Abstract

Indicators of sustainable development include equal access to education. However, when administrative region and population density are taken into account, educational resources are still unevenly distributed throughout Indonesia's numerous provinces. Lampung was chosen as the research location due to its rapid population growth over the last two decades, which has influenced demand for educational services and the distribution of other public resources. Lampung has 9.52 million people and covers 33,570 km². The importance of this study stems from the necessity to understand the geographical link between these variables in order to facilitate spatial data-based regional planning that is more equitable and efficient in terms of educational distribution. This study used statistical analysis, namely Pearson correlation analysis, to establish the degree of relationship between variables. The study discovered that the area has a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.674 on the number of educational institutions. The Pearson correlation between population density and the number of educational facilities is -0.139, indicating a very weak relationship. The multiple correlation calculation of the relationship between area and population density with educational facilities provides a strong result of 0.745, suggesting that the larger the area in a region and the denser the population, the more educational facilities are required. Lampung's major districts are Way Kanan, Tulang Bawang, and Pesisir Barat, which rank third, fourth, and sixth respectively. However, in terms of educational facilities, Way Kanan, Tulang Bawang, and Pesisir Barat rank sixth, ninth, and fourteenth, respectively. Lampung province's population facilities and administrative areas remain significantly different.

Abstract

The research aims to examine the effectiveness of the use of interactive technology in helping children with intellectual disability recognize vowels. The research was conducted using the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method using a qualitative approach implemented in two cycles at SLB Pelita Bunga, South Lampung. The subjects in this study consisted of 5 children with mild intellectual disabilitiy in class II. Data collection techniques used observation, interviews, and documentation. The learning method used was learning by doing by inviting children to interact directly and practice what was in the application. The results of the study showed that the use of educational technology, especially the Marbel TK PAUD application, significantly improved children's ability to recognize vowels. In the first cycle, students showed increased involvement, but their letter recognition abilities were still limited. After the learning method was refined and the application was modified with more voice feedback and repetition features in the second cycle, students' abilities increased significantly. Interactive technology has been shown to improve the ability to recognize vowels. It is recommended that schools utilize similar technology as the main media in learning for children with special needs education.

Abstract

fostering the independence of their visually impaired children. Using a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study method, data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation involving three blind parents and their children. The results show that blind parents implement a democratic parenting style, using strategies based on verbal communication, daily routines, and gradual life skills training. Despite physical limitations and environmental barriers, the parents were still able to foster their children’s independence in areas such as personal hygiene, mobility, and simple decision-making. Social support from spouses, extended family, and educational institutions further reinforced the effectiveness of the parenting strategies used. This study highlights that disability does not hinder parenting capacity, and emphasizes the importance of collaboration between family and the surrounding environment to optimally support the development of children with visual impairments.

Abstract

Islamic religious education plays a vital role in shaping students’ moral, spiritual, and emotional character. One relevant approach to achieving this goal is the akhlaki sufism method taught by Imam Al-Ghazali. This study aims to identify and analyze Imam Al-Ghazali’s akhlaki sufism method, the objectives of Islamic education, and the relevance between the two. This method emphasizes seven traits or practices that help students understand the importance of repentance, patience, refraining from criticizing poverty, living in asceticism (zuhud), placing full trust in Allah, loving Allah more than other beings, and accepting destiny with contentment. The research employed a descriptive-analytical method. The collected data were analyzed to identify akhlaki sufism concepts that can be integrated into the Islamic religious education curriculum and how these concepts can contribute to students’ character development. The findings reveal that Imam Al-Ghazali’s akhlaki sufism method consists of seven essential traits or practices which include repentance, patience, refraining from criticizing poverty, living in asceticism, trusting Allah, loving Allah above all else, and accepting destiny with contentment. This method is relevant to Islamic religious education in fostering students’ moral, spiritual, and emotional strength.

Abstract

This article aims to explore the contextual meaning of jihad verses in the Qur'an and analyze their relevance to national education values. By using a thematic interpretation (tafsir maudhū‘ī) approach, the study focuses on verses that are often misunderstood, such as QS. Al-Baqarah [2]: 190 and QS. At-Taubah [9]: 5. Through this method, the research highlights that jihad in the Qur'an is not limited to physical warfare but embraces broader values such as self-discipline, social contribution, and the pursuit of justice. The study also critically discusses the implications of understanding these verses in relation to the development of character education and religious moderation in Indonesia. The findings show that a contextual reading of jihad verses can significantly contribute to shaping a tolerant, democratic, and peace-oriented national identity. This article offers an academic contribution in bridging Islamic textualism with the civic values of the modern nation-state.

Abstract

The Merdeka Curriculum is a national educational innovation in Indonesia that promotes flexibility, contextualization, and student-centered learning. Despite its potential, the implementation of this curriculum faces various challenges, particularly in terms of teacher readiness and their perception of the new policy. This study examines the role of innovation attributes as defined by Everett Rogers’ diffusion of innovation theory in influencing the success of the Merdeka Curriculum’s adoption. The five attributes analyzed include relative advantage, compatibility, complexity, trialability, and observability. Using a literature review approach, this analysis focuses on scholarly articles and research reports on the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in Indonesia published between 2023 and 2025. Findings indicate that relative advantage and compatibility positively contribute to curriculum acceptance, while complexity remains a major obstacle at the practical level. Meanwhile, trialability and observability accelerate adoption at the school level by providing visible and evaluable outcomes. These results have practical implications for policymakers and educational institutions to design more effective implementation strategies, including teacher training and context-based adaptation approaches. By situating the Merdeka Curriculum within the framework of innovation diffusion, this article contributes to a deeper understanding of how policy adoption in education can be better adopted through alignment with innovation attributes.

Abstract

This study aims to systematically review the literature on the development of critical thinking and social awareness through contextual and transformative learning approaches. The urgency of this study arises from the increasing complexity of global social and environmental challenges, which demand that education go beyond academic achievement to include the formation of reflective, empathetic, and empowered learners. The research employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method based on the PRISMA 2020 protocol. Data were collected from 13 empirical research articles published between 2010 and 2025 that met the inclusion criteria. Data analysis was conducted using thematic synthesis to identify patterns and key findings across the studies. The results indicate that project-based learning, critical reflection, the integration of local wisdom, and dialogical pedagogy are consistently effective in enhancing students' critical thinking and social awareness. Transformative learning that emphasizes multicultural values, social justice, and active participation also proves to foster empathy, tolerance, and civic responsibility. In conclusion, contemporary education must shift from a knowledge transmission model toward a more humanistic, participatory, and contextual approach. This study recommends strengthening teacher capacity, implementing adaptive curriculum design, and encouraging institutional innovation as key success factors in realizing effective transformative contextual learning.

Abstract

The STEAM approach (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) has emerged as a widely adopted instructional strategy aimed at developing essential 21st-century competencies such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and scientific literacy. Numerous studies have explored the implementation of STEAM in science education, yet the results remain inconsistent due to variations in context, research variables, and educational levels. This inconsistency highlights the need for a comprehensive review that consolidates previous findings. Meta-analysis is a suitable method for this purpose, as it enables the calculation of the overall magnitude of STEAM’s impact. This study aims to examine the overall effect of the STEAM approach in science education. The analysis is categorized by educational level, research variables, and instructional models integrated with STEAM. A quantitative meta-analysis method was employed. Data were collected using Publish or Perish software with sources from Google Scholar and Scopus. The selection process followed PRISMA guidelines. From an initial pool of 1,197 articles, 12 studies met the inclusion criteria and were further analyzed using JASP software version 0.19.3.0.The results indicate that the STEAM approach has a positive influence on science learning. The overall effect size was 0.213, which falls within the moderate category. When analyzed by educational level, the effect size was 0.200 (low category); by research variable, 0.221 (moderate category); and by instructional model, 0.234 (moderate category). These findings suggest that STEAM is an effective approach for enhancing the quality of science education and holds considerable potential as a pedagogical strategy across diverse learning contexts.

Abstract

Character or morality holds a central position in Islam, as a person’s status in the sight of Allah is greatly influenced by their moral conduct. This study aims to describe the values of character education contained in the classical Islamic books Nashoihul 'Ibad and Ta’lim al-Muta'allim, and to explore their relevance to the goals of Islamic education in Indonesia. This research is a library study employing a qualitative approach. Data were collected through a literature review of various sources such as books, articles, and relevant journals, and were analyzed using documentation techniques and content analysis. The findings reveal that Nashoihul ‘Ibad contains character values such as piety (taqwa), wisdom, patience, asceticism (zuhud), humility (tawadhu), sincerity (ikhlas), justice, contentment (qana’ah), gratitude, and honesty. Meanwhile, Ta’lim al-Muta’allim emphasizes values such as patience, intelligence, diligence, gratitude, trust in God (tawakkul), compassion/tolerance, and prudence (wara’). These values reflect character traits in accordance with Islamic teachings and are highly relevant to the goals of Islamic education, namely to form individuals with noble character, based on the Qur’an and Sunnah, in pursuit of happiness in this world and the hereafter. This integrative comparative study of two foundational Islamic books provides a unique contribution to character education discourse by highlighting timeless moral values with practical relevance for Indonesian education. The core scientific contribution of this study lies in reviving classical Islamic values and positioning them meaningfully within the framework of contemporary Islamic education.

Abstract

Moral education is a crucial aspect of human character formation. The moral crisis of the modern era demands a strengthening of education grounded in divine values. The Qur’an presents the story of Prophet Yusuf as a moral exemplar encompassing honesty, patience, self-control, and leadership. This study aims to examine the moral educational values in the story of Prophet Yusuf based on classical and contemporary exegesis. The research employs library research with a thematic (tafsir maudhu’i) approach. The findings show that classical exegesis (such as Ibn Kathir and al-Ṭabari) emphasizes moral aspects through a narrative-based approach, while contemporary exegesis (such as Quraish Shihab and al-Maraghi) highlights the moral relevance for modern life. The study concludes that the moral education embedded in the story of Prophet Yusuf remains relevant and can serve as a foundation for Islamic education in the present era.
