Abstract

The high price of chicken feed makes it difficult for farmers to develop their livestock business. This is also experienced by Mr. Pardamiyan Siregar, who has 50 chickens of various ages. Chicken is a type of livestock that relatively eats any kind of food, including grains, green vegetables, and household leftovers. It is easy to feed chickens, including the food scraps mentioned above, but it is not always available, and the amount is minimal. Therefore, this service partner must provide feed through ground corn and fine rice bran purchased at animal food stores. The cost that partners must incur is IDR 47,000 per day or IDR 1,410,000 per month. The partner wishes to reduce the feed cost by grinding the round corn purchased from the store. The desire is based on the price difference between round and ground corn. The price of round corn is only IDR 6,000/kg, while ground corn is IDR 8,000/kg so that the partner can save IDR 2,000/kg in feed costs. If the amount of ground corn given to livestock is 3 kg, then partners can save IDR 8,000 daily. The high cost of feed procurement and the promising profit prospects encourage partners to collaborate with the implementation team to find solutions to the problems faced by partners. According to the implementation team, the most appropriate solution to overcome partner problems is the provision of assistance with corn grinding machines. To achieve maximum success in helping partners, the program implementers arranged the following implementation steps: location surveys and interviews to explore the main problems, analyze the situation and conditions of the partner's business, determine solutions, prepare the implementation of machine manufacturing programs, machine grants, training, and program evaluation. The result of this service program is one unit of corn grinding machine with a capacity of 50 kg/hour. The machine uses a 1.5 hp electric motor drive with a grinder rotation of 180 rpm. The size of the corn grains produced ranges from 1 mm to 2 mm. This grain size allows it to be eaten by chickens (poultry) of all ages.

Abstract

The target audience of this Community Service Program (PKM) is an economically productive community, namely the typical Javanese restaurant “Tugiah” on Jalan K.L. Yos Sudarso, Km 7, Tanjung Mulia Village, Medan City. Tanjung Mulia, Medan City, North Sumatra Province. Abstract

A regularly updated website is essential to support marketing activities in today's digital era. This is what underlies Boesa Management's efforts to improve the performance of its website in order to increase company credibility, expand market reach, and access information. However, the lack of team member skills in website operation makes the company rely on third parties so that it is not free and slow in managing information on the website. Therefore, the Polmed service team took the initiative to provide WordPress-based website operation training to Boesa Management employees by bringing in professionals in the field of web design. Through this training, employees are expected to have qualified skills in website operation so that the company can be independent in managing all information on the company website.

Abstract

learning system development begins with improving the quality of facilities and infrastructure that support learning activities. Very different from the learning system that still seems traditional. Learning facilities are everything that supports the smooth running of the learning process. With various school learning facilities and infrastructure available, their use can support learning activities. Educational facilities are a tool that supports children in the learning process. Learning media facilities are one of the facilities for teachers to transfer information from teachers to students. MTS Nurul Iman, Tanjung Morawa, is one of the foundations in child welfare and Islamic education, which aims to make the nation's children intelligent. However, the condition is still lacking in the development of learning technology, which can hamper children's learning process. Children's learning process at MTsS Nurul Iman, Tanjung Morawa, is still conventional, and only a few classes use projectors and portable screens, which should be used as learning support media.

Abstract

The community service activity carried out in Sumber Mulyorejo Village, Binjai Timur Subdistrict, for business partners in the field of motorcycle repair technology is a collaboration between higher education institutions and the community to fulfill the requirements of the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (Three Pillars of Higher Education). This collaboration emphasizes technology transfer and ensures the availability of technology needed by the community. As part of this planned community service initiative, the technology transfer from the proposing team to the business partners also includes providing and enhancing the technical equipment already owned by the partners. In running their motorcycle repair businesses, the partners face challenges due to the limited equipment they possess. The incompleteness and simplicity of the technical equipment owned by the partners result in slow and low-quality completion of work for their customers. Several complaints have been raised by customers with the partner regarding the slow completion of work. As a result, the number of customers has decreased. If this situation continues to recur, there is a possibility that the partner may lose customers entirely, which would inevitably reduce the partner's income. To address this detrimental situation, improving and adding technical equipment have become necessary and an urgent priority. The outcomes of this community service activity include an increase in the partner's income in the workshop sector and the addition of new equipment, namely one air compressor unit and tools supporting motorcycle service and repair work.

Abstract

The service partner Mrs. Tuti Lestari is a Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) player. The business field that the partner is engaged in is producing cassava chips. Her daily turnover is very small, only 20 kg of cassava or 10 kg of chips. This product is marketed in small stalls around the neighborhood and school canteens. The stalls and canteens retail in small plastic packages to the general public and school students. There is always a demand for more from retailers due to the large demand from the community. It is estimated that more than 60% of the additional demand was not met by the partner. The inability of partners to meet the demand for cassava chips from consumers is due to three reasons: First, partners do not have the extra manpower to handle the production of chips. If additional labor is forced, it will certainly reduce the partner's daily income. Second, to produce chips in large quantities, from the cassava slicing section, problems will arise. The results of slicing cassava are not uniformly thick and thin due to fatigue. Thus, there will be a decrease in the quality of chips (drop quality). Third, the partners do not have a cassava slicer or machine that can produce slices in a short time. The three factors above have caused partners to be unable to increase their chip production. This condition encourages partners to collaborate with the Medan State Polytechnic service team, to jointly solve the three problems that occur. To achieve the desired goals, the proposer uses the following methods as well as the stages of program implementation: Survey to the location to find out the real conditions and situation and then review the existing machine design to be adjusted to the needs of the partners, then the implementation of the manufacture of machine components and their assembly, followed by a machine performance test. If there are no obstacles to the next machine, grants and training are carried out to the partners, then no less important is the publication of activities in mass media and scientific journals. And finally reporting to the funder, in this case P3M. From the method plan that will be carried out, it is expected to produce output in the form of 1 unit of yam slicing machine with a capacity of 60 kg / hour and other outputs, namely publication of activities in scientific journals, mass media and YouTube.

Abstract

The Community Partnership Program (PKM) collaborated with Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Swasta (MIS) Musawiyah, located in Dusun Kebun Kacang, Padang Tualang District, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra Province. The general objective of the Community Partnership Program (PKM) implementation is to help solve partner problems in improving the quality of learning through the application of learning technology based on Artificial Intelligence (AI). The specific objective is to provide training for MIS Musawiyah teachers on implementing AI-based multimedia learning, as well as to provide one unit of LCD projector as supporting equipment in the teaching and learning process at the madrasah. The methods used in this PKM program consist of several stages. The initial stage started with collecting data through surveys and interviews with the Head of Madrasah to identify the partner’s needs and problems. Based on these results, an engagement program was designed to cover implementation and evaluation activities over three months. The results show a significant increase in teacher competence, from 20% before training to 90% after training, as well as the creation of a more innovative and participatory learning culture. This activity was considered successful in improving teachers’ digital competence by an average of 70–80% and enhancing learning facilities, thereby creating a more attractive and effective learning environment. Evaluation demonstrates that the application of AI-based multimedia increased teacher creativity, learning effectiveness, and student participation.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi digital mendorong gereja untuk beradaptasi dalam penyelenggaraaan kegiatan ibadah. Salah satu bentuk adapatasi tersebut melalaui pemanfaatan media visual untuk media visual untuk meningkatkan kualitas penyampaian khotbah dalam ibadah. Gereja Protestan Indonesia bagian Barat (GPIB) Efata Tanjung Morawa merupakan salah satu gereja yang telah menggunakan media visual berbasis power point dalam kegaitan ibadahnya. Namun, kemampuan tim mulitimedia gereja yang Sebagian besar berasal dari kalangan remaja masih terbatas dalam mendesain dan menyusun slide yang sesuai dengan prinsip prinsip pembuatan slide. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang dilakukan tim polmed bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan tim multimedia GPIB Efata dalam membuat slide menggunakan Microsoft Power Point. Pelaksanaan kegiatan dilakukan melalui tahapan, yaitu : (1) Observasi dan identifikasi masalah, (2) persiapan teknis pelatihan, (3) pelaksanaan pelatihan. Pelaksanaan pelatihan dilaksanakan dengan pemaparan materi dari dua narasumber, tanya jawab, praktik pembuatan slide, presentasi hasil slide. Selain pelatihan, tim pengabdian juga memberikan dukungan fasilitas berupa satu unit televisi 43 inch untuk mendukung kegiatan multimedia pada pelayanan ibadah anak. Secara keseluruhan, kegiatan pengabdian ini memberikan dampak positif bagi peningkatan kualitas slide sekaligus mendorong peningkatan kualitas pelayanan ibadah.

Abstract

This Community Partnership Service Program (PKM) aims to increase the income of economically productive communities, specifically the Conventional Motorcycle Taxi Service Business, also known as the Marelan Motorcycle Taxi Association (POM). The Marelan Motorcycle Taxi Association is located at Simpang Pasar 1 Tanah Enam Ratus, Medan Marelan District, Medan City, North Sumatra Province. The problem faced by partners is the low daily income of their business members, which is around Rp. 30,000 - Rp. 50,000 per day per member. The cause of this problem is that partners do not understand how to promote their motorcycle taxi base to customers, partners do not understand how to provide good service (prime service) to their service users, partners do not have motorcycle taxi base identification attributes that are their characteristics, and the physical condition of the business location, such as tables and signboards, is too outdated. Through this Community Service program, a team from Medan State Polytechnic provides solutions in the form of promotion and prime service training, distributes ID jackets, creates new nameplates for the Motorcycle Taxi Association, and renovates tables and chairs at the Motorcycle Taxi Base Post. It is hoped that with the various solutions offered, the daily income of the Marelan Motorcycle Taxi Association (POM) partner members can increase.

Abstract

This community engagement program aims to enhance the managerial capacity of ulos weavers in Parbaba District, Samosir Regency, particularly in calculating the cost of goods manufactured (COGM) and implementing systematic cost recording practices. The main issue faced by the artisans is that product pricing is still based on intuition rather than accurate cost calculations, resulting in uncertain profit margins. The program was carried out through socialization, hands-on mentoring, cost calculation simulations, and group discussions with local weavers. The results show that the main partner, Ibu Nanti Sipakkar, successfully gained a clearer understanding of cost components, including raw materials, indirect materials, direct labor, and depreciation of weaving tools. The introduction of a simple manual recording format also enabled the weavers to perform basic bookkeeping without relying on digital devices. Moreover, the activity revealed that most weavers in the area do not maintain any cost records and are heavily dependent on middlemen in determining product prices. The program significantly improved the participants’ ability to calculate production costs, understand profit margins, and plan production efficiency. For sustainability, further training is recommended on digital bookkeeping, social media–based marketing strategies, and product quality enhancement to strengthen competitiveness in broader markets.
