Abstract

This study aims to investigates the stigma experienced by individuals with hearing impairments in Lampung Province. Employing a descriptive quantitative method with a survey approach, the research involved 400 respondents, whose sample size was determined using the Slovin formula. Cluster random sampling was utilized to select participants from five regencies and two cities within Lampung Province, namely the regencies of South Lampung, East Lampung, West Lampung, North Lampung, and Central Lampung, as well as the cities of Bandar Lampung and Metro. The research instrument was an attitude questionnaire comprising 58 statement items, measured on a 4-point Likert scale. These items included both favorable and unfavorable statements, structured around Link and Phelan's five dimensions of stigma. Validity and reliability tests were conducted using SPSS version 25.0. Validity results indicated a correlation value of r more than 0.30 for all items, and the reliability coefficient was 0.736. The findings reveal that the majority of respondents (253 individuals, or 63 percent) exhibited a Category 2 (moderate) level of stigma towards individuals with hearing impairments. Conversely, 81 respondents (20 percent) were in Category 1 (low), and 66 respondents (17 percent) were in Category 3 (high). This study recommends the development of continuous education and public socialization programs that target stigma reduction, promote inclusive communication practices, and encourage community engagement. Such efforts are expected to foster a more inclusive and empathetic social environment for individuals with hearing impairments in Lampung Province.

Abstract

The science literacy of students in Indonesia, based on the PISA 2022 assessment, is categorized as low. Indonesia ranks 67th out of 81 countries, indicating that science literacy still needs significant improvement. This study aims to identify the most effective learning model for improving science literacy and to understand its characteristics. The method used is meta-analysis, consisting of four stages: data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The data analyzed were obtained from nine national journal articles published between 2020 and 2024, sourced from Google Scholar, Publish or Perish, Garuda, and Sinta. The results of the analysis show that the Discovery Learning model has the highest effect size value of 4.14, indicating that it is highly effective in improving science literacy. This model actively involves students in the process of discovering concepts through observation, data processing, and drawing conclusions, thereby developing critical thinking skills and the ability to solve problems independently. The average effect size values across Indonesian regions vary significantly, with western Indonesia showing an average of 1.51 and eastern Indonesia 1.64. The average effect size at different education levels was found to be 2.06 at the junior high school level and 0.90 at the high school level. Similarly, the effect size for the topic of interactions among living things taught to junior high school students was 4.14, while for high school students, the effect size for the topic of climate change was 2.42.

Abstract

Attention of students is an important aspect of effective learning since it directly determines comprehension, memory and classroom participation. But focus is also an issue as it is easy to lose track with distractions, mental exhaustion and the repetitive ways of teaching. The purpose of this study was to determine the causes of inattention among 7th grade students of SMP Negeri 19 Surabaya in the 2024-2025 academic year. A sample of 33 students was used through completion of questionnaires and five students were used in semi-structured interviews to learn more about their lived experiences. The thematic analysis showed that the lapses of attention were not consistent but were always situational, with noisy peers, lack of clarity when explaining the concepts to the students, and fatigue being the most prevalent reasons. Students used to deal with losing focus by doodling, chatting or switching seats or making personal notes. The results show that the attention depends not only on the internal state of students but also on the classroom ecology and the quality of instruction. In theory, this research expands the knowledge on the maintenance of attention by autonomy-supportive environments. In practice, it implies that educators can make their classes more focused by incorporating interactive instruction, gamified learning, and brief brain-break exercises to establish dynamic and psychologically supportive learning environments.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the perspectives of eleventh-grade students at SMAN 10 Surabaya on the use of digital media in English language learning. The study focuses on their classroom experiences during a teaching practice where various digital tools were integrated into lessons. Using a descriptive quantitative design with qualitative interpretation, data were collected through questionnaires distributed via Google Forms. The data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative analysis, involving percentage summaries and qualitative interpretation to describe students’ overall perceptions. The study evaluated students’ satisfaction, perceived benefits, motivation, and their understanding of grammar through digital media. The results revealed that students generally had positive perceptions of digital media, reporting increased motivation, engagement, and improved comprehension. However, a few students encountered difficulties related to digital literacy and performance pressure during gamified learning. These findings imply that teachers should integrate digital media tools strategically to create engaging, student-centered learning environments. Teachers are encouraged to balance interactive and competitive elements with supportive feedback to ensure that all students feel comfortable and confident during digital activities. Future research could combine quantitative data with in-depth interviews to gain a more comprehensive understanding of students’ experiences and challenges in using digital media.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the values of Rahmatan lil-‘Alamin in the Qur’an and to analyze their relevance to character education based on humanity within the framework of Pancasila. The research employed a library research method with a tafsir maudhu’i (thematic exegesis) approach to Qur’anic verses related to Rahmatan lil-‘Alamin, complemented by analyses of classical and contemporary tafsir, academic literature, and relevant previous studies. The results of the research indicate that the values of Rahmatan lil-‘Alamin, including compassion (rahmah), justice (‘adl), tolerance, integrity, solidarity, and social responsibility, are substantially aligned with the second principle of Pancasila, namely Just and Civilized Humanity. The integration of Qur’anic values with Pancasila has practical implications for strengthening character education, which can be realized through contextual curriculum development, humanistic pedagogical approaches, teacher role modeling, and the establishment of an inclusive school culture. Therefore, this study affirms that the internalization of Qur’anic values and Pancasila can serve as a strategic foundation for shaping a generation that is morally upright, possesses integrity, shows empathy, and actively contributes to building a just, peaceful, and civilized Indonesian society.

Abstract

This study focuses on how the teacher manages learning media in English classes by comparing the teacher's reflective practices and the contents of teaching modules as official guides. The background of this study departs from the gap between the creativity of the teacher in the classroom and the administrative approach that is reflected in the learning documents. This study uses a qualitative case study design to describe in depth the practice of learning media management in schools. The data collected through in-depth interviews with teacher and document analysis of teaching modules. These two types of data used thematic analysis by applying triangulation methods to ensure the validity of the findings and reinforce the interpretation of the results. The results show that teacher actively choose and modify the media to be more interesting and in accordance with the ability of students, while also preparing alternatives when faced with technical obstacles. In contrast, the teaching module displays only standard media without reflection on their effectiveness or barriers to use. These findings indicate that teacher practice is more innovative than the content of teaching modules that are procedural. The research discussion emphasizes the need to integrate teacher's practical reflections into learning documents so that planning becomes more adaptive, contextual, and responsive to student needs.
