ABDIRA (Journal of Community Service): Journal of Community Service contains the results of community service and empowerment activities in the form of application of various fields of science including health, education, engineering, agriculture, agriculture, social humanities, computers, entrepreneurship and economics. Abstract

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) producing salted fish and anchovy products in Keteguhan Village, Teluk Betung Timur District, Bandar Lampung, face several challenges, including low digital literacy, limited promotional content creation skills, and minimal utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in marketing activities. This community service program aimed to enhance the digital competencies of fishermen, fishermen’s wives, and fisheries-based SME owners through AI Marketing training. The program employed community education, technology transfer, hands-on training, and mentoring approaches utilizing ChatGPT, Canva AI, and social media platforms. A total of 30 participants were involved in the program. Evaluation was conducted through pre-tests, post-tests, observations, and interviews. The results indicated a significant improvement in participants’ competencies, with the Paired Sample t-Test showing a significance value of 0.000 (p 0.05). The program also generated practical outputs, including business social media accounts, AI-based promotional posters, marketing captions, and promotional videos. These findings demonstrate that AI Marketing can effectively support digital transformation and enhance the competitiveness of fisheries SMEs in coastal communities.

Abstract

This community service activity was motivated by the low level of integration of local wisdom into the formal literacy curriculum at PKBM Tentrem Berdaya, which has led to the marginalization of regional oral literature. The primary objective of this program is to improve students' reading comprehension skills through the exploration and adaptation of oral literary values. The method employed is Participatory Action Research (PAR), implemented through intensive training, mentoring, and writing workshops. The results of the program demonstrate measurable improvements in students' cultural literacy and language skills. This revitalization effort has successfully bridged the gap in cultural literacy while providing contextual learning resources for students. This initiative is expected to serve as a strategic reference for non-formal educational institutions in integrating local wisdom to strengthen the foundation of community cultural literacy.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to enhance the capacity of teachers at SMP Yakha in managing literacy classes within the 15-Minute Reading Movement through the implementation of creative and participatory pedagogical strategies. The program employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach consisting of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The activities began with a needs assessment, followed by literacy strategy workshops, classroom implementation assistance, monitoring, and collaborative evaluation with teachers. The results demonstrated an improvement in teachers’ competencies in applying scaffolding techniques, reading aloud, and discussion prompts, enabling them to play a more active role as literacy facilitators. In addition, students showed greater engagement in reading activities, improved reading comprehension, and enhanced critical reflection skills. The program also produced a draft Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for literacy class management to support the sustainability of literacy culture within the school.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of information technology has transformed the education sector and requires school human resources to possess digital literacy and digital citizenship competencies. This community service program, conducted at SMP YPPL Panjang in Bandar Lampung City, aimed to strengthen teachers’ understanding of these competencies as an effort to improve the quality of school human resources. The program adopted a learning-by-doing approach involving knowledge sharing, discussions, practical activities, and an initial assessment through questionnaires. The findings revealed that most participants were already familiar with the concepts of digital literacy and digital citizenship; however, they had not fully recognized their strategic role in addressing the challenges of technological disruption in education. At the end of the program, 100% of participants signed a commitment statement to pursue continuous self-development, implement digital citizenship values, act as change agents, and foster sustainable collaboration. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening digital literacy and digital citizenship as key foundations for preparing school human resources to adapt to technological changes and support the development of a high-quality, inclusive, and sustainable educational ecosystem.

Abstract

The high prevalence of Tuberculosis (TB) within the operational area of the UPTD Ciawigebang Community Health Center served as the impetus for conducting Field Learning Practice (PBL) II which aimed to identify the causes of the issue and devise prevention measures. This community service activity aimed to analyze TB cases, determine the contributing factors, and design suitable health promotion interventions. The methods employed included community education via outreach using leaflets, problem prioritization using the Urgency, Seriousness, and Growth (USG) method, root cause analysis (fishbone), and the formulation of alternative solutions implemented through the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) approach. The findings revealed that limited public knowledge and low awareness of early health examinations were the primary factors contributing to the high incidence of TB. Health education through counseling sessions and leaflets proved to be an important strategy for improving community awareness and supporting sustainable TB prevention and control efforts.

Abstract

Early Childhood Education (PAUD) teachers play a crucial role in shaping children's character through creative and meaningful learning processes. However, utilizing digital technology as an interactive learning medium remains a challenge for some PAUD teachers, particularly in rural areas. This community service initiative aims to enhance the competence of PAUD teachers in Cikarang Village regarding the design of interactive computational media that supports character building in early childhood. The implementation method encompasses needs assessment, content delivery, training on media design applications, hands-on media creation, mentoring, and evaluation of training outcomes. PAUD teachers participated actively in every stage of the training. The results demonstrate an improvement in participants' understanding of interactive computational media concepts and their ability to produce engaging, user-friendly learning media that integrate character values such as discipline, responsibility, cooperation, honesty, and caring. This training contributes to enhancing teachers' digital competence while fostering the implementation of learning practices that are more innovative, effective, and child-centered. Consequently, this initiative serves as a strategic effort to support character building through technology-based early childhood education.

Abstract

The low level of office software optimization and employees’ limited digital literacy are major obstacles to operational efficiency in the public service sector, including at Perumda Air Minum Tirta Mangutama. This Community Service activity aims to enhance employees’ technical competencies through Smart Office Productivity training that integrates advanced Microsoft Office features with Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. The method used is participatory training based on demonstrations and hands-on practice, with evaluation conducted through a comparison of pre-test and post-test scores as well as the calculation of Normalized Gain (N-Gain). The results of the activity showed an increase in the average participant score from 66.25 to 76.25, with an average N-Gain of 0.29. This training has proven capable of driving the transformation of employee competencies toward a productive and efficient smart work ecosystem in support of improving the quality of public services.

Abstract

Visual stimulation can foster children's cognitive abilities. A poor learning environment can be a trigger for decreased visual acuity in children, even though good vision is crucial for the teaching and learning process. Training motor skills is essential for enhancing brain stimulation and visual acuity, in addition to ensuring good nutrition for children. The methods used in this community service activity are lectures, followed by practice, role-play, and discussions. Parental involvement in visual stimulation is crucial because parents are the first educators for children, so it is necessary to provide appropriate stimulation according to the toddler's developmental stage. Visual stimulation carried out regularly through various simple activities such as reading picture books, playing puzzles, and introducing colors can improve children's attention, memory, classification, problem-solving, and language skills. The evaluation results showed an increase in parental knowledge about visual stimulation, with an average knowledge score before counseling of 62.4 increasing to 85.6 after counseling.

Abstract

Medication adherence is an important factor in achieving successful therapeutic outcomes. However, many adolescents still lack adequate understanding regarding proper medication use, particularly the principles of correct timing and correct administration. This community service activity aimed to improve adolescents’ knowledge regarding medication adherence through health education at SMP Negeri 40 Samarinda. The method employed was community education through counseling sessions using PowerPoint presentations and leaflets accompanied by pre-test and post-test assessments. The activity involved 28 junior high school students. The results demonstrated an increase in participants’ knowledge following the educational intervention. The average percentage of correct answers increased from 92% in the pre-test to 99% in the post-test. Improvements were also observed in understanding medication intervals and the proper use of measuring devices for syrup medications. This educational activity proved effective in improving adolescents’ knowledge and understanding of medication adherence and may support rational and safe medication use.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to improve community knowledge and awareness of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) in the working area of Pembeliangan Public Health Center, Sebuku District, Nunukan Regency. The program was implemented through health education using lectures, interactive discussions, question-and-answer sessions, demonstrations of PHBS practices, and the distribution of educational leaflets and posters. The materials covered handwashing with soap, the use of clean water, environmental sanitation, and household waste management. The results showed increased community knowledge and awareness of PHBS. Participants were actively involved in the educational activities and practical demonstrations, while the participation of community health volunteers and local leaders supported the sustainability of PHBS implementation.
