This study aimed to produce a Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) test that can be used to measure the higher-order thinking skills of junior high school students. This research is development research that uses the Four-D model. The developed test consists of 25 multiple choice questions which have been validated by two physics education lecturers, FKIP Untan, and three science teachers. The results of the content validation of the validator were 0.903 and analyzed using the Aiken formula. The experiment was conducted on 49 students in the small-scale trial and 163 students from three different schools in the large-scale trial. The results of the experiment show that the HOTS test developed is feasible to use, where the characteristics of the test have high reliability, easy, medium, and high difficulty levels. the readability level is met according to the junior high school level, the index is less than or equal to 6, and the validity is high. The validity of the items shows that there were 22 valid item test questions based on the SPSS application. the reliability of the items was 0.725 based on the KR20 calculation, the index of the difficulty level of the test is easy, medium, and high, and the readability level was 5.25 or fulfilled according to the junior high school level. Based on the characteristics of the HOTS test, researchers obtained test items that can be used to measure higher thinking skills in junior high school students. The data collection techniques used in this study were direct observation, measurement and documentary study techniques. Data collection tools were observation sheet or check list, record sheet and the results taken form of pre-test and post-test. Based on data analysis, the normality test results state that the residual value is distributed normally with a significant value of 0.621>0.05. Moreover, the hypothetical test results stated that Ho was rejected and Ha accepted based on sig (2-tailed) values pre-test and post-test results with a value of 0.000 means smaller than 0.05. According to effect size calculation, the result obtained was 2.13 which kategorized as high, means that STAD type cooperative learning model has a big influence in improving the learning outcome of students in social sciense subjects grade VII E in SMP Negeri 4 Sungai Raya Kabupaten Kubu Raya. AbstractThis research aims to develop a test instrument to reveal sources of misconceptions based on visual representations so to produce instrument indicators of misconception on the concept of the base and height of the triangle. Testing of these instruments was carried out at SMAN 3 Teluk Keramat. This research is in the form of development research, with development procedures referring to the development of test instruments proposed by Djemari Mardapi, consisting of eight steps, namely: designing test instruments, developing test instruments, examining test instruments (validating test instruments), conducting test trials, analyzing test items, improve the test (revision), carry out the test (field trials) and interpretation the test results. Based on the analysis of the misconception test items, the misconception indicator was obtained in drawing the base and height of the triangle with various variations of the visual representation of the triangle and the misconception in determining the base of the triangle from the combination of triangular shapes. Keywords: Develop a Test Instrument, Sources of Misconceptions, The Base and Height of the Triangle, Visual Representations
