Abstract

One of the potential objects to be developed in the circular economy era is household plastic waste. Housewives around the Batu Putuk tourist attraction have plastic waste from household that have not been managed properly. This causes several losses such as odor and visual pollution and becomes a source of disease. This is because housewives do not know the dangers of plastic waste and how to process plastic waste. This service activity aims to provide understanding and increase awareness about the dangers of plastic waste and various types of processing of plastic waste, as well as train housewives to make creations from PET-type plastic waste into valuable products. The method used was awareness and increased understanding, training, and counseling to 20 housewives around the Batu Putuk Village tourist attraction. There was an increased understanding of the types of plastic waste and how to process it. There was an increased skill in making creations from plastic waste into goodie bags, tissue holders, wallets, and flowers. The driving factor for the program's success is the participants who already have sewing and patternmaking skills. In contrast, the inhibiting factor is the minimal sewing skills. Participants were also interested in creating an association to make plastic waste.

Abstract

Deep learning is a model of development from Merdeka Belajar Curriculum that focuses on students' deep understanding and critical thinking, not just memorisation. The three main components are Mindful Learning, Meaningful Learning, and Joyful Learning. However, many educators, including Islamic Religious Education teachers, still experience difficulties implementing it due to a lack of training. This service activity introduces the deep learning approach to PAI teachers in PGRI and AGPAII Bojong District, Purwakarta. The methods used include interactive training and case studies to provide practical understanding. The results of this activity are training modules and practice guides that can be applied in schools. The evaluation showed that 57.1% of participants had never attended a similar workshop, 78.6% planned to implement it in their learning, and 100% recommended repeating this activity. Thus, this activity has a positive impact, changing the understanding of PAI teachers and increasing good practices in deep learning in the community.

Abstract

Rice husk is an agricultural waste that is still underutilized, even though it has great potential as a raw material for making charcoal briquettes. This study aims to examine the potential for utilizing rice husk as charcoal briquettes and to educate the people of Kertamulya Village about the manufacturing techniques. The method used in this study is a descriptive method with a socialization approach and direct training to the local community. The briquette making process involves several stages, namely burning the husk using the pyrolysis method, mixing with natural adhesives, molding, and drying. The results of the experiment showed that the composition of the mixture of materials and the right drying method greatly affect the quality of the briquettes produced. Briquettes with a ratio of 100 grams of starch, 1 kg of charcoal powder, and 400 ml of hot water gave the best results with stable combustion and long-lasting embers. In addition to contributing to reducing agricultural waste, this innovation also has economic value by opening up business opportunities for the community. Therefore, the use of rice husk as charcoal briquettes can be an environmentally friendly and sustainable alternative solution in supporting energy security and the welfare of rural communities.

Abstract

Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ) conducted international workshop aimed at enhancing the ICT literacy of Filipino pre-service teachers through practical website development training. The workshop was attended by 17 pedagogical students from six higher education institutions in the Philippines, divided into two batches in February and March 2025. Guided by a facilitator from UNJ, the participants were trained to use Weebly, a user-friendly website platform, to create educational websites without requiring programming skills. These websites incorporated essential instructional elements, including lesson plans, multimedia teaching materials, interactive learning exercises, assessments, and evaluation tools. The project emphasized the integration of digital technology in teaching and learning, equipping future educators with the skills necessary for 21st-century classrooms. Participants later presented their websites in October 2025, demonstrating how they applied these platforms in their teaching practice. This initiative highlights the critical role of teacher education institutions in bridging the ICT literacy gap and preparing future teachers for digital transformation in education.

Abstract

Trenggalek Regency and especially Munjungan Sub-district have experienced a decrease in conflicts between martial arts schools, but several conflicts still occur that originate from the motive of disputes between martial arts schools. These conflicts often involve children and teenagers who are supposed to be the productive next generation. At the same time, administrators of martial arts colleges who have previously been accustomed to dealing with or carrying out assistance practices when their members are in conflict, have actually also performed tasks that are close to the duties and functions of a paralegal. Therefore, it is important to carry out community service activities that are empowering in this area. The purpose of this community service activity is the formation of paralegals in the community or martial arts college organisation to control child abuse and legal advocacy to the community. The method used is the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) method. The results of this activity reported that: as an initial condition, the paralegal formation participants have great potential but still have limitations in terms of understanding the law, conflict mediation and child protection. Using an Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach involving asset identification, participatory planning, and intensive training throughout the programme, paralegals were involved in community education activities, such as anti-violence in the internal community. This process was inclusive. The training was designed to not only increase individual capacity but also build synergy between groups in peacefully handling conflicts. The conclusion of this activity provided significant development in paralegal capacity and positive impact in the community. Paralegals who were trained have followed up and started to intensify in advocacy and mentoring.
