family economy

Abstract

Purpose - MSMEs are business actors who support the economy in Indonesia. Even though they are small, a large number of business actors can produce a tremendous impact on the rotation of the economic wheel. However, it needs to be understood that not all business actors are successful, there are many obstacles that become problems for MSME business actors. For this reason, efforts need to be made to reduce the burden on MSME business actors, without having to wait for government efforts. Design/methodology/approach – The implementation of this service took Dewi Collection partners who are engaged in the convection business located in Jodipan Village, Blimbing District, Malang City. This service consists of two activities carried out, namely, assistance in establishing a business entity in the form of a trading business and assistance in creating social media accounts as a means of digital marketing. Findings - Community service activities increase the capacity of business actors and become influencers for other business actors for the same activities. Originality/value - This treatment generally has positive implications for MSME business actors by increasing the business capacity of business actors.   KEYWORDS:  Business entity; Convection Business,  Digital Marketing; Legalization.
