Abstract

This study aims to analyze the teaching style of a Pancasila Education teacher in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum at SMP Negeri 3 Karangdowo, Klaten. The research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach with an exploratory focus. Data were collected through non-participant classroom observation, structured interviews with one experienced teacher and 3 eighth-grade students, and documentation analysis including lesson plans, teaching materials, and learning outcomes. The data collection spanned six months to ensure in-depth and contextual understanding. Data validity was ensured using source, method, and time triangulation. The data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, comprising data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing with verification. The findings indicate that the teacher's instructional style under the Merdeka Curriculum is more student-centered, contextual, and engaging. However, several challenges were identified, including resistance to change, limited resources, low student motivation, and restricted instructional time. The teacher employed strategies such as differentiated instruction, character development, and the use of contextual learning with formative assessment. These findings offer theoretical contributions to Pancasila instructional strategies and practical implications for curriculum developers and educators.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of using Spotify to improve students’ listening skills, specifically through listening to English songs to identify missing words and analyze grammatical structures in the lyrics. A quantitative method with a pre-experimental design was applied, utilizing a one-group pre-test and post-test approach. The participants consisted of 25 ninth-grade students from class IX-2 at SMP Panca Budi Medan. Data were collected through listening tests conducted before and after the treatment. The pre-test results showed a total score of 1090 with an average of 43.6, indicating low listening proficiency. After the treatment using Spotify, the post-test results increased significantly to a total score of 2140, with an average of 85.6. Statistical analysis revealed that the significance value (Sig.) was less than 0.05, confirming that the alternative hypothesis (H?) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H?) was rejected. These results indicate that the use of Spotify was effective in enhancing students’ listening skills. The findings suggest that integrating digital music platforms like Spotify into English language instruction can provide students with engaging and authentic listening experiences. This approach not only increases students’ motivation and enjoyment but also supports their comprehension of real-life language use. Therefore, educators are encouraged to utilize music-based applications as supplementary tools in teaching listening, particularly for learners in EFL (English as a Foreign Language) contexts.

Abstract

Digital transformation in higher education demands the integration of an efficient academic administration system, especially in a vocational education environment such as the D3 Pharmacy Study Program which has high service complexity. This study was conducted to determine the extent to which the implementation of a digital academic administration system affects the efficiency of educational services. This study uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive correlational research type. Data were collected through distributing closed questionnaires to 92 respondents consisting of students, lecturers, and education staff. The instrument used adopted a five-point Likert scale with customized indicators on each variable. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques, including Pearson correlation test and simple linear regression. The results showed that there was a positive and significant relationship between the implementation of the digital academic administration system and the efficiency of educational services, with a correlation coefficient of 0.682 and R square of 0.465. This means that 46.5% of service efficiency can be explained by the effectiveness of the digital system implemented. The conclusion of this study shows that the digitalization of the academic administration system is able to improve the speed, accuracy, and affordability of educational services. For future development, it is recommended that the digital academic system be continuously updated by considering the specific needs of vocational education, as well as strengthening training and digital literacy for its users.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between high school students' self-efficacy and peer support and their willingness to learn mathematics. One of the main issues facing the education sector is the motivation of high school students to comprehend mathematics. Students' willingness to learn mathematics is thought to be significantly impacted by peer social support. 66 high school students participated in the study, which used a quantitative sample technique. Structural equation modeling (SEM) with a non-specific bootstrapping approach was used to evaluate the data. The findings show that self-efficacy has a favorable and significant impact on motivation to learn mathematics (? = 0.669; t = 4.522; p < 0.000). Peer social support significantly and favorably affects kids' motivation to learn math. In summary, peer social support and self-efficacy have a notable and favorable effect on pupils' motivation to learn math. In conclusion, high school students' willingness to learn mathematics is significantly influenced by their peers' social support and their level of confidence. Students' motivation to learn mathematics can be raised by bolstering these two components.

Abstract

Language and culture are interrelated and form a unity that reflects the values of a society. In the context of the Saur Matua traditional ceremony of the Batak Toba tribe, the use of figurative language is an important element that conveys cultural values such as kinship, religiosity, descent, wealth, and honor. This study aims to analyze the forms and meanings of figurative language (umpasa) used by Hula-hula, Dongan Tubu, and Parboru in the Saur Matua ceremony. Using a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected through direct observation, audio-video documentation, and informal interviews with 12 key informants consisting of community leaders, traditional elders, and participants of the ceremony. The data were analyzed through transcription, classification of types of figurative language, and interpretation of cultural meanings based on literary linguistic theory. The results reveal that umpasa is predominantly used to deliver prayers and hopes, moral advice, and motivation to the bereaved family. Similes and symbols are the most frequently used figures of speech. The use of figurative language in this ceremony not only enhances the aesthetic aspect of communication but also plays a vital role in preserving the noble values of Batak Toba culture. Academically, this study contributes to the enrichment of cultural linguistic research and supports the preservation and documentation of Indonesian oral literature, particularly among indigenous communities.

Abstract

Language plays a crucial role in academic and professional communication, particularly due to the diverse terminology used across different disciplines. Variations in the meaning of vocabulary in fields such as law, science, economics, and maritime studies often create ambiguity, especially for learners of academic English. This study aims to analyze how the meaning of English vocabulary shifts based on disciplinary context. Employing a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected through literature review and document analysis. The findings reveal that a single English word can hold different meanings depending on the field in which it is used—for instance, the word “sentence” generally refers to a linguistic unit, whereas in legal discourse, it denotes a judicial punishment. These results underscore the significant influence of disciplinary context on vocabulary interpretation and usage. The study highlights the importance of contextual language understanding to improve academic literacy and English proficiency among interdisciplinary students and professionals. Furthermore, the findings contribute to the development of discipline-specific academic English curricula and offer practical guidance for more effective English language teaching and learning.
