Abstract

This research is motivated by concerns about the fading of Javanese cultural identity and nostalgia for their hometown, prompting them to strive to preserve their culture in a multicultural diaspora. The method used in this research is qualitative-descriptive. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research location is at the Pendopo Budaya Banjarbaru, which serves as the center for art and culture activities in Loktabat Utara Village, Banjarbaru North District, Banjarbaru City. The results show that the Kempalan Community of Jogja Family South Kalimantan (KEJOGJA Kal-Sel) successfully received a grant for a set of Yogyakarta gamelan from the DIY Palace as the main means of preserving karawitan art. The Bhinneka Tunggal Laras karawitan group, which is under the auspices of this association, is actively conducting rehearsals and performances, particularly involving the younger generation across ethnic groups. The values of Javanese culture such as guyub (harmony), grapyak semanah (friendliness), lembah manah (humility), unggah-ungguh (etiquette), ewuh pakewuh (mutual respect), srawung (gathering, interacting), and mutual cooperation are implemented in social interactions and ethics in these activities. It can be concluded from this study that the migrant community is able to preserve Javanese culture in a relevant and active way in a new environment. One way is by participating in cultural festivals and art exhibitions to preserve the culture while also introducing it to the wider community.

Abstract

The gap in access to technology and low digital literacy are fundamental problems in education in the 3T (Disadvantaged, Frontier and Outermost) regions. This research aims to formulate methods and strategies for the integration of digital literacy in social studies learning in the 3T regions. This research is motivated by the gap in access to information in each region, low digital competence and limited infrastructure in 3T areas. The research method used is a literature review with a qualitative descriptive approach to analyse various scientific sources and journals on digital literacy in social studies learning in 3T areas. The results of the study found five main components of the integration model namely access, content, pedagogy, participation and evaluation and digital literacy strategies that are relevant for 3T areas include teacher education and training, project-based learning methods, provision of local-based materials and content and evaluation of the learning process. Digital literacy in the 3T areas does not only look at the use of digital technology but the ability to critique digital content or information and ethics in using digital media.

Abstract

Abstract

The erosion of local culture due to modernization has increasingly influenced the mindset and lifestyle of society, especially among the younger generation. This study explores the values in the Kalondo Wei tradition in Mawu Village and its role in strengthening the cultural identity of the Mbojo ethnic community. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The samples consisted of traditional leaders, religious figures, family representatives, and community members involved in the wedding procession. The findings show that each stage of the Kalondo Wei procession—preparation, escort, parade, and celebration—contains noble values reflecting the principles of Pancasila. These include values of divinity, socio-cultural harmony, mutual cooperation, and the development of moral and mental strength. Kalondo Wei functions not only as a cultural ritual but also as a medium for transmitting values and character education to the younger generation. This research contributes to the preservation of local culture amidst the challenges of globalization.

Abstract

Poverty remains a pressing issue in many regions of Indonesia, including North Lombok Regency, where poor families face limited access to health, education, and social welfare services. To address this, the government introduced the Family Hope Program (PKH), a conditional cash transfer aimed at reducing social vulnerability and improving the quality of life of poor households. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Family Hope Program (PKH) policy and its impact on family welfare in Dusun Karang, Pemenang Barat Village, Pemenang Subdistrict, North Lombok Regency. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. Research informants consisted of 10 Beneficiary Families (KPM), 1 PKH facilitator, and 1 village government official, selected using purposive sampling. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was tested through technique triangulation, source triangulation, and time triangulation. The findings show that the implementation of the PKH policy in Dusun Karang has been carried out properly in accordance with Minister of Social Affairs Regulation (Permensos) No. 1 of 2018 and other supporting regulations. Seven policy components have been effectively implemented: routine health checks for pregnant women and toddlers (Article 7 letter a), minimum 85% school attendance for children (Article 7 letter b), nutrition counseling, immunization, and healthy living education through Family Development Sessions (FDS/P2K2 Module), education on the importance of schooling, elderly participation in social activities (Article 7 letter c), utilization of the Indonesian Health Card (KIS) through JKN-PBI integration (Presidential Regulation No. 82 of 2018), and home visits for the elderly (Permensos No. 5 of 2019 on ATENSI). However, integration with the Indonesia Smart Program (PIP) has not been optimally implemented. The program has had several positive impacts, including increased access to health and education services, strengthened social roles of the elderly, behavioral changes within families, and reduced household economic burdens. Thus, PKH functions not only as financial aid but also as a social development instrument that supports the transformation of family welfare at the village level.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the extent to which self-regulation influences students' interest in learning social studies at SMP Muhammadiyah 21 Serbelawan. Learning effectiveness is not entirely stable if the internal factors of students are also unstable, which is influenced by a lack of interest within themselves. The main factor in achieving goals is the internal drive formed from self-regulation. According to Zimmerman, self-regulation is a spirit towards self-efficacy, self-satisfaction, and interest in what one does. Self-regulation involves an effort within oneself to achieve a goal with a good outcome, so self-regulation is closely related to one's interest in learning. The higher the interest in learning, the better the learning outcomes, which arise from good self-regulation. This study uses a quantitative approach with an ex post facto method. The test results show that the probability of significance in the t-test (partial) is 0.001, which is less than 0.05. Therefore, (alternative hypothesis) is accepted and (null hypothesis) is rejected. Thus, is accepted for each variable in this study, indicating a significant influence between self-regulation and learning interest among students at SMP Muhammadiyah 21 Serbelawan.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of the Karang Taruna  in Aik Bual Village in preserving local culture, as well as the challenges they face. The research employs a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach. Data collection was conducted through direct observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The research subjects include the village government, community leaders, and members of Karang Taruna. The findings indicate that Karang Taruna plays an active role in local cultural activities such as Bekerase, Nyelametan, and Bejambek. Their involvement includes organizing committees, mobilizing youth participation, providing material and logistical support, initiating cultural events, disseminating cultural information and education, and safeguarding the existence of local traditions. However, they face several challenges in preserving local culture, such as low interest among younger generations, the influence of globalization, limited cultural preservation programs, perceptions of cultural practices as conflicting with religious teachings, and the lack of regeneration and supporting facilities. Therefore, creative strategies, collaborative approaches, and institutional support are needed to ensure sustainable cultural preservation.

Abstract

This study focuses on the efforts of history teachers in developing collaboration skills among eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 5 Banjarmasin. The research background highlights the importance of 21st-century skills, particularly collaboration, which includes active contribution, responsibility, flexibility, productivity, and mutual respect. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles and Huberman model, which consists of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while the validity of the findings was tested through technique and source triangulation. The results indicate that history teachers foster collaboration skills through the implementation of cooperative learning, project-based assignments, emphasis on social values, as well as mentoring and reflection activities. These strategies enabled students to contribute more actively, respect differing opinions, and enhance group responsibility. However, the study also found several challenges, such as the dominance of certain members, the passive attitude of some students, and limited instructional time. Overall, the research highlights the central role of teachers in facilitating collaboration skills, suggesting the need for innovative teaching approaches that align with the demands of the 21st century.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of teachers in developing students’ entrepreneurial competence through the application of an innovative flipped classroom learning model at SMK Muhammadiyah Ambon. The study was conducted using a qualitative descriptive approach, with data obtained from classroom observations, interviews with entrepreneurship subject teachers, and documentation of students’ activities. The results show that teachers play a crucial role in preparing digital learning materials, such as videos and modules, which students study before face-to-face sessions. During classroom learning, teachers facilitate discussions, guide group work, and encourage students to present and simulate business ideas. The findings highlight that teachers act as facilitators, motivators, and mentors who foster creativity, critical thinking, and confidence in expressing entrepreneurial concepts. The study concludes that the implementation of the flipped classroom model is effective in strengthening entrepreneurial competence in vocational high schools and emphasizes the importance of teacher innovation in 21st-century learning.

Abstract

Problem-solving ability is a higher-order thinking skill that plays an essential role in history learning. However, students often face difficulties due to limited active engagement in the learning process. This condition encourages the application of learning models that can enhance such abilities. This study aims to describe the effect of the problem posing learning model on students’ problem-solving skills in grade XI at SMA Negeri 11 Banjarmasin. The research employed a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design, specifically the nonequivalent control group design. The population consisted of all grade XI students, with purposive sampling used to select two classes: XI-C as the experimental group (problem posing) and XI-A as the control group (expository). The research instrument was a multiple-choice test, previously validated and tested for reliability. Results of the Independent Sample t-Test showed that the pretest significance was 0.364 (>0.05), while the posttest result was <0.001 (<0.05), with a t-value of 12.236 exceeding the t-table value of ±1.993 (df = 72, α = 0.05). These findings reject H0 and accept Ha, indicating that problem posing is more effective than expository learning. Thus, the problem posing model has a positive effect on improving students’ problem-solving skills in history learning.
