Abstract

Audit quality plays a critical role in ensuring corporate transparency and accountability amid growing stakeholder scrutiny. Specifically, the role of Public Accounting Firm (KAP) size and mandatory auditor switching regulations has been widely debated in Indonesia following financial scandals and regulatory shifts. However, empirical findings on the mediating role of auditor switching between KAP size and audit quality remain inconclusive, especially in the transportation and logistics sector. This study aims to examine the direct and mediated effects of KAP size on audit quality through auditor switching using data from 23 IDX-listed companies (2020–2023), analyzed via PLS-SEM with WarpPLS 8.0. Results reveal that while KAP size significantly influences audit quality and auditor switching decisions, auditor switching alone does not significantly affect audit quality, nor does it mediate the main relationship. The novelty of this research lies in its sector-specific context, post-pandemic timeline, and robust modeling technique, providing clarity in an underexplored domain. Implications suggest that policymakers should reassess the effectiveness of auditor switching mandates, while companies are advised to prioritize KAP size and reputation over mandatory rotation in pursuit of audit quality.Highlight : Firm Size Matters – Large (Big Four) accounting firms are statistically proven to improve audit quality directly. Switching Not Always Effective – Auditor switching alone does not significantly enhance audit quality. No Mediation Found – Auditor switching does not mediate the relationship between firm size and audit quality. Keywords : Auditor Switching, Audit Quality, KAP Size, Big Four, PLS-SEM

Abstract

General Background: Islamic education aspires to develop individuals who are both intellectually capable and morally grounded.Specific Background: Current implementations of the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) and Character curriculum often emphasize formal knowledge while underrepresenting integrative Islamic values. Knowledge Gap: There is limited curriculum design that holistically reflects Islamic epistemology by incorporating the classical concepts of ta’dīb, tarbiyah, and ta’līm. Aims: This study aims to formulate a reconstructed model for the PAI and Character curriculum based on Islamic epistemology by integrating these three foundational concepts. Results: Through a qualitative literature-based approach, this research identifies a three-domain framework: the value domain (ta’dīb), the process domain (tarbiyah), and the knowledge domain (ta’līm), aligned with the ideal of shaping an insān kāmil (perfected human). Novelty: The proposed model offers a comprehensive epistemological integration rarely seen in existing PAI curriculum frameworks. Implications: This study highlights the urgency of value reorientation in curriculum design and underlines the need for systematic teacher training to ensure effective implementation.  Highlights:  Integrates value, process, and knowledge domains rooted in Islamic thought. Aims to shape insān kāmil—a virtuous and knowledgeable human. Emphasizes teacher readiness for effective curriculum implementation. Abstract

General Background: Student engagement is critical in ensuring effective learning outcomes, particularly in cooperative learning settings. Specific Background: The Think Pair Share (TPS) strategy has been recognized for promoting active participation, especially in student-centered pedagogies. Knowledge Gap: However, limited empirical studies have explored the application of TPS within the context of Islamic Education (IE), which is often delivered through normative, didactic methods. Aims: This study investigates the effectiveness of the TPS strategy in enhancing students’ learning activeness in IE classes at SMP Negeri 16 Bandar Lampung. Results: Employing a quasi-experimental design, the study found no statistically significant difference between the TPS and control groups in learning activeness (Sig. 2-tailed = 0.104, > 0.05). Novelty: The research highlights contextual limitations—including students' unfamiliarity with interactive models, the brief duration of the intervention, and the normative character of IE content—as possible inhibitors to TPS effectiveness. Implications: Although the TPS model did not yield statistically significant results in this case, it remains a valuable pedagogical tool for fostering collaboration and engagement. Future studies should consider prolonged implementation and strategic alignment between TPS elements and the characteristics of IE content to optimize impact. Highlights: TPS promotes collaboration but may not suit all subject contexts. Short intervention and lack of familiarity limit its impact. Alignment with content and extended use is recommended.
