Abstract

Kampung Parakanceuri Tourism Village possesses significant natural tourism potential but faces risks of landslides and flash floods. Despite their strategic role, the human resource capacity of the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) in disaster mitigation remains limited due to committee regeneration and a false sense of security since the 2009 disaster. This community service project aims to enhance Pokdarwis' capacity through a Service Learning (SL) approach involving investigation, preparation, action, and reflection stages. The results indicate an improvement in partners' understanding, evidenced by the collaborative development of disaster Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and the installation of educational posters at vulnerable points. However, a significant challenge remains in the form of a strong "fatalism" principle, leading to the neglect of financial protection like insurance and professional certification. This program suggests strengthening preparedness through formalized insurance partnerships and certified mitigation training to ensure sustainable destination safety.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to provide knowledge regarding debt-related issues arising from online loans—matters that fall under civil law and frequently trigger disputes within the community, particularly among young people, often due to a lack of understanding regarding legal aspects and available dispute resolution mechanisms. Conducted at SMAN 2 Pangururan in Samosir Regency, this initiative seeks to educate participants on the legalities of online loan agreements from both civil and criminal law perspectives. The material covered includes the fundamental concepts of debt and lending, the various types of loan agreements, and the requirements for a valid contract; furthermore, participants gain an understanding of legal risks, ranging from breach of contract to potential criminal elements such as fraud or embezzlement. The outcomes of this activity serve as a foundational step toward fostering a community that is more legally aware, capable of engaging in lawful and secure transactions, and able to resolve disputes wisely in accordance with applicable regulations.

Abstract

The accumulation of organic waste in urban areas triggers overcapacity at the Sumur Batu Landfill and causes air pollution due to open burning. This community service activity aims to educate the university community on reducing leaf waste at the source through a composting pilot project at the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Krisnadwipayana. The methods applied encompass a sociotechnological approach consisting of community education, technical composting training guided by speakers from the North Bekasi District Environmental Health Department (UPTD LH), and the diffusion of science and technology. The starter formulation utilized a mixture of 1 cap of EM4, 1 cap of molasses, and 10 liters of fresh water, followed by an anaerobic fermentation process for 25 days. The results demonstrated a successful collaborative integration of lecturers and students across multiple departments (Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, and Urban and Regional Planning) in producing ready-to-use organic fertilizer applied to the campus's productive trees. In conclusion, managing waste independently from its source is crucial as a tactical solution to reduce regional ecological burdens while creating a clean, healthy, and sustainable campus ecosystem.

Abstract

Students from Sunan Giri University in Surabaya held a community service event on December 20, 2025. They organized an environmental cleanup and taught people how to use separate trash bins for different types of waste. The reason for this event was because people still didn't understand enough about keeping things clean and properly sorting trash. The activity used the Asset Based Community Development method, which means they worked with the community and used their strengths and involvement. During the event, the community helped clean up and learned about organic, inorganic, and B3 waste through easy-to-understand materials such as pamphlets and posters. The posters explained how to sort trash in a simple way that people could follow. The community was very active and happy to take part. The results were a cleaner environment and more people knowing how to sort their trash properly. This event also brought the students and local residents closer together. The hope is that this activity will help the community keep their area clean and take care of the environment on their own for the future.

Abstract

A decline in sleep quality is common among patients with diabetes mellitus and can interfere with physical and cognitive activities. Acupressure is a method with minimal side effects and is the easiest for people to perform on their own. Applying pressure to acupressure points accurately, gently, and slowly can modulate neurotransmitters to induce relaxation and improve sleep quality. This community service activity was conducted with the aim of improving the public’s knowledge and skills regarding acupressure to improve sleep quality in people with diabetes mellitus. The methods used included outreach, education, and demonstrations, with leaflets serving as teaching aids to facilitate understanding. The activity was attended by 31 participants. The results of the pre-test and post-test showed a shift in participants’ understanding levels: from “very poor” (19 participants) and “poor” (9 participants) to “good” (24 participants) and “very good” (2 participants). This indicates that effective education combined with hands-on demonstrations can improve knowledge of the benefits of acupressure and the skills needed to perform acupressure independently.

Abstract

Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, originally sacred moments for strengthening ukhuwah (brotherhood) and fostering self-restraint, are currently facing a shift in meaning due to the rise of "flexing" culture and hedonistic lifestyles on social media. This phenomenon of displaying wealth and achievements not only undermines the spiritual essence of worship through riya’ (showing off) and takabbur (arrogance) but also triggers negative psychological impacts such as insecurity and FOMO among the younger generation. This community service program, conducted at SMA Negeri 2 Medan, utilizes the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach to address these moral challenges. Through participatory dialogue and collective case analysis, students are encouraged to develop critical consciousness regarding digital influences. By integrating digital literacy based on akhlakul karimah (noble character) and Islamic principles such as zuhud (asceticism) and tawadhu’ (humility), this program aims to realign the orientation of the "day of victory" toward simplicity and sincerity. The results indicate that internalizing the essence of fasting as a means of self-control (imsak) can effectively transform digital behavior into a more ethical practice, ensuring that Eid al-Fitr remains a moment of spiritual triumph free from the stains of materialistic pride.
