Abstract

Depression is a debilitating and distressing illness that profoundly impacts the abilities and academic pursuits of adolescents. Manifesting in various aspects, such as physical, emotional, cognitive, behavioral, and social domains, depression disrupts academic functioning and impedes learning. This research employs a phenomenology qualitative approach with semi-structured interviews to gather data. The study involves six female adolescents, aged 18 to 20, who are experiencing depression, based on diagnosed by the doctor and who are enrolled as students in an Adventist University in Indonesia during 2022-2023 academic year. The primary objective of this study is to gain a qualitative understanding of depression in female adolescents. By doing so, faculty members can develop a deeper comprehension of how to effectively support and assist students dealing with depression. The following 6 themes such as ”Family Condition”, “Dormitory Condition”. “Feeling hopeless and helpless”, “An experience of loneliness and isolation”, “Feeling unworthy”, and “Therapy as a last resort.” The feeling that they have to deal with it by themselves, and/or the lack of caring who support the students in getting help. The finding suggested the ongoing importance of reducing stigma and promoting mental health education for the students as well as their parents, deans of dormitory, school staff, and dormitorian. Abstract

The high intensity of use of technological media is increasing rapidly. This encourages teachers to use animation media in learning Arabic to understand translation techniques through the behaviorist learning system. On this basis, this research aims to test the effectiveness of using animation media on understanding techniques for translating meaning through the implementation of behaviorism learning. This research uses a qualitative approach design to analyze the meaning translation techniques produced by students from animation media based on behaviorist learning. The data used were the scores of 24 students of the Arabic at IAIN Kerinci, while the analysis technique used was Milles and Hubberman's theory for qualitative data analysis. The results of research techniques show that the use of animation media to understand translating meaning through the application of behaviorist learning is effective in increasing students' grades, while in the process of understanding meaning there are 4 techniques in the animation media of the story of Umar bin Abdul Aziz. Research findings show that the use of animation media can provide students with the opportunity to analyze techniques for translating meaning and be creative in determining learning objects. This sample is limited in use, so researchers recommend that future research use a research design with more varied objects and samples.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a Christian Religious Education learning module that is accessible and effective for children with special needs who are blind. The research method used is research and development (R&D) with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) model. The analysis stage was carried out to identify the needs and characteristics of blind students as well as the obstacles faced in learning Christian Religious Education. At the design stage, a module design is created that takes into account aspects of accessibility and is appropriate to students' conditions through the use of audio media and other assistive technology. The development process involved the creation and validation of modules by material, design and language experts and was based on recommendations and input from specialist blind education teachers. Implementation is carried out through module trials in special schools that serve blind children. Evaluation is carried out to assess the effectiveness of the module based on feedback from teachers and students, as well as through measuring increases in understanding and skills and achievement of grades. The research results show that the module developed can increase the understanding and participation of blind students in learning Christian Religious Education. This module is also considered practical and easy for teachers to use. Recommendations are given for improving the module and implementing it in special schools, especially for students with visual impairments in order to support inclusive and equitable Christian religious education for all children.

Abstract

This article discusses developments and challenges in human rights diplomacy in ASEAN, with an emphasis on policy changes since ASEAN was established in 1967. It analyzes how the principles of non-intervention and sovereignty of member states affect the implementation of human rights, as well as the important role of the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) established in 2009. Despite progress such as the ASEAN Human Rights Declaration in 2012, ASEAN still faces major challenges in the consistent implementation of human rights. Case studies in Myanmar, Thailand, and the Philippines show ASEAN's limitations in responding to human rights violations. This article also reviews the contribution of non-state actors such as NGOs and media in human rights diplomacy, and recommends strategies to strengthen human rights mechanisms in the region. The conclusion of this study is that despite the obstacles, there is potential to improve human rights protection through policy reforms and increased civil society participation.
