Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the use of the TikTok application as a medium to improve English vocabulary acquisition among Generation Z. Generation Z is very familiar with technology and social media, but many still have difficulty in expanding their English vocabulary. This study used a qualitative method using interviews with 10 respondents, consisting of students from the English education study program at Kuningan University who are included in Gen Z. The results of this study indicate that TikTok acts not only as an entertainment medium but also as an effective learning medium. Interesting educational content and a visual approach provided by the TikTok application will help respondents to remember and understand new vocabulary faster. User interaction with TikTok content such as liking, saving, and repeated pronunciation (repetition) contributes to vocabulary preservation. While TikTok has proven to be beneficial, it must also be noted how important it is to combine more structured learning methods to get optimal results. This study is expected to provide new knowledge to educators in using technology to improve the English learning process for Generation Z.

Abstract

One of the most difficult and exciting forms of academic communication available to students is debate. One of the most challenging communication obstacles students face in their academic endeavors is debate speaking. This study aims to find and investigate the common issues debated by students. The study focuses on numerous important areas, including speaking anxiety, time management, framing arguments, handling counterarguments, improving debate forms, and team coordination inside a debate team. Data collecting and processing for this study used quantitative descriptive approaches. The debate class consists of forty college students registered. Five student interviews plus a prepared questionnaire helped to compile the data. The results show that most students struggle with controlling limited speaking time during debates, have trouble with spontaneous reasoning, and suffer from speaking anxiety. Two other noted major obstacles were inadequate team coordination and a lack of knowledge concerning discussion procedures. To improve students' speaking ability in debate environments, lecturers and debate coaches should offer specialized training programs stressing debate strategy, speaking fluency, and team collaboration techniques. This study clarifies students' speaking challenges and offers reasonable suggestions for strengthening debate education in universities.

Abstract

Berdasarkan observasi awal, penelitian ini didasari oleh keterampilan kolaborasi siswa kelas IV C SD Negeri Ledug yang masih tergolong rendah. Dengan demikian, penelitian tindakan kelas ini diarahkan untuk menganalisis peningkatan kemampuan kolaborasi peserta didik kelas IV C SD Negeri Ledug. Analisis tersebut dilakukan dengan mengamati dampak penerapan model pembelajaran berbasis masalah (Problem Based Learning/PBL) pada mata pelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam dan Sosial (IPAS). Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang berlandaskan model Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart. Peserta didik kelas IV C SD Negeri Ledug, berjumlah 12 siswa, menjadi subjek penelitian. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara tidak terstruktur, dan dokumentasi. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus, masing-masing terdiri atas dua pertemuan. Analisis data menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Kriteria keberhasilan ditetapkan pada pencapaian ketuntasan keterampilan kolaborasi minimal 75% dari seluruh siswa. Studi ini membuktikan efektivitas model pembelajaran berbasis masalah (Problem Based Learning/PBL) dalam meningkatkan kemampuan kolaborasi siswa kelas IV C SD Negeri Ledug pada mata pelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam dan Sosial (IPAS). Terdapat peningkatan rata-rata keterampilan kolaborasi dari skor 77 di siklus pertama menjadi 84 di siklus kedua. Secara signifikan, persentase siswa yang mencapai ketuntasan juga meningkat, dari 71% di siklus I menjadi 88% di siklus II.

Abstract

This classroom action research investigates the impact of the "Mindful Morning Circle" method on the social-emotional development of early childhood students at ABA Semarang Kindergarten, Indonesia. The study addresses the increasing need for culturally responsive mindfulness strategies within early education, especially in settings with socio-emotional challenges among learners. Conducted over two action cycles, the research involved 10 children aged 5–6 years, including one with hearing impairment. Data were gathered through observation, interviews, field notes, and documentation. The intervention, rooted in mindfulness and Islamic spiritual values, included breathing exercises, guided storytelling, and emotional check-ins. Results indicated a significant improvement in children's emotional regulation, empathy, peer interaction, and classroom engagement. Qualitative analysis revealed themes of increased self-awareness, improved focus, and emotional vocabulary expansion. The findings support the integration of culturally grounded mindfulness practices into daily routines, particularly in Islamic early childhood education settings. This research contributes to the growing literature on social-emotional learning by offering a model that is adaptable, inclusive, and rooted in local values. Future studies may explore scalability and longitudinal outcomes.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi digital mendorong transformasi signifikan dalam dunia pendidikan, termasuk dalam pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI). Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji secara mendalam mengenai integrasi Internet of Things (IoT) dan Kecerdasan Buatan (Artifical Intelligence/AI) sebagai pilar pembelajaran yang dipersonalisasi di era Smart School. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi literatur dengan menelaah berbagai sumber ilmiah, artikel jurnal, dan laporan riset yang relevan. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa IoT memungkinkan terciptanya lingkungan belajar yang saling terhubung, interaktif, dan berbasis data real-time. Sementara itu, AI berperan dalam menyesuaikan materi, metode, dan gaya pembelajaran dengan karakteristik dan kebutuhan untuk tiap peserta didik, menciptakan pengalaman belajar yang lebih efektif. Dalam konteks PAI, integrasi ini memberikan peluang besar untuk menyampaikan nilai-nilai keislaman secara kontekstual, dinamis, dan adaptif terhadap perkembangan zaman. Namun demikian, integrasi IoT dan AI dalam pembelajaran PAI juga menghadapi sejumlah tantangan, antara lain kesiapan infrastruktur teknologi, kompetensi digital pendidik, serta aspek etika digital dan keamanan data. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan strategi pengembangan sumber daya manusia, penguatan regulasi, dan dukungan kebijakan pendidikan yang komprehensif untuk memastikan integrasi teknologi berlangsung secara optimal dan sejalan dengan nilai-nilai pendidikan Islam. Dengan pendekatan yang tepat, integrasi IoT dan AI berpotensi menjadi fondasi utama dalam membentuk pembelajaran PAI yang lebih inklusif, adaptif, dan relevan di era digital.

Abstract

Arus globalisasi yang terus berkembang turut mempengaruhi masyarakat Indonesia baik dari segi gaya hidup, pola pikir, berbahasa serta menggeser budaya lokal di Indonesia. Penanaman nilai-nilai budaya lokal sejak dini merupakan langkah strategis untuk menanamkan sikap, perilaku, kepribadian, dan budi perkerti yang santun, serta menumbuhkan jiwa nasionalisme pada anak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan implementasi pembelajaran berbasis budaya lokal di Taman Kanak-Kanak Pembina Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (TK Pembina UMP). Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tiga metode yaitu observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitan menunjukkan bahwa, Implementasi pembelajaran berbasis budaya lokal di TK Pembina UMP diwujudkan melalui integrasi nilai-nilai budaya Banyumas dalam kegiatan keseharian anak, seperti penggunaan bahasa daerah saat berkomunikasi, menyanyi lagu tradisional bahasa jawa, pengenalan makanan tradisional, baju adat, membuat hasil karya dengan barang bekas dan bahan alam, serta penerapan nilai sosial. Strategi pembelajaran dilakukan secara tematik dengan pendekatan bermain sambil belajar, yang disesuaikan dengan tahap perkembangan anak usia dini. Dukungan guru, orang tua, serta lingkungan sekitar menjadi faktor penting dalam keberhasilan implementasi ini. TK Pembina UMP telah melestarikan budaya lokal dengan cukup baik. Namun perlu mengembangkan kurikulumnya agar lebih tertara, terarah dan menjadi lebih baik.

Abstract

Vocational education plays an important role in preparing learners to have high competence and readiness to enter the world of work. Since the enactment of Presidential Instruction Number 9 of 2016 regarding the revitalization of SMK, the government has made various improvement efforts, such as curriculum adjustments and increased collaboration with the business world and industry. However, data shows that SMK graduates still dominate the open unemployment rate in Indonesia, indicating that there are challenges in the implementation of the policy. This article aims to analyze the policy of increasing student participation in vocational education and its relationship with the quality of learning and graduate work readiness. The study is carried out with a conceptual approach and literature analysis. The results of the discussion show that the SMK Pusat Keunggulan program contributes positively to improving the quality of education, although there are still obstacles such as limited facilities, low quality of teaching, and a curriculum that is not fully adaptive to the needs of the industry. This finding confirms the need for a relevant, inclusive, and sustainable vocational education development strategy so that vocational school graduates are more ready to compete in the job market.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik kelas IV SD Negeri 2 Pliken melalui penerapan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) yang diintegrasikan dengan pendekatan Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT). Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus, masing-masing terdiri atas tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah 20 peserta didik kelas IV A SD Negeri 2 Pliken pada semester genap tahun ajaran 2024/2025. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi lembar observasi dan soal tes pilihan ganda untuk menilai keterampilan berpikir kritis berdasarkan lima indikator, yaitu mengintegrasi, menganalisis, mengevaluasi, menyimpulkan, dan menjelaskan informasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa integrasi PBL dan CRT secara signifikan meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik. Pada Siklus I, keterampilan berpikir kritis berada pada kategori cukup dengan rata-rata capaian sebesar 56,5%. Setelah dilakukan perbaikan strategi pembelajaran, terjadi peningkatan pada Siklus II dengan rata-rata capaian sebesar 87,5% dan berada pada kategori sangat baik. Capaian indikator juga menunjukkan peningkatan: indikator mengintegrasi, menganalisis, dan menyimpulkan berada pada kategori sangat baik, sementara indikator mengevaluasi dan menjelaskan berada pada kategori baik. Temuan ini menyimpulkan bahwa integrasi PBL dan CRT efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik pada pembelajaran matematika kelas IV.

Abstract

Dalam proses pembelajaran seorang guru yang profesional dan terdidik penting untuk melakukan apersepsi pada awal pembelajaran sebelum melanjutkan ke materi yang baru. Tahap tersebut memiliki kemiripan dengan kegiatan pemanasan dalam olahraga. Hal tersebut penting diterapkan pada pembelajaran sejarah untuk meningkatkan minat belajar peserta didik, karena kebanyakan peserta didik kurang tertarik dengan mata pelajaran sejarah yang dianggap membosankan dan terlalu banyak hafalan. Dari adanya hal tersebut penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apa saja ragam apersepsi dalam pembelajaran sejarah di SMA Negeri 1 Ajibarang, dan bagaimana implementasi ragam apersepsi di kelas, serta untuk mengetahui kelebihan dan kekurangan dalam pembelajaran sejarah di SMA Negeri 1 Ajibarang. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Pengumpulan data berupa observasi, wawancara, dan studi dokumen. Hasil dari penelitian ini terdapat berbagai ragam apersepsi dalam pembelajaran sejarah seperti: (1) zona alfa yang meliputi; fun story, bernyanyi bersama, ice breaking, (2) warmer meliputi; games pertanyaan, diskusi ringan, (3) scene setting meliputi; penayangan gambar, penayangan video pendek, pertanyaan pemantik, (4) pre teach meliputi; penjelasan alur diskusi, dan penjelasan awal materi. Dari berbagai ragam apersepsi yang digunakan oleh guru sejarah di implementasikan dengan berbagai cara sesuai dengan kondisi kelas dan cara guru mengajar. Kelemahan penggunaan apersepsi dalam pembelajaran sejarah yaitu dapat memakan waktu pembelajaran jika tidak direncanakan dengan baik, sedangkan kelebihan yaitu dapat mengembalikan fokus peserta didik, dapat memacu ingatan peserta didik mengenai materi yang dipelajari sebelumnya, serta dapat membangkitkan semangat peserta didik dalam belajar.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the critical thinking skills of fourth-grade elementary students through the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. Critical thinking is a vital 21st-century skill that must be nurtured from an early stage in education. Based on initial observations in Class IVB of SD Negeri 2 Purwokerto Wetan, it was found that most students were unable to express opinions, engage actively, or identify information effectively during thematic learning. Therefore, the PBL model was implemented in IPAS (Integrated Science and Social Studies) learning through two cycles of classroom action research (CAR). The research design followed the Kemmis and McTaggart model, including planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. Data were collected using observation, interviews, written tests, and documentation. The results showed a significant improvement in students' critical thinking skills after the application of PBL. In cycle I, the average critical thinking score was 70.3%, which increased to 84.1% in cycle II. Key aspects of critical thinking, such as providing basic explanations, making inferences, evaluating, and planning strategies, improved across most students. Additionally, the classroom atmosphere became more active, participatory, and collaborative, with more students able to present logical arguments and solve problems independently. The study concludes that the PBL model is an effective approach to enhancing elementary students' critical thinking abilities, especially in thematic IPAS learning.
