This research examines the preservation of the traditional talempong batuang musical instrument through documentary films as part of efforts to preserve cultural heritage. Talempong batuang, a melodious percussion instrument typical of Silungkang, Sawahlunto, was recognized as Indonesia's intangible cultural heritage in 2023 after going through a long nomination and verification process. By using a research approach carried out in the creation of documentary films based on communication theory and social change based on Marshall McLuhan's theory, this research analyzes how documentary films become an effective vehicle for recording, educating and spreading the cultural values of Talempong Batuang. The results show that documentary films not only function as visual archives but also as a way of preserving culture, making it an appropriate conservation strategy in facing the challenges of modernization. Abstract

This paper analyzes the short story Cerita Batu through the lens of deconstruction, focusing on the reversal of hierarchical oppositions and the rejection of new hierarchical structures. The analysis identifies key binary oppositions in the text Man/Woman, Living Things/Inanimate Objects, and Happy/Sad and examines how these oppositions function within the narrative. The study highlights how the text initially presents dominant and marginal hierarchies, such as male dominance over female and human superiority over inanimate objects, which are later deconstructed. By reversing these hierarchies, the story reveals the interdependence between opposing elements: men and women, humans and stones, and happiness and sadness. The narrative demonstrates that these binary oppositions are not fixed, but fluid and interconnected, showing how meaning in the text is plural and resistant to singular interpretations. Ultimately, Cerita Batu emphasize the idea that oppositions are mutually constitutive, challenging conventional notions of dominance and subordination.

Abstract

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to examine the provisions of Law No. 22 of 2009 that govern victims' compensation in the event of a traffic accident. In order to hasten the progress that will be made in society, traffic is a crucial mode of communication. The four primary causes of traffic accidents include elements related to nature, humans, roads, and vehicles. Most traffic accidents are caused by human error, therefore everyone, particularly the elderly, has to be extra careful on the road. Drivers are liable for damages caused by their illegal acts if another person is injured or dies as a result of their carelessness or negligence, as stated in Article 234 and 235 of Law No. 22 of 2009 about traffic and road transportation. Research in this publication that adheres strictly to stated rules is known as the normative approach. Reading, quoting, and studying documents such as legislation, journals, or other internet media constitute primary and secondary legal materials that the author employs in this work. Primary materials include those that pertain to Law No. 22 of 2009, while secondary materials include a variety of books, journals, and online sources. The author also conducts library studies to gather data. This study's findings clarify the distinction between traffic penalties and compensation, as well as the kind of legislation governing compensation

Abstract

This inquiry endeavors to scrutinize contemporary breakthroughs in the realm of deep learning and their pragmatic utilizations within the educational sphere. To navigate prevailing  impediments, the investigation is executed via a bibliographic examination. The deductions unveil that in recent epochs, artificial intelligence (AI) has undergone an expeditious proliferation. Endeavors formerly deemed exceedingly intricate and formidable for human cognition to unravel are now deftly managed with AI’s intervention. This extraordinary innovation has garnered substantial acclaim owing to its capacity to emulate the cognitive assimilation of the human intellect through neural architectures. Comprehensively, AI is presently categorized into two principal subdivisions: Deep Learning and Machine Learning. Both of these technological paradigms have been instrumental in engendering transformative shifts across multifarious sectors, with particular emphasis on pedagogy. AI-driven mechanisms are increasingly assimilated into scholastic establishments to bolster operational efficacy, curtail expenditures, and cultivate fiscal lucidity by furnishing a perspicuous delineation of monetary inflows and outflows. Furthermore, AI empowers institutions to address exigencies with heightened alacrity and precision, thereby augmenting the overarching caliber of didactic and administrative undertakings. Owing to its extensive promise, AI remains an indispensable domain of inquiry and implementation, with deep learning spearheading its relentless progression.

Abstract

This reseach aims to examine the critical discourse in Emina’s skincare advertisement, specifically the Sunscreen SPF 35 – Bright Glow & Acne Clear 30s, through the application of Teun A. Van Dijk’s Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) framework. Advertisements in the beauty industry often shape societal perceptions of beauty standards, influencing consumer behavior and emotional engagement. By applying Van Dijk’s model, this research examined three key dimensions: macrostructure (textual theme), superstructure (narrative structure), and microstructure (linguistic elements). This study uses a qualitative case study approach with data collected through observation and transcription of selected advertisements from YouTube. The findings revealed that the macrostructure emphasized skin protection against UV rays, promoting the product’s practicality and effectiveness. The superstructure presented a compelling narrative with orientation, complication, and reorientation stages to highlight product benefits. The microstructure analysis identified rhetorical devices such as code-switching, personification, and positive affirmations to enhance audience appeal. The study concluded that the advertisement not only marketed the product but also reinforced specific beauty ideals, linking clear, glowing skin to societal acceptance. This research provides insights into how advertisements influence youth perceptions and underscores the need for more inclusive beauty representations.
