Abstract

Mint (Mentha piperita) leaves contain menthol and volatile compounds that provide relaxing and cooling effects and may improve comfort and sleep quality. These properties offer a non-pharmacological alternative for reducing sleep disturbances, anxiety, and stress among older adults. Sempalwadak Village, Bululawang District, has abundant mint resources; however, their utilization remains limited. This community service program aimed to empower community health cadres through training on the hygienic and safe processing of mint leaves into herbal tea for older adults. Seventeen health cadres participated in educational sessions and hands-on training. Program effectiveness was evaluated using pre-test and post-test assessments to measure knowledge improvement and observational checklists to assess practical skills. Success was defined as a minimum 30% increase in knowledge scores and good practical skills. The results showed a 47.43% increase in mean knowledge scores, while the average skill score reached 3.80, categorized as very good. The program effectively improved cadres’ knowledge and skills in utilizing local herbal resources to support health promotion and disease prevention for older adults.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the digital understanding and competitiveness of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Pasuluhan Village, Walantaka District, Serang City, Banten. The main problems faced by these MSME actors include a weak product visual identity (branding), conventional packaging, limited market reach that relies on word-of-mouth methods and traditional market sales, and a lack of digital technology understanding. The implementation method used is a participatory approach and direct mentoring guided by the service team (Participatory Action Research), which of three stages: observation, material preparation, and workshop execution. The results of this activity show an increase in participants' skills, evidenced by the creation of business Gmail accounts, the visualization of logo design variations for the 9 attending MSMEs using Artificial Intelligence (ChatGPT) technology, improvements in packaging aesthetics, and the creation of marketplace accounts on the Shopee and TikTok Shop platforms. This program received a highly positive response from village officials and local cadres as it has proven to provide concrete solutions for expanding market access for Pasuluhan's local crafts and culinary products online.

Abstract

The postpartum period is a critical time associated with various health risks, particularly for high-risk mothers. Limited healthcare personnel available for monitoring necessitates the empowerment of community health volunteers (*kader*) to assist with early detection and support for postpartum mothers. This initiative aimed to enhance the capacity of these volunteers by optimizing conventional monitoring methods and guiding the use of the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Handbook (*Buku KIA*) in the care of high-risk postpartum mothers in Salatiga. An active participatory partnership approach was employed from August to November 2025, comprising three stages: preparation and coordination, volunteer training, and guidance and supervision of home visits. The program involved volunteers, high-risk postpartum mothers, university students, and faculty members. Results demonstrated improved volunteer knowledge and skills regarding the detection of postpartum danger signs and the use of the MCH Handbook as a monitoring tool. All volunteers accurately completed monitoring forms and provided support in accordance with postpartum care standards. This support contributed to adherence to postpartum visit schedules, successful physical recovery, smooth lactation, and the absence of maternal complications or psychological issues.

Abstract

Adolescents are a group that is highly vulnerable to the risk of infectious diseases, and this elevated risk may contribute to an increased prevalence of infections in this age group. Consistent understanding and practice of proper handwashing have been shown to reduce transmission rates of communicable diseases.  Method: This activity was carried out through health education and handwashing practice using a participatory educational approach. Comprehension was evaluated using oral questions, while handwashing practice was assessed through observation of the completeness of each step. A total of 31 adolescent participants aged 16–18 years were selected using purposive sampling. The evaluation showed that understanding of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (CHLB/PHBS) and handwashing was in the good category for 93.54% of participants and in the fair category for 6.64%, with no participants in the poor category. Handwashing practice for all participants (100%) was categorized as good, as they were able to perform the handwashing steps correctly as taught. These findings indicate that brief education combining material explanation, demonstrations, and hands-on practice is effective in improving adolescents’ knowledge and skills related to handwashing. Similar programs are recommended to be implemented regularly and integrated into school activities so that handwashing behavior becomes a sustainable habit and supports the prevention of infectious diseases among adolescents.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to increase financial managerial capacity and operational efficiency at Swalayan 777 Pekanbaru through structured financial management assistance. The main problems of partners include financial records that are not systematic, cash flow management that is still based on intuition, weak control of operational costs, and decision-making that is not based on financial data. The implementation method uses a participatory, educational, and problem-based mentoring approach through the stages of problem identification, observation, training, implementation assistance, and evaluation. The results of the activity showed an increase in managers' understanding of financial management, the formation of more structured financial recording practices, improvements in cash flow management, and the strengthening of operational cost control. In addition, there has been a change in managerial behavior towards decision-making that takes financial information into account. This activity shows that sustainable mentoring contributes positively to strengthening the governance and sustainability of retail businesses.
